Tugu Hotel is very amazing. Everything was so perfect. When you stay at this hotel, you will feel like you are staying in the museum. The hotel has so much antique stuff to discover, every corner is waiting to be discovered. The room we stayed in was very huge, very comfortable, and very clean. The breakfast buffet was so delicious. The a la carte breakfast also had a very big portion and many options to choose from. They also provided afternoon tea every day with very delicious traditional snacks. The staff all were very friendly as well. We felt that we were at home. The Melati restaurant where we had dinner has very delicious meals and it open 24 hours. We feel that We just do not want to leave the Tugu hotel.

There are very few times I say, "this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at," but this is certainly one of those occasions. The extremely high level of customer service and satisfaction means I could easily stay here for another two weeks and still be completely happy. In summary, everything is incredible, from the thoughtful extras like ironing our clothes and polishing our shoes for free! The only surprise, and an area that needs improvement, is the underwhelming gym. Honestly, I wouldn’t even call it a gym. A purpose-built gym is needed to complete the experience. That being said, I will ALWAYS be staying at TUGU Hotels from now on.

Where to begin! Everything about it was fantastic. The staff are absolutely brilliant, all such lovely amazing people. It was so nice to meet them all. The breakfast was delicious, so many options and courses and all of them absolutely fantastic. There is also a buffet so you can try traditional foods, and the staff took time especially to explain everything to us. The food at dinner was equally as superb, we ate at both restaurants and enjoyed every meal. There were so many different choices, and good options for vegetarians. The hotel itself is like an amazing museum; if you appreciate art and history this is the place for you. There’s so much to see and enjoy, every room is full of treasures. You could spend an afternoon exploring the hotel itself. The bathroom is amazing, and we had a little garden outside our room which we loved! The beds were luxurious and the air conditioning was great. The staff helped us organise trips, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. We went to Bromo, and explored waterfalls. They even offered to drive us to the train station when we were leaving, and help us buy the tickets. The complimentary 10 minute massage was brilliant. The masseuse was very talented. My daughter enjoyed a flower bath, and found it beautiful and very soothing. The complimentary afternoon tea with such a great range of traditional cakes was an added bonus, we really enjoyed it, especially after long day trips. We couldn’t believe the attention to detail, any small comment made the staff picked up on. They are so thoughtful. Honestly everything was perfect, I cannot compliment it enough.

It’s a stunning hotel, so different to anything else! It’s like stepping back in time in the best way possible with lots of beautiful artwork and antiques dotted around. The hotel is in the middle of the city, yet it’s so large with so much greenery around, it feels like you’re in a secluded location somewhere instead. The rooms are beautiful and the bed comfy too! The food is delicious as well, we would recommend both restaurants as we had the opportunity to dine at both and can hand on heart say it was some of the best food we had in Indonesia. The complementary Javanese afternoon tea with biscuits was a nice touch too, and the teas were delicious! Also the staff were lovely and so attentive, even dropping us off at the train station on the last day as we were rushing to get to the train and they noticed we were struggling with our luggage.

A slight niggle, but it would be nice to have a buffet breakfast option every day. On one of the days, we were informed it was a la carte only, which was delicious but we had a tour that we needed to be ready for at a certain time so we had to rush eating our breakfast and couldn’t finish all of it as it’s freshly cooked to order and takes significantly longer than a buffet. That’s our only slight niggle with the hotel though!

This hotel is extraordinary! The staff is heartwarming friendly and also speaks very good english. The Hotel is kind of an oasis right in the middle if the city, where you feel at home and can relax after a city Tour or Bromo sightseeing. The Pool area is really nice, the hotel is huge and there is much to discover - its a little bit like living in a museum :) Everyday you get free afternoon tea with delicious pastries from the own bakery. In the eveving you habe the choice of two Restaurants (indonesian/Western and vietnamese). The menu of the indonesian Restaurant is huge, but all dishes are very delicious and made with so much love. We would haved loved it to stay longer than two nights!

The Tugu is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed and definitely the most original, creative and romantic. In fact, it is a museum of the founder's collection of Asian art, furniture and artifacts, which is incredible. There are multiple creatively designed rooms and spaces you can wander through or sit and little fountains and fish ponds all over the place. The pool in the center is just big enough to do laps in and is sourrounded by beautiful plants. The location is perfect, the staff extremely helpful and riendly, and the restaurants are varied, great, and fairly priced. The hotel made our three-day stay in Malang - where there is not a lot to do - enjoyable. Congratulations to the owner, manager, and staff.

The curtains in our Exective Suite were almost impossible to open, making it a bit dark. The bathroom was alos a bit small.

We spent 3 nights at Tugu Malang in January 2025 and found it to be the perfect base for visiting Mt Bromo and it was within walking distance to the Chinese temple and local flower markets. They served a complimentary afternoon tea each day with various local treats and a range of herbal teas which were delicious - most of the treats came from the neighbouring bakery that is also worth a visit. We liked the furnishings in our room and the toiletries were top notch. They provided fresh fruit in our room on a daily basis and we had fresh flowers which were a lovely touch. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel contains a treasure trove of artworks and antiques and well worth an exploration. We loved our meals at the hotel restaurants, especially SaigonSan. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We had the most wonderful stay at Hotel Tugu Malang! It all starts with a very warm welcome from the staff at the reception. Especially Indri has been extremely helpful with organising our transportation from and to Surabaya airport. She also made a big effort in organising a rental scooter for us, which proved to be challenging as we were after a bigger size scooter, but she managed to find one! Also Anita and Nando were very friendly, as were the rest of their colleagues. The room was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. We really enjoyed our days there. The bed was very comfortable and the shower fantastic! The daily fresh flowers were a nice touch. The main restaurant, Melati, has probably the best food in Malang. Every dish is delicious. The staff does need some training on dietary requirements or include this in the menu. From a 5 star hotel I do expect better knowledge about their menu. The exception was Wulan! She had knowledge about our dietary requirements (gluten free) and if she was not sure, she was more than happy to check with the kitchen. We really appreciated her efforts and friendly interaction. The restaurant and bar sometimes have a strange choice of music and I would recommend having a look into this to match the beautiful ambiance and delicious food. For example, the wine bar was playing random pop music music with commercials in it one evening. The following night they were playing smooth background music, which was more appropriate. Having said this, I can not recommend Hotel Tugu Malang highly enough. You really step into a different world with all the art, antiques and artifacts around the hotel. This, combined with the modern luxuries and friendly staff makes it an unforgettable stay. We would come back.

This is my third visit to Tugu Malang, but it will be my last. On the plus side, it is a fascinating complex of buildings that exudes historical charm. The family-owned chain proudly displays the quirky collection of pan-Asian artifacts and souvenirs from their wealthy ancestor's travels and VIP connections. Staff is friendly and fun. Food is great! The hotel is much bigger than it looks, so definitely ask for a tour. (Be sure to tip the volunteer guide)

It is 2024, yet they still allow smoking where people eat! If we wish to enjoy tea on the patio, meals in the event space, or even by the pool - we are forced to breathe the toxic fumes of inconsiderate smokers. This disgusting and dangerous habit should not be tolerated where people eat or wish to enjoy fresh air. I complained about this on all 3 visits, but they have not changed the policy, so I will not be back. In addition, there is a military club nearby that inconsiderately blasts the neighborhood with EXTREMELY LOUD music that can be heard in every single room of the hotel. This lasted until midnight on one visit, and until 2am on another. It is not the hotel's fault, but it is intolerable for light sleepers.

My wife and daughter Juna stayed here for a week and it could not have been better. We had a blast. The spacious room, the wonderful location, the excellent food.. we could spend a month here. But above all, the super staff (from Auntie and Nando at the reception to the gardener and the employees at the restaurant/high tea) made our time just perfect here. We had lovely talks with them and they were so (professional and) nice to us, and our daughter. We're going to miss the hotel and the staff. See you next year hopefully. Also hi from Ibu Negara ;-)
