We were in the studio so in addition to the comfortable bedroom there was a bright living room/diner and kitchen area to enjoy too plus a good sized bathroom. Private parking immediately outside too. The kitchen could have been better stocked and we were asked to contact staff if we wanted to use the cooker. There wasn’t a microwave but everything else provided, all of a high quality. We enjoyed reading the books left for us and the jigsaw! The breakfast in the restaurant was superb as was the evening meal choice. We felt very spoilt. The location is excellent with easy access to the main road but also the lovely lanes around the Lyth Valley and beyond. Sizergh Castle with its farm shop and Levens Hall very close by.

We absolutely loved our two night stay at the Hare and Hounds. It is in our opinion like an old world coaching Inn. Nooks and crannies, the odd low headroom doorway etc. Friendly staff and enjoyed the food, breakfast was lovely. We really liked the fact that while dining there were no TVs on in the background. How many places are there now with TVs on while you are eating, absolutely stifling the art of conversation.

Nothing that we did not like, just one thing as you would totally expect there are no lifts but it is only a few stairs up to the bedrooms but if you had severe mobility issues you might have a problem.

The Hare and Hounds is an attractive pub at the foot of Levens village. The staff were friendly and extremely accommodating. They provided storage for our bikes in their garage and very kindly allowed us use of the washing machine. We stayed in the Barn Annexe at the rear and above the pub but couldn't hear anything from below. The finish and comfort was beyond our expectations, with all the guest information you would need, views over the countryside and the brownies in the fridge were delicious! The kingsize bed was very comfortable. We could have cooked dinner in the annexe, as the facilities were excellent but chose to eat in the pub. We shared the fish platter which was 10/10. We also enjoyed a delicious high quality breakfast with fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, full English, smoked salmon and scrambled egg. We could easily have stayed here for longer and would not hesitate to recommend this place. We would also recommend a visit to the village shop (it's more than a shop!) and to Levens Hall and Gardens.

The property was chosen because of the great reviews and it was just half an hour from a wedding we were going to. There is a big free car park and it is just a few minutes drive from the A590. We had an easy check-in with Steve showing us to our rooms. The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and so warm and welcoming. They were brilliant! The rooms were fabulous with attention to detail and lovely products in the bathrooms which were super-clean and luxurious. The deluxe studio is very elegant and lots of space and huge bathroom. We had an exceptional dinner (do book, it’s very popular). Breakfast was also cooked to order and superb, with nothing too much trouble and lots of choice. Honestly, we came away feeling very spoilt and all of us very happy with our stay.

Overall, excellent, and will definitely be back, we both found our accommodations to be warm, comfortable, and clean, proving that the owners and staff have exacting standards... Great gate-way location for exploration of Cumbria and the Lake District... The food in the bar is excellent, with plenty to choose from, with daily specials on, a good wine list and desert specials... It's also obvious that the providence of the produce is both local and of a very high standard, and was much enjoyed...

Very little, I would be nit-picking, and the items that come to mind will possibly be rectified by the next visitors' stay... One of the door knobs was looseon the bedroom door. The pillows a little too dense for us both (but that's subjective) and as our stay was 4 nights, a few more options for breakfast would be good - (though we stayed off season, this may well be different 'in-season') ...

Absolutely perfect for a weekend in the south of the Lakes. The quality of the breakfast was possibly the best we've had in any hotel. Lovely ingredients and beautifully cooked. Piping hot which is so unusual and lots of choice. The coffee is really good too. Our room was delightful, beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, with quality complimentary toiletries. The staff are super friendly, the wine & beers inn the pub are great. We ate in the restaurant one evening which was also lovely quality - our whole stay was faultless and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hare & Hounds. We will definitely return. Thank you!

The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The room was exceptionally clean and provided lots of pleasant extras. Fridge with ordinary milk and waters in the room was very well received.A great selection of toiletries on offer too . The dinner was exceptional, well presented and most enjoyable from a varied menu. Breakfast was very good too. Having scrambled eggs and smoked salmon was fantastic- a particular favourite of mine.

Walk in shower was very welcome but we did have a trouble getting the water temperature right.

Excellent stay at the fabulous Hare and Hounds Levens. We stayed in the 'Barn Annexe' a self contained apartment, and doggy could stay too ! The Annexe is very comfortable and cosy, extremely well decorated and furnished and well equipped kitchen. Breakfast was in the Pub both mornings we were there, loads of choice of cereals, yogurts and fruit as well as a cooked menu to choose from. We also ate in the Pub one of the evenings, again an excellent menu. All in all it was Perfect. Location, accommodation and the Staff are so helpful and friendly.

Staff welcoming! I had the Bennett room, it was lovely, the bath was huge, so I enjoyed a very relaxing bubble bath, room was immaculate and had loads of little cute extras, very quaint but modern and well thought out, its in a little village with walks if that's what your looking for, we were there just as a stop over and relax. We had evening meal and breakfast, was top quality food and service, relaxed but classy.

Liked everything, bit more expensive than I would usually pay but worth it!

Our double room was the perfect size for our 2 nights stay. It had a fridge, tea and coffee facilities (including fresh milk), a comfortable good sized bed, plenty of wardrobe space, a nice powerful shower in a decent sized bathroom. There was also extra storage on the wide window cill and bedside tables. Food downstairs was amazing, and reasonably priced, so would definitely recommend trying that out for your evening meal if you are staying - just be sure to pre-book.
