We booked a room with a sea view and the view from our room was stunning. Amazing location right next to a very good snorkelling beach. Very friendly staff with a relaxed holiday atmosphere. The room was very clean and comfortable and had very good views of the sea. The Spot cafe next to the hotel is run by the same company and provides good evening food and drinks in a relaxed outdoor environment with on several nights live music. Only a very short drive from the airport which is very good after a long flight.

No written information about the meals offered in the main hotel including times, menu and cost. We had breakfast at the hotel once and were not impressed. Information about the opening times of the Spot cafe as we found it was closed on a Thursday.

Location... Location... Location... This is our second time staying at Chantauvent. The guesthouse has 2 parts, one on the beach and another just across the road, which we preferred to be across the road. It was less windy when the wind picked up. The hotel has the beach front access and the jetty just in front of the guesthouse, which you can jump off and snorkel into the paradise.. Close to the airport, which we also preferred this. There is no need to drive for an hour and a half to get to the other side of the island.

The mattress can do with a bit firmer. It just too soft for our liking.

We stayed 3 days in a room nr. 5 with a sea view. Beautiful “old bones” with a vaulted ceiling and lovely vintage bent wood & rattan furniture and a small terrace. The see view is spectacular and is literally 10 m to the sea straight to coral reefs.

The room has a strong old dump cellar odour (sea side with high humidity), the was not another room free, so we had to stay in this room. Air Conditioning + room dehumidifier solved most of the problem. Bedding linens are made of Polycotton, so bring your own if you prefer cotton. Sliding window panniers on a terrace were very “seaside dirty” (salt + humidity), same for restaurant panels. This was mentioned by someone in a review, so bring windows cleaning wipes, the view is worth the effort .

Very nice accommodation. My apartment was right next to the pool, which was nice. The beach is really close to the apartment, as is the bus stop to Mahebourg. The apartment was clean, well equipped, working air conditioning, cleaned regularly. I can recommend it for myself.

The kitchen was not quite well equipped for cooking. It lacked some basic ingredients like oil or salt, which you don't want to buy when you come for three nights. I would have appreciated a welcome bottle of water like in all other apartments in Mauritius. The restaurant belonging to the accommodation didn't quite have a good selection of food, especially if you don't eat meat and eat healthier. The restaurants in the area were similar. On my last day I had a mouse in the apartment :/ You could understand, after all we are on a tropical island. But it didn't get in through the door, but through a hole in the kitchen sink, which is not pleasant.

We liked the garden and restaurant with sea view where we enjoyed breakfast with birds sharing our meals, also romantic dinners with ocean view and waves crushing. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast could be more varied. Dinners were cancelled twice because not enough guests and we were sent to Spot cafe. Quality was not the same and also loud music. We wish to future guests that it will be up to their choice, either take the selection of Spot cafe or being reimbursed for money paid in advance.

Staff were friendly and helpful from reception to chef to maintenance ( not required, just friendly). It had a lovely atmosphere. Right on the beach, which can be windy, and a very short walk around the corner to Blue Bay, which was calmer.

Ants (very large) in the room, had to use the spray several times around the patio doors and windows. Quite a large step up into the shower. That said, Ants wouldn't always appear and I'm not that tall!!

It is very close both to Mahebourg and the airport, so I spent my last 3 days here, before flying home. Despite the proximity, the taking offs and landings were not disturbing, the place was quiet at night. The breakfast was great at the seaview terrace, turquoise, birds, sunshine, very relaxing mornings. The beach in front of the hotel is narrow and has some rocks, but if you walk a few hundreds meters left or right you can find fully sandy beach access. Also you can just snorkel or take a kayak in front of the hotel, a lot to see underwater, coralls, fish. The hotel's snack bar is just accross the street and offers westersn style food throughout the whole day, does not close in the afternoon. I was upgraded to a seaview room which is an extra bonus. If you do not expect a five star resort then you will enjoy your stay here.

The location of Chantauvent Guest House at Blue Bay is great. It offers a combination of relaxing beach days including snorkeling, ping pong and some drinks & food. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. What we would like to highlight is the friendly personal that helped us whenever we had a request regarding the room, potential trips or anything else.

The room we got first was just freshly cleaned (in general a positive thing) but to us the cleaning products they used smelled strongly/agressive. Since we had some concerns about this we asked for help and got offered two alternative rooms to choose from. With this uncomplicated and courteous solution we were happy in the end.

What a gem 😊. If peace & quiet is what you're after, with spectacular turquoise sea & white sands, with completely safe swimming, then Chantauvent should be your choice for your first few days on Ile Maurice. The staff are very helpful, kind, yet very quiet and the breakfast is absolutely superb. I had the bottom floor room with a kitchen which was fantastic. The fridge is nice & big too. There are lovely, fresh, bright white towels in the bathroom & one asks at reception for a beautiful turquoise coloured swimming towel. This is quite an exclusive B&B, but tranquil & 'far from the madding crowd". Worth it to stay here for a few days 👍 P.S. and do please go and eat at Blue Bamboo....the most exquisite food & vibe just a short walk up the road...and 1 of only 2 places in my 16 day trip, where I could get a beautiful, big, fresh & colourful salad. Was simply delicious!

The only drawbacks I can think of, are the fact that: 1) They do not provide bathsoap (only a tiny little bar which would not even last me my 5 days stay!)...nor is there anywhere in the shower to leave/stand ones shower gel. 2) The planes take off & land right over Blue Bay, so the noise takes a bit of getting used to!
