The bedroom block was away from busy pub so nice and quiet. The room was very big and beautifully decorated. Lots of tea, coffee, milk, 3 cups and teaspoons, 3 glasses and a large bottle of tap water that can be refilled from outside tap. The TV is good size. 2 comfy chairs in the room a huge king size and a single bed. Breakfast served 8.30 - 9.30. Great choices. Yogurt, cereals, fruit juices Then 7 items to make your own breakfast. The produce is all locally sourced and tastes quality. We ate at the pub for evening meals. Excellent quality and chef cooked the meals to very high standard. We will be back...

Everything had a great stay didn't want to leave. The staff and locals and everyone who works and lives there were very helpful, great service, great food, ect.... couldn't do enough for you. Very friendly also the dog is lovely and well behaved and very dog friendly. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a break away in the lakes. It's so quite and has alot of good places to go and great scenery. Iv stayed in many places when away but this break was the best so far. Can't fault anything or any of my stay. Worth the money . I'm planing on going bk next year already and if there was bad weather you don't have to drive to a pub as everything all on site. Pub restaurant rooms ect.... Also it may look small from outside but it much bigger than u think. X

Comfortable well equipped room, ample parking. Friendly staff, very good breakfast and excellent evening meals, though it does get very busy, but the staff are always on top of everything. A bit isolated, though Kendal is walkable, it took us 45mins and there are bus and train services available.

Unfortunately, during our visit we had an inconsiderate family as neighbours who were letting their child run around the room. It is an old building and was noisy, though this was no fault of the hotel staff.

Everything! Very nice staff, went out of their way to help us where they could! Fyi the bar is also the reception, it seems, so it doesn't matter which way you go in! Nice room with shower and bath, heating works very well snd hot water ( careful with the hot tap!) Also very nice breakfast and nice location, nice walk with great views starting just opposite the house! (" the helm")

Only the dark hill leading up to it that I had not been aware of. Bring a torch if you are arriving after 4pm in winter!! In the morning from 8 am there seems to be a noise every time someone in the building has a shower or goes to the loo ( not sure which). But if you want any breakfast you should be up at that point anyway...

The property was in a great location and really beautiful in terms of scenery and atmosphere. It was very homely, and the staff were so friendly. Particularly Dan who made us feel like a part of the family. We were greeted and shown to our family room immediately, and given a run down of everything from the building, to dinner reservations which were able to be made immediately, and breakfast in the morning. We were shown the room which was lovely and cosy, very spacious and comfortable, with great facilities for storage, making hot drinks, a modern TV and WiFi. The guestbook had everything we needed and we were able to get settled in very easily. We booked for dinner in the pub restaurant and the food was so lovely. The service was fantastic, Dan again coming in strong with jokes and made us feel right at home. We headed out and the staff were so kind to help us with taxi’s etc, and we arrived home after a night out and were able to get a lovely nights sleep. In the morning we headed to breakfast and the service by Dan was excellent, and the food was lovely. We were able to check out with ease and the lovely dog came and saw us out too! I love that the place is dog friendly! All in all, we will definitely be back again. I cannot tell you how accommodating and warm the staff were and the place felt. Thank you!

The only thing that seemed to let the room down every so slightly was that the walls and ceilings were paper thin, and as we were on the ground floor we were able to hear every footstep or door from upstairs which is difficult to control due to the age of the building I’m sure. Also, the water pressure is similar in that it is likely hard to control, but the shower was very weak and the taps too. We stayed for one night, so this wasn’t too much of an issue but I think if we were there for any more than two this could have affected our stay. At breakfast it would be nice to have the offer of a machine coffee as opposed to filter, at least for the first drink, as this was missed.

Lovely large bedroom although a lot of noise from upstairs but that stopped come bedtime. Excellent good value food in the bar. We didnt have breakfast so cannot comment but for £8.99 it looked to be a good value offering. The staff went out of their way to help us. The bathroom had a shower over the bath but mobility issues meant I could not get in to the bath. A seperate shower cubicle would have been nice, but, no doubt people would then complain there wasnt a bath so they cant win either way!

The three steps from the car park to the bedroom block are very uneven and do not have a handrail so made it difficult for myself with a walking stick to get up and down. A simple handrail on one side would cure this.

We arrived very late in the evening due to the heavy fog. The receptionist received us with warmth and a beer for my husband. I think we were the last guests to arrive that day. Peaceful and quiet. The bedroom was spacious for our family of four. Bath room large and clean. We loved the traditional barn styled English house. So much culture! We also loved the free English breakfast!

The initial teacups didn't appear clean. However, the waitress quickly exchanged with squeaky clean cups. We were not bothered at all and were happy with the new cups.

Busy in the restaurant when we arrived on a Sunday, but we were quickly seen to and shown our room. Booked a table straightaway for food and luckily there was one available. Would book in advance at the weekend. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Food was excellent and staff were really friendly and efficient. First holiday with our dogs, who were a bit nervous, but all staff from front of house through to the chefs after they finished work, made such an effort with them and gave them a treats, so they felt relaxed. Breakfast excellent too. Would definitely recommend and return.

Mathew and Sam were very friendly and a credit to the business. We didn't meet the chef but the breakfast was excellent. We would definitely stay again. Glad it was out of season though as I believe they get very busy. Some visitors turned up 2 min before the kitchen closed..but they were still served food and made to feel welcome. Nice log burning fire in the pub which I imagine is very welcome in the winter. They are dog friendly so if you have an allergy be warned. Thank you very much guys see you soon.

location was amazing - was such a good find that next time I'm visiting will certainly give it a preference - with easy access to lakes, m6 and yorkshire dales. rooms were very comfortable and had a charming decor - and one of the best showers in hotels i have experienced. Although we arrived late and we couldn't dine at pub (kitchen closes around 8pm) - but looked like a great place to socialise. tea/coffee facilities in room were an added bonus. staff were very helpful too - as one of us forgot a jacket in a room and they kept it safe for us to collect later or even willing to post it out if needed.
