The location was excellent, walking distance to Windermere and Bowness. Staff very friendly, the receptionist was extremely knowledgeable about the local area and transport links. Excellent breakfast choice.
Cleanliness was a bit of an issue. We had several large cobwebs hanging from light fittings and around the wall/ceiling area. Shower screen needs replacing as it is very worn. The curtains were missing lots of hooks and so looked very messy and were difficult to pull together.

Staff, very polite and friendly, the location was superb, breakfast was plentiful and good choice,
The floorboards above room 104 need urgent attention, every time the people in the room above walk around you could hear everything, this didn’t help when they were early risers 6am

The room we had was very comfortable with an en-suite facility, which was okay but perhaps slightly on the small side and rather annoyingly there was no shelving for wash bags or soap/shampoo holder in the shower plus shower door did not close properly. The location is ideal for access to Windermere and Bowness which both boast good eating establishments. The Hotel is on a busy road although this was not a problem due to excellent double glazing. The site line onto the road when leaving the hotel car park was a slight problem and at this time of year there is a constant flow of pedestrians walking past the hotel entrance/exit which could impede a car departing the car park. In general the hotel is very comfortable with pleasant furnishings and a very pleasant dining room for breakfasts which are of a good standard and choice of menu. All the staff were exceptionally polite and very pleasant. In general we had a very enjoyable stay.
The hotel is starting to look a little tired in its decor, inside and out. There are not sufficient parking spaces for a hotel with 30 rooms. Although we did manage just to always park within the hotel grounds. We had a ground floor room which is a disadvantage in some respects due to other guests being above and the movement over a slightly creaky floor could be annoying at times.

We stopped for two nights to break up our motorcycle journey from Scotland to Cornwall, we enjoyed our stay so much we booked and stayed for 2 nights the following week on our return home. Good parking at the back of the property so our bike was secure and out of sight from the main road. Rooms are extremely clean, well decorated with very comfortable beds. The small bar is well priced, breakfast in the morning is excellent. Great location, 10 minute walk uphill to Windermere high Street or a 10/15 minute walk downhill to Bowness and Lake Windermere. We will definitely stay here again.
Nothing to dislike.

This is so difficult to review. I say this because there are new owners apparently and my understanding is that they wish to improve the facilities. What did I like? without doubt the staff are really friendly, efficient and couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast was superb, and the dining room is very welcoming albeit a little cold as the outside door was left open continually. There is a lovely bar area and the location of the hotel is good. Nearer to Windermere than Bo’ness but easily walkable for able bodied people.
The bedroom was quite tired and noise from upstairs rooms and next door room can be heard. Thankfully there were no early risers or party goers whilst we were there. Simply the age of the building causing the problem. The decor is tired throughout and the carpets are very, very well worn. This is what makes it difficult to review because you halve the potential for this to be a top hotel and if the new owners were to invest in refurbishment and I suspect they will, then it really will be a place worth returning to.

The breakfast was delicious. The room was very clean, nice gifts in the room, plenty of drink sachets, chocolates and bathroom products. It was nice and warm in the room so we just switched radiator off, and opened window. It is a very good location. Plenty of parking. Very nice reception staff. This room could do with a little upgrade but we paid good price and most importantly it was very clean. We would definitely stop here again and recommend to others.
We stopped in a room with four poster bed but the room wasn’t big enough to take the four poster. It meant one of us couldn’t see the full screen on the tv as it was blocked by the post. For this room I would just have a normal bed. The wallpaper was coming off the wall near the window, small thing but with upgrade it would be great.

Lovely property with a nice comfortable room and friendly staff. Good breakfast each morning with a decent selection of food. The communal areas seemed well maintained and saw lots of guests making use of the bar and lounge areas.
Very little, however, the shower pressure in our room was very poor (not great if you had been out walking all day). Also it was quite warm in the room during mild summer weather, can imagine it being very uncomfortable in high heat. (We were on the top floor). Breakfast starts at 8.30 in the morning so have to miss it if you want an early start.

I loved my stay at "Woodlands". The location was good, between Windermere & Bowness with frequent buses if you don't want to walk. Room was lovely with comfy bed and modern en-suite – all very clean and well presented, with a couple of extra touches. Breakfast was fabulous, high quality food and service, in a lovely light-filled room. A special experience for me, as I don't usually eat breakfast.
On checkout I rang the bell 3 times, with no response. I asked a passing cleaning staff member if she knew where the receptionist was. She replied that reception is unattended between certain hours, and I should leave the key in the basket. I was not aware of this (should have been notified on check-in) and the basket clasp was covering the sign that said to leave the key in the basket. This was no big deal, but I felt could have been done better. I am 63 and have never checked out of accommodation before without being attended to by staff (unless previously arranged).

Lovely building tastefully decorated throughout.Large room and comfortable bed.Everywhere was spotlessly clean Great location midway between Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere.Tasty breakfasts. Friendly staff and onsite parking.
Hotel was too noisy for us and this disturbed our sleep Floorboards above us banged everytime someone moved. Also we could hear them talking loudly until.after midnight.Something was turned on at 7am which sounded like jumbo jets were taking off.Room was also too light for us.We had a fire escape in our room and the nets covering the door let in light all night.

We liked everything! We paid 125 pounds for a night (3 persons) and though I specifically chose hotel with very good reviews I was expecting a small room for such (not expensive for Windermere) price. However, all our expectation were exceeded. The room was a really good size! Very lovely and cosy. High quality bedding, comfort beds. Free parking is included, and I think there was enough place for all guests. Breakfast was included too and it was really good. You can choose between full English breakfast, vegetarian breakfast, salmon with scrambled eggs and pancakes (coffee, tea, fruits, cereals, juices, toasts, jams are included too). Pancakes were amazing with a lot of berries on top. Staff was very lovely.
There is nothing we didn't like! We would definitely stay in the same hotel again. But you should know, that there is now lift there (we stayed at the top floor and it was no problem for us).
