Very nice environment, quiet position and pleasant renovated buildings. Good breakfast, though the room is in a different building, so in case of adverse weather could be not very comfortable to exit outside before breakfast. Very kind and collaborative personnel, reception open 24/24.

The room was small and the bathroom is separated from the bed only by a curtain. Maybe the room (at the ground floor) is conceived for use with wheelchair, but the passage near the bed is probably too narrow for easy use, and the curtain could be replaceb by a sliding door. The windows are completely clear, so during the day it is not possible to stay in the room with natural light since there are only heavy curtains to stop the light (whose presence is anyway appreciated). Light curtains would be appreciated, too. It would be nice a sauna/spa.

The staff were amazing - so helpful. They went the extra mile every time they could. It's a beautiful location, very interesting buildings and history. The hotel stay gave you free access to the garden 'Havlyst', which is a wonderful place. You can walk down to the villa on the fjord where Munch lived and painted for a number of years. A little further is the pretty village of Hvitsten. It's a very peaceful place. (Breakfasts are delicious of course).

I was sad that the gallery wasn't open. I'll have to come back for that. It is hard to get to without a car. Be aware that although travel information may say that the 531 bus will take you within walking distance of the hotel, at the time of writing (June 2024), it doesn't run at weekends and, at least for some days, has to be booked before 5pm the day before! It is quieter and has fewer facilities than one might expect in England, which is both a pro and a con. The village of Hvitsten and the Munch villa have no refreshment facilities.

However, one thing I didn’t enjoy: we got back to the hotel around 2:30 AM after attending a wedding in Drøbak, and we weren’t informed that the hotel area would be locked at night. We were met by a high gate, tried using our room number to open it, but no luck. We ended up climbing over… not exactly our finest moment!

Wonderful and quiet place to enjoy the Norwegian nature. Beautiful rooms. Lovely garden around the hotel, would definitely want to visit it in the summer time.

Felt though that the staff was not really happy to see us, and I was given the wrong room (cheaper then I ordred) so I had to go and change it, and they were definitely annoyed by my ask. Too expensive for that location, service and room size.

I loved the location. The location is exceptionally fantastic.

The chairs in the restaurant are uncomfortable. There is not a good selection of choice. In fact I had to order takeaway pizzas as I was very hungry. Also in the room there was no kettle and no tea making facilities and also no bath even though I was promised one the bed mat in the middle Anybody that doesn’t understand that the bed needs to be replaced did not sleep at all very hot air-conditioning did not work overlooked a courtyard very boring will not stay there again. The hotel needs to be updated. The staff were excellent although the gardener did not appreciate me Parking my Motorcycle, outside the facility
