We stayed in Room 4. It was a very big room with a super king bed which was fabulous. We slept very, very well. Our breakfast in the morning was gorgeous, great service and very good quality meat.

For the price we paid for the room, I was expecting a little more, I have to admit. There was no hairdryer in the room, my husband had to retrieve one from reception. When he did, it was definitely past its best- it was the loudest and most dated hairdryer I have ever used. Secondly, I was expecting a waterfall shower over the bath. There was only an attachment, which again, was quite dated. I was also expecting robes and slippers, given again, the price we paid and the fact that the property advertises itself as five star. Lastly, while our breakfast was gorgeous, there was no cold selection at all. No pastries or yoghurts while we waited. We could have requested granola but it was disappointing not to have a small buffet selection there.

Friendly, professional staff who provided excellent service throughout our visit. Clean bedding and towels, comfortable bed and pillows. Lovely breakfast. Great atmosphere in Platos winebar. The location was good.

Bedroom 8 on first impression was great, stylish decor, but practically, it wasn't laid out well. Slopping ceilings meant that you couldn't sit on the sofa, and there wasn't another chair. I didn't find a socket near the large mirror to use a hairdryer and had to sit on the floor. The hanging space was in an alcove, but the rail was low, and dresses crumbled on the floor. I would visit the hotel again but request another room.

The location of this hotel is perfect in the heart of Kirby Lonsdale. The staff here are exceptional in every way, friendly accommodating and go the extra mile. The breakfasts use high quality ingredients and are perfected cooked . The evening meals are delicious.

Sadly the maintenance in the room was a little lacking, the rooms are clean and nicely decorated. But things need to be fixed, such as fan in bathroom, and castors on the bed. We loved our stay though and hope that these things get a little more attention.

Plato's is a lovely boutique hotel in the interesting, historic, hilly, and beautiful old town of Kirby Lonsdale, which is perfectly situated for touring both The Lakes and The Yorkshire Dales. Our comfortable and nicely-appointed room was on the third floor and had a window seat that overlooked the street. Somewhat tucked away, the hotel was quiet, even though it was near the center of town. We appreciated the excellent breakfasts--and the pass for free parking in the nearly lot.

Having to park a few blocks away was a bit inconvenient, but not as bad as we first thought. We spent the days touring the countryside, so we were in and out of the car a lot.

Amazing hotel right in the middle of a vibrant village!!! Staff and rooms were amazing with breakfast being incredible even with my food allergies! Only small let down would’ve been the parking situation, whilst the venue offers a parking permit for free parking near to booths in the town centre this does NOT guarantee a space. In regard to parking the best options is past the orange tree pub on the side of the road. Bar the parking situation the stay was flawless with the room being in excellent condition and the staff being very attentive!

Friendly staff, excellent breakfast with many cooked options. Room very clean but far too hot overnight with a heavy duvet provided on the bed. Good range of extras provided in the room, thank you.

Hotel has no parking nearby, so you have to unload bags quickly whilst parked on yellow lines then drive back to top of the town where free overnight parking is offered on production of the hotel pass. This was explained in the confirmation message but only works if there are 2 or more people in your group.

Lovely place old property on the heart of the town Had a minor issue with our room but this was speeding resolved and we were upgraded at no charge .Owner and staff excellent nothing to much trouble only issue felt that restaurant was a little overpriced trying too hard to be up market and not quite managing it. Overall though staff lovely location great and property full of character would certainly strongly recommend

Only minus was food in restaurant limited menu and pricy for what you received

I suffer a mobility problem as I am waiting for a new knee and stairs are a problem. On arriving,being shown to our room I realised it was on the second floor and extremely difficult to negotiate. Ben, who showed us to the room also noticed and he came back minutes after leaving and offered us a free upgrade to a room on the first floor. This saved our holiday, can’t Plato’s enough.

A bit more information would help, as in the location of the rooms, also the property description says no parking available, but the first thing I was asked was did I need a parking permit they provide free of charge. I had already spent £20 for 3 Days parking.

Situated at the centre, the hotel was ideal for walking out and exploring this very attractive small town. The decor of the hotel was stylish and original. The reception was very helpful. Dinner was excellent, and breakfast of a high order. The room, equipped with good facilities, was well furnished to make the most of limited space, and had limited but interesting views over the courtyard and street.

We had difficulty getting the coffee right at breakfast. Parking, provided free to guests in the nearby town carpark, was not very convenient and could have made arrival and departure difficult in bad weather, but that is the cost of being at the centre of a town with narrow streets.

Great location in town with lovely quaint outside seating area, very clean tidy and modern throughout, a lovely period building with beams and charm. Staff extremely friendly.

Very hot front bedroom, cooler unit was in the room which helped a little because of the lovely sunny weather - not complaining though. Small room for the price. Parking permit wasn’t for any car park ( as mentioned online) it was only to be used in car park no.2 in town so we moved the car there. Useful to know.
