The Stroud hotel is lovely on all aspects. It’s cozy, comfortable, beautifully decorated, and in the perfect location next to the train station. The best part are the staff, though. Cheers to the management for running such a great crew! They are so welcoming and fun to talk with, helpful, and eager to please. They really do go out of their way to make sure you’ve got everything you need and you’re always greeted with a smile. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Stroud, we have stayed several times and will always chose this hotel.

Nothing.

I booked for my birthday as we were having a party close by. We were welcomed and offered complimentary drinks at the bar which was a lovely surprise. We ordered some hot bar snacks which were delicious. Khrystina was very lovely as were all of the team. Thank you. Location and rooms were great for us.

The only thing I would mention is that the bar service was slow particularly at breakfast which took 35mins which was a surprise as we ate later so the bar/breakfast area wasn't busy. The buffet was also not refreshed and would say the quality was disappointing compared to the delicious food we had the day before.

A fantastic boutique hotel in the heart of Stroud. The type of place that remembers your name the next time you stay, & whilst a little quirky, it's charms will win you over. There will be no awards for the views (unless trains are your thing, perhaps) but the location means the whole of Stroud centre is within walking distance & the rooms are very comfortable with fantastic en suite facilities (the rain forest shower is just the tonic to wake you up) but the TV may prove a slight challenge as it's all streamed & not a traditional service. The food is terrific & freshly cooked (allow some time for a full English breakfast - it's cooked to order which isn't particularly quick but is done to perfection) & very, very tasty. The bar is stocked with both mainstream & local/lesser known ales, lagers & ciders & is a really friendly space conducive to laughter, or with various nooks for serious conversations. Will definitely stay here again when on business in the area, but would also stay if on holiday.

The only downside (& there's nothing they can do about it) is that there's very little free parking. The station car park is the most likely place for an overnight vehicle stop which isn't too bad at £7.50 (price from 3 weeks ago) but can mount up over a week or two.

I paid for the continental breakfast and it was really good. The hotel provided big mugs and the coffee was excellent. There was also thick bread for toasting with a good selection of jams. The hotel also provided different cereals, fruit and buns. The location can't be beat, especially if you're arriving by train as it is right next to the train station. The room was spacious and reflected the feel of the town of Stroud. The bathroom was large, with a big bathtub and lots of light. I was able to open the window in my room too, which allowed for lots of fresh air into the room.

can't think of anything

Our stay in Stroud was great. The location was superb since the hotel was directly at the train station and very close to the town centre. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful at all times. Our room was huge, bright and spacious. It was equipped with all necessary amenities. The rooms were directly above the outside seating of the bar but it was okay for us. The guests were not too noisy. The food in the hotel was a highlight. Both, breakfast and dinner were great!

The only critique is the missing fridge. That would definitely have helped.

Everything was delightful. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The bedroom was amazing - bigger than expected and a lovely bathroom. The bed was comfortable and there was a bath and over-bath shower. It's located just next to the station which was excellent for us as we were travelling for work and needed somewhere as a base. We had dinner and breakfast there and both were delicious. A good range of vegetarian and vegan options and easily able to deal with a soya allergy.

More of a warning - it was a bit loud in the room (1st floor) when the bar was open. We stayed during the week and all was quiet by 10pm but I imagine at the weekend (and during the warming weather when people are sitting in the beer garden at the front) it could stay noisy a bit later. There's no lift so not good for anyone with serious mobility issues. There was a very helpful young man to carry a case upstairs for the slightly less able person in our group so that was fine for us. Also, would be good to have a dairy free spread for toast in the morning - just Flora would be fine. A small let down when the rest of the vegan options were lovely.

Location is great, close to center, just across the train station. Crew is kind and helpful. Hotel bar and restaurant is pleasant with a nice garden. Mattress is so comfortable. Rooms are spacious enough.

There is no fridge in the room. We asked for milk for our coffee/ tea, and ended up having a clumped milk. For 180 GBP, we expected to have better facilities. Pillows were uncomfortable. We had to fight throughout the night to keep them under our head. All in all, for the price we paid for a weekend, it was a bit under our expectations with the facilities provided.

Good food, wine and cocktails in the hotel restaurant. Proximity to the train station and easy to park in the station car park

We were allocated room 23 on arrival and we asked to switch rooms as there was a constant noise vibrating from a generator on an adjacent building. We were moved to room 8 but it was directly underneath room 23 so we were kept awake all night by the annoying noise. We were unable to operate the Smart TV in the room as it would not connect to the Hotel WiFi. The bin in the room was full of rubbish from the previous guests.

Location for a family visit in Stroud. Clearly a lot of investment gone into renovating the building, even if much has ignored heritage and gone full tilt at contemporary, a LOT of scaffolding boards which I guess ticks sustainable box. Great breakfast, make up your own eggs benedict? Lovely.

UPDATED- Just seen other reviews making same suggestions going back months... worrying not addressed! More coffee in room. 2 pods for 2 people overnight? Bit mean. Maybe add coffee bags if not pods. No milk! Not even UHT. Pain to have to ask reception or bar for fresh... so no cup of tea first thing. No pillow cases on spare pillows in wardrobe, only two on bed. No iron in room, again having to ask reception? Smart TV... nothing worked or rather connect, couldn't even stream to it, just a shame as last thing at night would have been good to stick a movie on and wouldn't have wasted time trying to get it working! If aim is 'boutique hotel' then its the details and extras that really count. Front rooms overlooking station, woken around 5-6am by rubbish collection...

This was the 5th one night stay in a hotel on my current trip. Three of them have been great and two were pretty awful. The Stroud is certainly up there with the good ones. If I understand well from my friends in Stroud, it has recently been refurbished and that has been done with taste. I loved the bedroom and the bathroom (see photos) and both had some very nice touches. I especially liked the pale green night lights, the lighting behind the headboard of the very comfortable bed and the lovely mirror and clothes rack in the bedroom. Normally I prefer a closed clothes cupboard to an open rack but the one here, in wood, was a work of art. I also loved the minimalistic sign about towel changes (see photo) which effectively achieves its purpose without trying to make you feel guilty about environmental impacts. That's all not to say that a few improvements could be made, especially in the bathroom. For older people like myself, this would benefit from having hand grips whilst standing in the shower and for getting out of the bath. The bathroom mirror could be replaced by fitting a mirror in three parts with hinged wings to allow a view of the back of the head and, though the hand gel is of good quality I personally prefer a small tablet of soap for shaving purposes. Also the little hallway leading to rooms 15 (my room) and 16 could benefit from having automated lighting. The hotel bedrooms are on the first and second floor and there is no lift, so the hotel is not really suitable for persons of reduced mobility. I think though, that the stairway to the first floor would be wide enough to allow the installation of a stair lift. The staff are extremely welcoming and very helpful. Add the free parking area - though this has limited space allocated on a first come basis - and the proximity to the station and you have all the ingredients for an almost perfect stay in what is a charming town set in beautiful countryside.
