We only had one night stay, but were instantly welcomed by helpful staff who helped arrange a same day tour of the cloud forest, as well as transportation to Manuel Antonio the next day. The location was more removed from town, but it was beautiful and had a rustic mountain feel to it where you could listen to the peaceful sounds of the wind in the treetops as well as birds singing. The breakfast the next day was delicious with beautiful views. Overall it was a wonderful quick stay with delicious food, fun 2 for 1 happy hour, beautiful views and a truly helpful staff!

I thought we would be able to walk to the cloud forest, but instead we had to walk down to get the tickets BUT there was a shuttle that took us directly there and even dropped us off at the hotel after.

Close to the cloud forest. Beautiful property and gracious hosts! Breakfast very good and dinner even better. Great selection of homemade soups and light fares along with delicious traditional and non tradition foods. Very yummy. Nice happy hour as well! Hotel Trapp made all our trip excursions for us which is very nice!! Private guide for the cloud first is a must!! Sergio was absolutely amazing !!❤️

I would like coffee throughout the day to warm me up. Also be aware that it is windy and chilly throughout the day.

The lodge is close to Monteverde Nature Preserve, about 1 km walk away. The free parking is very convenient and breakfast options are fairly good. While facilities are old, they are very well maintained. The room, including bathroom, was very clean. The lodge maintains a beautiful garden and our room had a good view from the separate seating room attached to the sleeping area. Our room was located at a lower level but I think you would get a much better view of garden and outdoor valley if you requested for a room at upper level.

A small closet or storage room is located inside the bathroom for hanging clothes. Otherwise there was no place to hang clothes within bedroom. The shower water pressure was very low.

The rooms were large and comfortable and we had a pretty Mountain View. You could walk to the cloud forest entrance in about 10-15 minutes. The staff was very nice and booked tours for us. The breakfast was great with fresh juice, coffee, fruits and a choice of either pancakes or eggs with rice/beans, plantains, toast etc. They had a daily happy hour from 3:30-5:30 as well and a restaurant serving lunch and dinner. When our night tour bus broke down and we arrived late, the kitchen still offered soups and sandwiches after closing which we appreciated!

The dirt road to get here is very windy and steep filled with lots of potholes as are most in remote areas. There’s not any onsite activities.

Great location! Only a 10 minute walk to Monteverde Cloud Forest. Cozy rooms with beautiful wood planking. Has an old school charm. Beds were very comfortable. Beautiful view with a little sitting area overlooking the garden and trees. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. Ate dinner at the restaurant a couple of nights and both times it was delicious! And sit down breakfast was delicious as well! Grounds were beautiful with lovely gardens. Could see monkeys in the trees outside our window! Our family enjoyed our stay and we would definitely stay again!

It was very windy at times, which is often the case when so close to the cloud forest. Though it made for an exciting stay, it could keep people awake at night. Best to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. 😉 We did fine though. Lighting in the room could be better. Although cozy, it was a bit dim with the dark wood. Also, it would be nice to have a small microwave in the room. 😉

Our group of seven had an excellent stay at this lodge. Our rooms were large with beautiful views, the included breakfast was plentiful and very good. We also enjoyed dinner there. I can’t say enough good things about the staff as they helped us thru resolving the issue of a flat tire on our rental. The location is somewhat remote and some roads are not paved. We would not hesitate to go back.

We upgraded our room for $50 for 3 nights to have a better view, it was worth every penny. We ended up with a super king size bed with 2 duvets as it is pretty chilly up there. The staff was helpful, the room was clean. Breakfast was not the best we had and the breakfast room is strangely bland but we didn't spend much time there. The staff booked a night tour for us which I would definitely recommend. We walked up to the Monteverde reserve and booed a tour. Make sure you go to the Colibri cafe to witness to most amazing numbers of hummingbirds flying around the feeders.

The Trapp Family Lodge was located very close to the Monteverde Cloud Forest. We had an early morning bird tour there so being close was an extra bonus. They helped us book many other day tours which were all excellent. The food was great and it was peaceful and quiet. Rooms were very spacious. A great stay with family.

you do need a car. It is difficult walking into town and the bus or shuttle doesn't go that often.

Friendly, helpful staff. Walking distance to Monteverde Cloud Forest Nat. Park. Wonderful breakfasts included to start the day. Nice restaurant with happy hour, 4-6.

No coffee pot, microwave or small refrigerator in room. Had to throw away leftovers.

Basic breakfast. Only 3 options which were adequate. Only serve white bread and no breakfast meat choices. Coffee was not hot . I would have liked cereal & yogurt options added to menu.

The lighting in the room was a bit dim. And we had to request a heater as the room was chilly. There was no thermostats to adjust to your desired temperature. The towels & bath mat seemed old and worn thin and we had no hand towels. Kleenex too would have been appreciated.
