Location was just perfect, minutes away from the Railway Station and Bus Stop. Fabulous views from the Room overlooking the bay and the sunrises were stunning. Just a few steps away from the Promenade which is outstanding the flower beds are stunning, and tended by volunteers just brilliant. Great independent shops and cafes and restaurants. The Ornamental Gardens are beautiful as is The Community Orchard. The Commodore Inn is a great place to stay, rooms are comfortable with a cosy bed and very clean, the staff were very helpful and friendly to. Great Place to stay, perfect to Reset and Relax away from hustle and bustle.
Just one small problem the lack of a hairdryer being available for guests to use.

We liked the location. Although a little steep in places, it was nothing we couldn't manage. The room was comfortable and clean. We ate in the pub on Saturday night, and the food and service, large portions, too, were excellent. Breakfast food was well cooked and presented.
Although the breakfast food was good, we thought it was expensive at £12.95. Possibly, the full breakfast was worth that, but we don't always require a full breakfast. Itemised pricing might be better. Also a selection of cereals might justify the price. Also, on our last day, we were not given individual tea pots per table, as on the previous two days. Instead the waitress came round with a tea pot, which she poured from. Hence, we had to ask for a top-up each time. Overall, good service, but we were disappointed with the tea pot service.

The price at the time we were there in mid June was very good value for the room. Our room was well appointed and overlooked the Bay. Only problem was, there were no chairs in the room, just a pouffe. We would prefer chairs to sit on rather than sitting on the bed. The outside seating areas were OK if the weather is good. We sat inside the large dining room having our coffee from the room and it didn't seem to be a problem as not many folk eating. We arrived by train and railway station about 15 minutes walk away. Nice and quiet place to stay with lovely easy walking places nearby.
No chairs in the room.

The position of the Commodore was great. Our room had amazing view over the bay.Very centrally situated for several restaurants. The hotel was being refurbished so in some ways is a work in progress but the quality of furnishings in our room was excellent. We were made very welcome by staff and in particular Carl could not have been more friendly and helpful. Certainly looking forward to staying here again in the future we were made to feel at home. Thankyou 🙂
Unfortunately restaurant was closed during our stay but did not spoil our visit.

Great location with nice bay windows overlooking the beach. Traveled by train and less than a ten minute walk from the station Very quiet for a pub whilst we were there so good nights sleep. We didn’t have a breakfast but had an evening meal. Usual pub grub but very good food and beer. Staff friendly and helpful
The room had brewing facilities but only hot chocolate and biscuits, no tea, coffee or milk. The bathroom should have an extractor fan, or at least an opening window. I would have thought this was a building regulations requirement? Water dripped in through the ceiling trapdoor during an extremely heavy downpour. Fortunately this was in the passageway and not in the bedroom. Although it rained on other occasions, it didn’t do it again.

It was close enough to the centre of town and the train station to make walking the first choice. As we paid board only we had freedom to dine out but we always had the option to dine in too. There was also an alternative route so you didn't have to go down into the bar area when going out. This was useful when using a walking stick.
For what we paid there wasn't a downside really though somethings were clearly showing their age

Fantastic view, comfortable, warm room. Staff very friendly and welcoming, especially two members. The lady who does the cleaning and serves the breakfasts and the young guy who serves behind the bar and also does the breakfasts. Such lovely members of staff and whoever does the cooking needs a pay rise!!. Best breakfast I've had anywhere. 👍
The Thursday evening we were there , the bar area didn't feel very welcoming and barlady seemed to be wanting to closing early, so we left.

Our daughter was having breakfast, as we were staying elsewhere, but we arranged to meet. Chef asked if we were eating but as we had already eaten we declined. However he sent a massive breakfast for our daughter as he ‘couldn’t bear the thought of us sitting watching her eat’. There was more than enough for all of us and he refused to take any payment. Many thanks to him as it certainly warmed us up on a miserable rainy day😊

Food was superb, comfortable room, lovely view, great location & friendly staff. Nice pub, cracking pint and made welcome by locals which added to the overall enjoyment. Main point though is the price...exceptional value for money
Certain areas there was just a lack of attention to detail. A cobweb here & there, blue tack on walls. The area between residents access & bar was underwhelming. It was not reflective of the rest of the property.Fresh laundry chucked in piles, bare walls, post left on carpet. Service at breakfast was slow, in nearly a hour we'd only had our cereals but we weren't in a rush but it was well worth the wait. It was superb. We didn't get a "proper" welcome & on checking out wasn't asked how things had been. Just little things that prevented a full score but the plus points far outweighed the negative ones and for what we paid it was great value for money & exceeded our expectations

Food was very good and in large portions. Wonderful view over the bay and room was a reasonable size. Good range of real ale.
The Powder Room had an entirely enclosed en-suite bathroom. That would normally be okay. One problem was there was no light switch - instead there was a motion sensor which was erratic and often left you in the dark and sometimes came on even if the door was closed with no one in there. Also on two mornings there was no hot water. On one morning a member of staff managed to switch it on and on another I was able to use a shower in another room. These were inconveniences which did not effect the overall high quality of our stay.
