Just opened, this hotel is a unique pearl in the area! Really wanted to keep it as secret retreat for ourselves, but the amazing staff deserves public kudos.

Couldn’t stay longer

We were on a road trip from Madrid heading towards the coast. So I booked this hotel as a stop off so I could rest as the only driver. We were very impressed by the comfort of the hotel. Lovely staff, very impressive superior double with sofa bed. Turned out the sofa bed was a little nook in a loft space! My son loved this! We didn’t use the spa area as it was quite busy with Valentine’s couples and I think we had the dream of having the pool to ourselves. But , the pool area looked great. Swimming caps are needed ( €5 per person) but as we didn’t use ours, we have a nice little souvenir from this Swiss style meets modern hotel in the mountains. Nice warm fire was lit in the lounge area , and a great place to play cards as a family.

The village where the hotel was situated was a bit industrial , but as I mentioned, we booked this place as a stop over to relax and have a good nights sleep before continuing our road trip through Portugal. Not many restaurants near the hotel, so food options limited unless you feel the need to try and find the restaurants in the area/ village. We couldn’t. The hotel restaurant is closed on Mondays ( when we arrived) so the only option to eat in the hotel was in the bistro. Quite limited food options but ok. Not excellent but fills your tummy.

Gorgeous spa hotel in the Dao wine region. Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms with a natural, Zen-like decor and ambiance. Spa facilities are very nice and welcoming there are many services offered. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant both nights. Elevated Portuguese cuisine well prepared and served. Excellent wine list and the servers are able to suggest the perfect pairing for your meal. Nelas is a small quiet town about an hour’s drive to the Serra da Estrela. Perfect place to stay to relax and enjoy nature. Lovely staff.

Nothing- we didn’t want to leave

We had one of the nicest hotel experiences for years. The most amazing part is the team at Puro Dão Hotel & Spa. They are making your stay a wonderful experience and you cannot wait to book your next trip and bring your family along! Thanks for everything, from check-in by Wilson, the well prepared, comfortable and spacious rooms, a wonderful breakfast and the very attentive staff!

Nothing.

The room was very big, with a big balcony overlooking the mountains. The staff was super friendly and we were lucky with the entertainment that night. We had a lot of fun! We enjoyed the SPA in the afternoon, dinner at Tertulia and the evening at the Bistro Bar. All amazing! I was staying with some friends at the bar and a group of men approached us and they were a bit drunk and made us uncomfortable. The bartender intervened and made sure we were ok. We really appreciated this!

I think the only down side was the fact that the SPA was very overcrowded and the temperature of the water wasn't great. The connection between the indoor and outdoor swimming pool is a great idea, but the temperature of the water didn't really allow for a nice "spa" experience. Also, I think the room is missing some small details, like more hangers for the towels and a bin near the sink. But again, these are more suggestions as the hotel is already pretty amazing! :)

Everything was lovely. The room design was great and different, the indoor pool is fantastic. Breakfast was fine with a lot of options. Great if you have an electric/plug-in car, since they offer free charging.

Noticed some hard water spots in the pool area, but nothing outstanding. Although interesting design, it wasn't super practical to have the sink outside the WC room. Stairs inside the room might be a trip hazard for toddlers.

Great atmosphere and excelent service The hotel is very recent and it feels very confortable and cozy, we chose a larger room which was a good option to enjoy the hotel (2 adults + 4yr)

Indoor pool temperature was cold which was disappointing. Reported to be 26-29, but closer to 26 most likely. The hotel is not quite kids friendly and the spa is a showcase of it - filled with several couples quietly on their mobiles - but our child had quite some fun going from indoor to outdoor and vice-versa

Really nice hotel to relax and take some time off for yourself. Breakfast was good and complete. Staff helpful and friendly. Book the restaurant when you book the hotel, can be full as it is a must visit place in the area.

The view is nice but some houses on the side are really close. The temperature of the pool could be a bit warmer on the winter.

We found the hotel on a whim for a one night getaway and booked it only an hour and a half before arriving in the evening. The hotel was super responsive, helpful, polite and has everything you needed. The staff was fantastic, food was great, location beautiful and convenient and facilities are great. It’s an excellent price point so we’re giving it a very high rating. The restaurant is fantastic too!

Note that the walls of the room so let in a little noise from the hallls and neighboring rooms but it’s not bad. This place is well worth the stay!

Beautiful hotel, fabulous staff, really clean 👌 The restaurant food was amazing and the facilities were great. Would most definitely return.

Only criticism was the hot food at breakfast wasn't hot. Apart from that it was am amazing breakfast, beautifully lay out with lots of selections.
