Our stay at Oakfold house was excellent and we would definitely stay again. When we visit the area in the future, it would be the first place we would look for availability. Oakfold house is a lovely building and the owners were friendly and very helpful. The breakfasts (we tried the Cumbrian and vegetarian cooked breakfasts) were cooked to order and very good. Our room was the attic room. It was advertised as being small and so we knew it was the smallest room in the building. However, for a couple it was perfect and I would recommend it without hesitation. The value for money is exceptional. The room was clean, comfortable and well laid out. Despite being compact, there was plenty of storage and an en suite bathroom. Good choice of tea, coffee and biscuits provided in the room. We had a perfect stay in the lake district and this B&B was a large part of our experience. I can't recommend it enough.

We had the most wonderful stay at Oakfold House, truly one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever stayed. Everything was spotless, the beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the whole house has such a warm and cosy atmosphere. Robyn and Chris were absolutely fantastic hosts, so lovely and welcoming and their breakfasts were simply delicious, with an incredible attention to detail. We would highly recommend staying here, it’s left such a lasting impression on us. Thank you for having us Robyn and Chris!

This house is perfect: 1. It is conveniently located, quiet despite being in a bustling area, and clean and comfortable. 2. The breakfast is sumptuous and delicious. Chris's cooking skills are amazing, and the ingredients are fresh and prepared with great care. I had my 10-night stay in London, I found the quality and standard of this breakfast exceeded the average in London. 3. The landlord couple are very kind, hardworking, simple and well-mannered. Due to an unexpected event, I forgot the check-out date and thought it was the next day. I left on the check-out day, which forced the landlord couple to pack up all my luggage and make alternative arrangements so they could accommodate the waiting guests. Despite such a big trouble and unexpected workload, they showed no complaint and kindly expressed understanding.

I chose Oakfold House as my accommodation for my very first solo holiday. I am so glad I did. This holiday was a big deal to me, a huge confidence hurdle for me to overcome and I felt safe and looked after at Oakfold. My room was beautiful, spotless and that bed is the comfiest bed l've ever slept in. Breakfast was second to none. Excellent food and service from the very lovely owners. The location is also great, right on top of bus stops and a five minute walk into Bowness. I was so very sad to leave. I would really love to go back and stay there again. It will be my first choice next time. Thank you for such a lovely 4 day stay.

Oakfold House is beautiful! From the stunning garden it’s set behind to the charming interiors, made-with-love breakfasts and kind, attentive owners. My room was extra comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the added touches like the tea and coffee making station with cookies were much appreciated. The location is wonderful too - very quiet, but only a short stroll to the village a waterfront. Highly recommend a walk to Brantfell - it’s not a long walk but the journey is stunning and the view at the end isn’t something you’ll forget in a hurry. Thank you so much to Robyn and Chris for such a perfect stay.

We’ve stayed in Bowness many times before but this was our first stay at Oakfold House. Robyn and Chris were very welcoming and the house had a lovely atmosphere to it. Our room was bigger than expected with the added bonus of a fridge, which is ideal if you take your own drinks and snacks. The bed was really comfortable and the room was quiet so we were able to get a good nights sleep. Robyn and Chris ask that you place your hot breakfast order the day before. This helped with the follow of serving breakfast in the morning which wasn’t an issue for us. The hot breakfast was beautifully presented and cooked exceptionally well. There were also choices of fruit, yoghurts, cereal and juices in the breakfast room for you to help yourself. Overall we had a lovely stay and will definitely look at booking again.

Nothing that we didn’t like but just be aware that the carpark is a little tight if the property is busy. We parked on the small carpark which belongs to the holiday flats behind the house. This did not in anyway have a negative impact on our stay but it’s something to be aware of if you go by car.

Robyn and Chris are the best hosts I've ever met! They are super helpful, friendly, and easy-going. The house and its garden are so beautiful and well-maintained. The room is even much nicer than the photos, completely over our expectation. I also love how peaceful and tranquil the surrounding is. Even it was fully booked during our stay, we never felt disturbed by other guests. We were able to rest and sleep very well every night. The breakfast is also amazing, your main dish is made fresh every morning. They are very generous with choices and portion. The location is also superb, it's in walking distance to the train station and the lake. We stayed for 3 nights but would love to stay longer :)

Nothing to dislike

The breakfast was excellent and clearly cooked with a great deal of care and culinary understanding! There was enough variety to have a different breakfast every day for a week and special requests were always fulfilled. We enjoyed the small chats with Chris and Robyn and felt very welcome for the entirety of our stay.

It’s really not necessary, but we personally would have enjoyed a slightly bigger TV as we stayed for a week and would have loved a movie night. Other than that everything was wonderful!

Absolutely gorgeous stay at Oakfold House. Location was ideal, almost in the middle of Bowness and Windermere - could easily walk to both or hop on the bus opposite the house, which run every 20 minutes. The house itself was beautiful and so warm / cosy, which I wasn't expecting with it being an older property full of character. We had room 1 on the ground floor with a double and single bed. Room and house was spotless and spacious. En suite was a good size and shower lovely and hot. Beds were very comfy and we slept really well both nights. We booked breakfast both mornings and highly recommend the vegetarian breakfast - everything was fresh and hot. Very enjoyable stay and hosts were lovely - thank you!
