Absolutely amazing! I swear Izumi-san has to be one of the nicest people on the planet. He offered to drive us to and from town and is on hand if you need a lift back to the B and B! The breakfast (both Japanese and Western-style) was unbelievable, I am vegetarian and Izumi-san was able to accommodate it very well. うまい! The room is out of this world, with so many small details that make the stay unforgettable. For example, the deepest bathtub I have seen IN MY LIFE (with hot spring salts), thicker-than-normal mattresses on the futon which makes them more comfortable, and a balcony with a small table and chairs. The room is extremely clean and perfectly minimalist. The location is STUNNING. The balcony looks out into the forest with a small stream/waterfall (you can hear the rushing water). We went in summer (the cicadas were deafening, but now I miss them) and we saw a mother and baby wild deer outside from the balcony! They were really close, and it was such a magical experience. The little lodge and location are exemplary of a place three times the price. Stay here. You won't regret it :) Our stay was phenomenal. Thank you so much, Izumi-san
What an evil question, suggesting that there is something not to like about this place.

B&B Izumi Nikko was truly one of the highlights of our first trip to Japan. My boyfriend and I spent three nights here, choosing Nikko as our first destination to escape into nature and history before diving into the busy life of Tokyo — and we couldn't have made a better choice. The stay exceeded all our expectations. Izumi-san, the owner, was incredibly warm and welcoming. He kindly offered to pick us up and drop us off at Tobu-Nikko Station, adjusting to our schedule without hesitation. He was always available to help us, especially when we had doubts about the local buses, which can be tricky to figure out in the evenings if you're headed somewhere farther from the center. Every morning, he prepared a delicious breakfast, thoughtfully cooked and carefully explained — you could really feel the attention and love he puts into every detail. Our room was spotless, the tatami mats were surprisingly comfortable, and the view of the nearby river was simply beautiful. Sleeping for three nights in the peaceful silence of the forest, with only the sound of flowing water, was one of the most relaxing experiences we've ever had. We will definitely return to Nikko — and we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else but at Izumi-san’s B&B.

Izumi's place has the feeling of an intimate mountain retreat. Facilities are immaculate and include tea/coffee, a large bath for soaking, and a very comfortable bed. All are refreshed each day. Breakfast is superb and was a highlight of my entire trip - I had the japanese style, with a different menu each morning. Sitting on the private balcony after hiking all day with only the sound of the river and a cold beer is an experience I will never forget. If you are looking to stay somewhere peaceful with a lot of personality, I highly recommend Izumi's BNB. One note: town is rather far but rides to and from the train stations are graciously offered.

Izumi-san was an excellent host, and the B&B was peaceful and luxurious! You can listen to the stream next door to your room as it passes by, and there is a chance to see wild deer and martens from the view of the deck. Izumi-san also gave us a choice of Japanese and western style breakfasts, which were both very delicious. I wish I could spend more time there. There is also parking available if coming by car from Nikko or elsewhere.
The two guest rooms are adjacent, so it is possible you can hear your neighbors outside if they are on the deck at the same time as you. Other than that, everything was perfect.

We loved our stay at Izumi Nikko. It was the nicest accommodation in Japan in our 3 weeks of travel. Very modern , spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated with beautiful furnishings . Beautiful kimonos for guests. The view of the creek and surrounding forest was just stunning. The owner helped us to organise activities to make sure that we got the most of our 2 days stay. Japanese breakfast , freshly prepared was just delicious. We got picked up and dropped off at the train station . He even wrote trains timetable for our departure back to Tokyo. Wish we stayed longer .

Mr. Izumi was a very hospitable and kind host. You can really by all the attention, care and detail he put into to ensuring the guest rooms are comfortable, impeccably clean and well stocked with amenities for a relaxing stay. As well, the view from the guest room balcony was beautiful even in winter. His Japanese breakfasts were delicious and filling. We really appreciated him picking us from the train station when we arrived and drove us to and picked us from the sights and the centre of town since his B & B was bit further away from the main strip in Nikko. He really ensured the stay was enjoyable and relaxing with his hospitality. It was the perfect stay for everyone in our family to relax including my 8 year old son and husband who just completed the Tokyo marathon.

Izumi-san is an excellent host. He was super nice and attentive. There are even bath salt provided. He provided us with extra towels when we wanted to visit onsen outside. The breakfast provided were superb. We love it. The room is very cosy in a japanese traditional style. It is very clean and tidy. Futon bed is super comfortable and we slept like a baby. We were able to see deer on our last day!! We were able to see a stream just at our balcony. The sound of the stream is very zen. We drove there and there are parking lot for us.

Izumi is an exceptional host who made our stay in Nikko very pleasant and comfortable. He is professional, kind, and resourceful. Izumi provided us with maps and tips on best scenic spots in Nikko. He picked us up from the Nikko Tobu Station upon arrival. He went above and beyond to make reservations for us and pick us up from restaurants after dinner. The B&B is meticulously designed to provide guests with maximum comfort. It is such a treat to sit in the balcony with a running stream and trees around. The walk from Izumi’s B&B to the main road is very scenic with fall colors everywhere. Izumi is quite a chef. We devoured his homemade Japanese breakfast every morning. We enjoyed Izumi’s hospitality immensely and will definitely return in the future!

We absolutely loved our stay at B&B Izumi Nikko, and Izumi-san was an exceptional host. He answered all of my questions promptly before the trip and kindly gave us rides to and from the train station, as well as to dinner. The Japanese breakfast he prepared was delicious and filling with the freshest ingredients. The traditional room was perfect, offering a serene escape. It includes a lovely bath and large room to unwind after a busy day of hiking. We enjoyed our coffee in the morning on the private balcony sitting out by the beautiful creek and we even saw some wild deer. The location is also a quick walk to a bus stop that we took up to Lake Chuzenji so it was very convenient. Our stay was definitely a highlight of our 3-weeks in Japan. Thank you Izumi-san for such a wonderful stay!

Izumi was a fantastic host . He me us at the station on arrival and took us to our lovely accommodation attached to his house and overlooking a stream . His breakfast was exceptional and he gave us perfect advice re where to eat , when to go to the temples and see the autumn foliage and ferries us to our restaurants and Onsen . He even tracked down for us a rucksack that had been left in a cafe and contacted the owners to say we were coming back for it . He was the perfect host and the accommodation was spacious and spotless and away from the noise and traffic of Nikko central . A perfect antidote to the bustle of Tokyo
