We got our room upgraded when we checked in, which was definitely a plus, as we received a Lakeview and a larger room. The hotel is completely new, so everything in the room, including all the equipment, is brand new. However, the sink is slightly uncomfortable, as it’s hard to wash out things that get stuck around it. The price for the hotel and the location is reasonable. The breakfast was quite rich, they are also offering one hot dish made from eggs. There is also a coffee machine and teapot in the room. Overall, it was a nice stay.

During the day, there are still some renovation and construction works going on, which can get quite loud if you want to relax in the hotel during that time. The room lacks a fridge, and there is no reception, so everything is done automatically. The online system sometimes glitches, requiring you to ask the bar staff on the ground floor for help. The website mentioned that they provide train tickets, but when we inquired, they said they would ask the manager and never followed up. Additionally, I tried to use a promo code from their website before booking on their website, but the system wouldn’t accept it, and my email inquiry was ignored. This indicates some issues with their communication with clients.

We’re not a “city trip“ family so not interested in the center of Zurich. We loved ”the yarn“! Very close to Lindt visitor center. Close to beaches along the Zurich lake. Easy to drive to Lucerne, Zurich airport, Alpamare…

Limited parking places

The selection of the breakfast was really amazing. You were able to select from fresh fruits, different versions of bread, fresh eggs, Omeletts as well as fish, ham, salami, yam, Muesli, yogurt and so on. The size of the room was fantastic, the room interior was brand new as well as the comfort of the bed was really create.

Parking area is quite dense and the garage is quite narrow. For EV drivers, only 2 charging ports are available which can not be reserved in case you drive an EV. At my room was no light installed above the mirror in the bathroom. Hence, for shaving was the light quite dark at the bathroom.

The entire place was fantastic. The closeness to the train terminal literally 1 minute walk, the check-in to the hotel, the staff were sweet & friendly and inviting (compliments to Christine and the team), also the food was delicious - great breakfast and lastly, the rooms were just world class. Sad that we weren't able to book the lake view room but despite that, the room was just fantastic. Compliments to Nicole, Christine and the team. We just love your hotel and we were honored to spend new years 2025 with you all at the Yarn! Hope we can join some form of loyalty club for the hotel to always stay here. One of the best hotel experiences, my wife and I have ever had. Thank you all.

New, clean and beautiful rooms. The beds are comfortable, the wc and shower are spotless. Cant go wrong with this hotel.

Very nice Hotel! Of course it‘s in a small town and there you don‘t have price levels like in big cities, but as a frequent traveller I was really impressed by the value/price ratio. The hotel is brand new, nothing worn down, everything shines. You can also tell that everything is thought through, much love and attention to details.

Rich Breakfast buffet really good and meets international standards. Maybe it was just me, but somehow the breakfast experience was a bit weird. First I came with my room key to announce myself for included breakfast. The staff member was unfriendly/indifferent/annoyed. Then I had difficulties to help myself at the buffet, the utilities and food arrangement felt a bit unpractical. It was not clear at all that my cutlery will be placed at the table of my choice and there was no one at the time I came, I felt a bit lost. Cutlery should already be on the table for a welcoming experience. While having bf, I witnessed another staff member delivering a 5-star service to other guests, as so often, people make the difference.

The hotel has been recently renovated to an extent that makes it appear and feel brand new. I loved the interior design of our room, aesthetics, materials, execution, .. everything. The room was overlooking the train station across the street, but the windows block the noise very effectively. Bed linen was super fine and comfy, we are googling the maker to buy some for home. Staff was all smiles and very efficient. The breakfast buffet exceeded all my expectations , in terms of available choices and quality. Undoubtedly the Yarn will be our first choice every time we go back to the region.

In the room there is nowhere to hang a long garment, like a gown or long overcoat.

The staff was exceptionally kind and friendly. My colleague and I were greeted by the most friendly receptionist who did all she could to make us comfortable and feel welcomed. We showed up around 4:30 pm, utterly exhasuted after traveling Italy and Switzerland for the past 2 weeks -- new city and new hotel every night. She could see it in our faces how exhausted and stressed we were. We wanted to explore the area as we only had limited time there, and Zurich/Horgan were the areas we really wanted to see; but we were only getting 3 hrs of sleep a night and we were TIRED. We were deabting going straight to bed or trying to force ourselves to explore and have some fun. Then, when we came back after parking the car, she had the MOST DELICIOUS brownie/fudge bars (I still dont know what it was, but it was remarkably good) ready for us as a free treat and offered for us to take a rest and enjoy with a coffee. Girls know when other girls need chocolate! That small gesture of kindness, and the magic in those brownies, completely rerjuvinated our spirits and gave us the energy and joy we needed to make the most of our limited time in the beautiful region or Horgan. We had not always been greeted the best, especially since we did not always know the local language. So the extra kindness we received from her was more than just "appreciated". The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The decor was the perfect balance of warm and cool calm tones, ecclectic and fun but modern as well, somewhat beachy vibe but without feeling too beachy at all. I dont know who designed the hotel, but hats off to them for accomplishing a pretty difficult task. The showers were the best we had experienced in our whole trip! The bartenders/staff were vibrant and kind, and every interaction with them left us feeling like family rather than guests. I could blab on and on about The Yarn, but you have to justy experience it for yourself. Look no further, book it!

The rooms did not have a mini fridge, but we kept things cool true European style - on the ledge out of the window. Embrace the culture <3 :)

Really close to the lake, completely new (visited July 2024). High end finishing, very stylish. Good quality breakfast.

The online check-in process has flaws. If you stay one night and want to pay for parking, it automatically proposes the tariff for two full days (which is not necessary). Also we booked two separate rooms and for some reason had to pay tourist tax for three rooms, to be able to unlock our digital key. We were under the impression that it was a full self-service check-in hotel. It is not. There is a reception with a staff, they have regular keys. My advice: skip the whole selfservice check-in process and just do a regular check-in with the (friendly!) staff on location.

Great spacious room, very close to a beautiful lake. A few decent size shops steps away which is very convenient. Train station just on the opposite side of the road, so you can easily get to city centre if you don't drive.

Issues with parking. When we arrived there was no proper space to park the car, we were initially told it was OK for us to park in a specific spot, but we were then blocked by another car and had to use expensive taxi to get to the town centre. Hotel's staff was very helpful and promised to refund the cost of the taxi, but we never heard from them again.
