I could not recommend Outbox Inn any higher! It is an excellent place to stay and has been a highlight in my three month trip through Costa Rica. The receptionists are incredibly kind and went above and beyond to help me out with a range of things, even figuring out how to install a Costa Rican sim card on my phone and offering solutions when my transport to a next city fell through! The hostel's vibe is cosy and safe, and had the most affordable price for a single room that I have come across during my travels. A traveller would be hard-pressed to find higher quality accomodation.

Awesome, I was afraid at the time of booking but when I reached the place and settled down in my room, I felt comfortable. The host (I saw 3 different hosts) was very nice and helped answer all my questions patiently. Excellent location. The Open Kitchen that is run by the same owner (I think) was delicious. They made a cocktail for me that was not in the menu and I loved it. They were able to accommodate my dinner request quickly as I had an upcoming night tour in 20 minutes. Definitely recommend for solo/group of friends. This place checked all my boxes. Glad I chose it. Thanks to Booking.com for recommending this place during my selection process.

Wifi signal was weak in my room. Parking is available for only 5 cars.

The bed was insanely comfortable, I haven't slept that well in ages! There's a lot of space to keep your stuff beside the bed, a dimmable reading light (how amazing is that?!) and very nice curtains. A hostel bed honestly couldn't be better, it was a dream come true. The 4-bed dorm also felt really cozy and you could even separate the two bunk beds from each other with curtains. There were two windows in the room with mosquito nets, so you could sleep with the windows open. The common area is beautiful, having breakfast on the terrace outside is a dream and the whole space feels very open and cozy at the same time. Also, the showers are amazing! Hot water and perfect pressure, which is not easy to find in Central America.

The wifi reception in the dorm was pretty much non-existent, which wasn't a deal breaker for me. It also wasn't that social when I stayed there, but I guess that also depends on the guests and I still managed to find some friends.

Great outdoor kitchen with plenty of cookware items. Social area was spacious and bright. Bunks were spacious and had curtains for privacy, which really made a difference to my comfort. The staff were helpful and kind. The location is fantastic, with all the local amenities nearby and a bus to Monteverde Cloud Forest round the corner. Bakeries, supermarkets, ATM, tourist info, taxi rank, gift shops... this was a great location.

I really enjoyed my stay here! The social area was a great place to relax and meet people. My bed in the dorm was very spacious and comfortable, with two pillows and a blanket. The hostel has a really nice vibe overall, and I appreciated how clean the kitchen was. The location is also very central, making it easy to explore the area. Would definitely stay again!

The only downside wasn’t the hostel’s fault - during my three-night stay, there were loud parties in the neighborhood every night until around 2 AM. Even with earplugs, it was hard to sleep. So if you’re sensitive to noise, this might be something to consider. There could also be more hanging for wet clothes and towels

We stayed in Room 5, which was a spacious and private option perfect for a couple. The location of the hostel is ideal, with all tours picking up right from the driveway. The staff were incredibly helpful in organizing tours and transportation to each activity, and the prices were the same as booking independently. The free Friday yoga session hosted by the hostel is a fantastic way to unwind in the afternoon. The chill-out area is also very comfortable, providing a great spot for reading and planning your next adventure. Complimentary coffee was also great!

A guest left the door unlocked and animals got in and ate our food.

The host was impeccable. I was surprised she knew my name the day after check-in. We did not interact in between and this made me feel really welcome. She even helped us out when our shuttle was cancelled last minute by calling several companies. The provided coffee was lovely and the friday yoga looked good. The communal area felt like a beach house and the slight breeze just made it even better. There was plenty of space in the dorm and next to your bed to keep your things. Beds were comfortable. Lockers were provided (bring your lock) and could easily store a backpack you bring on the plane. If you get cold during the night be sure to grab an extra blanket. It can get cold in Monteverde during the night.

The ladder of the dorm beds could be better. The only thing that was sturdy enough was the pole in front of you but this was not clear to everyone. I too fell down after grabbing a curtain rail by accident.

This place had a really nice vibe. I particularly liked the covered outdoor seating area, which was great as it was a bit rainy (but still warm) when I was there. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff are incredibly helpful and kind, booking me on trips and a shuttle to my next destination. I had a private room and bathroom which were fine - a little dated and dimly lit but very good value. I'd definitely recommend staying here! And would also recommend the Cataratas el Tigre hike organised through the reception - highlight of my trip so far!

Really nice hostel in the middle of town. Great location, really clean. Dorms are nice with huge space around the beds for belongings as well as lockers for valuables. Nice chill-out areas and kitchen for guests to use. There's a cafe next door guests can get % off at. The staff were really helpful with us shipping our drone there from El Salvador as we were travelling through Nicaragua before getting to Costa Rica. The staff contacted us to let us know it arrived and kept it safe until our arrival. Would definitely recommend!

The staff - Johann really made a great impression during my stay. He is quick, kind and resourceful. He truly enjoys his work, and it really shows with the interaction he made with his guests. Another lady staff i observed was not as eager to help, she'll assist but will not do more unless prompted. The affiliated restaurants of this place are a must try. Although the room is quite small but functional and the shared space has a great ambiance. Highly recommended solely based on Johann, the shared space and the restaurants.
