Picture postcard hotel in beautiful surroundings. Spacious room tastefully decorated with lovely view. Best shower EVER! Plenty of free parking. Knowledgeable and friendly gentleman working there told us all about the history of the building and the wildlife in it's grounds. It was very interesting and could be incorporated into a leaflet in the rooms. Warmly greeted by very nice young lady at reception. Tasty fresh cookies in our room.

Breakfast was cooked to order. Husbands bacon was cooked to a crisp. I had poached eggs, toast, mushroom...but they forgot the poached eggs! By the time they cooked them my husband had almost finished his breakfast. Service wasn't particularly attentive considering there were so few people there and several staff members. Breakfast buffet was very limited. With this in mind we didn't feel confident enough to risk dinner there. The grounds were gorgeous but there were cans and bottles in the pond. We asked but there were no "no smoking" areas outside where we could relax. Lots of plastic plants in plastic pots, not environmentally friendly or attractive.

Asked about the residents bar for when we return after a party. No the bar closes 11pm…. What??? Huge hotel and no night bar??? Spoke to a manager again on leaving- really didn’t seem the slightest bit interested but said”I’ll refund half”- fine But it’s was rubbish

Excellent evening meal - very good children's menu - they both loved the hummus and veg. The waitress was very helpful. All four adults chose different things and enjoyed their meals. Atmosphere nice and warm but quiet enough we could talk easily. Our room was very comfortable - exceptionally comfortable bed. Room quiet and not too hot. Nice to have real coffee and some homemade biscuits.

On reflection I should have asked for the mushroom and chestnut pie without the vegan gravy - it was rather glutinous and the flavour killed the pie flavour and made it a bit mushy! But that's maybe personal preference. Why all the cushions with the bed? The room wasn't huge and it was quite a challenge to find somewhere to put them!

All staff members are really helpful and friendly. Hotel has nice grounds, with plenty of outside seating areas and a refurbished restaurant. The breakfast and evening food is of a good standard. We booked a standard room which was nice with wooden beams. However........

The standard rooms in the main building haven't yet been refurbished and are a bit tired with coffee stains on wall near bin which are embedded into the plasterwork and the shower cubicle doors had black mould in the corners. If you're a light sleeper you may have problems with the road noise given its proximity. Rooms in the Mill building may be preferable.

Very nice staff all throughout the hotel spacious rooms coffee nespresso machine nice touch really comfy bed good with quality bedding decent shower bath in the bedroom seemed a bit strange ! good quality smart TV food both evening and for breakfast very good contributing to a most enjoyable break for all my friends and myself would be very pleased to return sometime soon

would be unfair to nit pick as the building has been sympathetically modernized and as a result retains its aged charm in a good way so no nothing really negative to report and i am sure the hotel would be even more fun in the warm weather rather than a damp cold December!

Lovely building, well maintained with great outdoor areas for summer drinks. Comfortable room and bed.

No response from hotel when I requested twice for a fan and extra bed sheet via the booking.com message service, due to extreme high temperatures on the weekend we stayed. On arrival, I asked at the bar/ reception area and although the lady was polite, it wasn’t exactly helpful to be told if there’s one in your room then you’re lucky as not enough for all the rooms. Expected better service for the price..

The guy we met at check in was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The property is gorgeous with beautiful features like the wooden glass doors as you enter the bar-restaurant area. The rooms were stunning and the bathrooms were very tastefully decorated.

Two small things. The bedroom we stayed in, room 6, had a floor that was quite uneven. It's understandable as it's a converted property and has a lot of the rustic charm that comes with it. I think it could be slightly evened out by adding some layer under the carpet on the entrance side maybe?. It felt like my side of the bed near the door tilted down slightly. Other tiny thing was I didn't realise we didn't have breakfast included and so was confused and embarrassed myself at breakfast time (thinking the continental breakfast had all finished). We ended up ordering hot food.

The building itself was amazing! And so nice to walk around. Listening to the sound of the river outside while sleeping was incredible and so relaxing. The food was delicious and comfortably priced. The room was fantastic with a massive bed and old wooden beams while also being very modern. We got speaking with one of the waiters who recommended an National Trust walk which we did today and it was really enjoyable. I would 100% stay here again and recommend.

Loved it all, if I had to say something was that my girlfriend ordered the fry up for breakfast because for some reason she had a craving for the breakfast potatos! Which when came was not on the plate so when asked we was told that they'd ran out and forgot to mention it. That's me literally grasping at straws as we all forget things sometimes so we wasn't to bothered.

Never been to such a lovely hotel that was properly dog friendly. My Labrador was greeted by every staff member, the chef brought her a breakfast sausage, she was offered water and snacks, she was allowed in the bar so I could eat without rushing. The room was perfect - super clean, spacious, exceptionally comfortable bed. The local area was beautiful including the hotel’s own grounds with its own waterfall. I wish we’d had longer to explore. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful room with bags of character & an incredibly comfortable bed. It had amazing old beams. Loved the big tea cups and coffee machine in my room! A great renovation of Mill into Hotel. Beautiful sitting area by the pond out at the back. Plenty of parking space just over the little bridge, so very convenient.

Food was good but could have been better. Bathroom a little dated but very clean & adequate. More history provided about the Mill would be good.
