The main member of staff who looked after us was lovely - Angela. She was helpful and friendly.
We get that the room is in a very old building but the lighting in our bedroom was terrible, only one bedside light and that was a dull orange so we had to get out of bed to turn the main one off. There is also no-where to actually sit, the 2 square cubes were handy for our bags/suitcase but not for reading. It also only had one very small window looking out over the main road so the room was very hot and difficult to air. Saying all that, we were literally only there to sleep and eat breakfast so wasn't too much of an issue.

Diner was exceptional. Not one course disappointed. Seasoning and herbs just right. Varied and interesting menu. Staff friendly and knowledgeable about the area, the food and the Greenman. A relaxing comfortable environment to wind down. It's an old village pub with bar, dining and lounge area, outside garden. Our room had a sofa and two tv's, shower facilitates, tea/coffee, hairdryer, etc. Excellent location to drive to Hereford and other town centres, beautiful countryside, Clearly a favoured place to eat, by both locals and guests, busy in the evenings. Not noisy, no late night noise. Best if you are able to, book diner to ensure no disappointment.
When we arrived we did not see the information sheet in our room, too tired and our fault we did not see it. On it, it indicated you needed to ask for the room to be serviced and other useful information. Not a huge issue loo rolls and water were supplied very quickly upon service request.

The room was excellent, we had a great nights sleep and the bathroom was perfect. The food at dinner was excellent. The female breakfast server was delightful, charming, efficient and helpful. The whole pub is very nicely appointed and a drink in the garden before dinner was a great way to unwind.
Before we had finished eating breakfast (we weren't late btw) a male member of staff sprayed and wiped the tables immediately either side of us which was pretty obnoxious. When we checked in there was no confirmation of our booking half board and after dinner someone had to check the computer to make sure we were entitled to it! Overall it felt like there was a lack of leadership/front of house which was a shame in such an otherwise ideal setting.

This was my second stay at this hotel, and once again, it exceeded my expectations. The rooms are spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully decorated, with incredibly comfortable beds that guarantee a restful night’s sleep. The surrounding grounds are absolutely picturesque—perfect for a peaceful stroll or simply soaking in the view. One of the standout features is the breakfast, which is easily one of the best I’ve ever had at a hotel. A special mention goes to Amanda, who runs the breakfast service with warmth, humour, and genuine hospitality. She creates such a welcoming atmosphere that you instantly feel at home. As someone who works in the hotel industry myself, I know how challenging the job can be, but Amanda handles everything with effortless grace. She’s truly a credit to the team. I’m already looking forward to my third visit!

Stayed 3 nights 28/31st March. Mandy and all staff were warm and welcoming. Room comfortable with modern bathroom, but felt it could use a small drawer unit for clothing not suited to hangers (would fit inside wardrobe) well stocked hospitality tray replenished daily. Good choice of breakfast, evening meal delicious. Beautiful building, lovely areas inside and out to sit and relax. Our room overlooked the road, some traffic noise but this did not impact our sleep. Would highly recommend.

I used to live in Hereford as a child, so it was lovely to come back to a pub that my parents used to take me to. It's a proper old school 'inn' and the food was lovely. We had the Sunday roast and it was very enjoyable. TV was one that you could log into Netflix etc on, so that gave more choice of viewing. Lots of original beams and timber in the room, felt modern and old at the same time.
The road from Hereford to Fownhope was closed just before Fownhope, could have done with a message to that effect from the hotel beforehand so we could have worked out an alternative route, but reception gave us good directions when we phoned them.

Lovely village setting. Nice garden and courtyard to sit and relax with a drink. We walked along the river which was beautiful. Clean room and bathroom, comfy bed and bedding.
We loved everything about the property and Amanda welcomed us warmly, the manager and evening staff were delightful. Sadly I think the breakfast let the stay down. The waitress was stressed and snappy and the drinks and breakfast were cold. We felt too unsettled to ask her to replenish the milk and juice jug and there was no decaf coffee, which is a requirement for some. This is such a shame as the evening meal was delicious and we were served by happy staff.

We stayed here three nights and the staff were all attentive and helpful. The quiet village location was excellent for our purposes of visiting the Malvern Hills and Hereford. It has a good size car park and a lovely beer garden with good beer & wine, with walks literally from the doorstep that were delightful. We had requested a Deluxe Double room and is was superb, it was large, with a balcony, well decorated, a clean spacious bathroom with a shower that was great, and a comfortable bed. The breakfast choice was good, and both breakfasts and evening meals were a really good quality at a reasonable price. We'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting the area, overall it was excellent value and a lovely place to stay and eat.

Stunning old building. Very quaint and Christmassy. We had a leaky towel heater and the staff were amazing and changed our room straight away. Really good breakfasts, only improvement would be more pastries and more veggie/vegan options. But the full veggie breakfast was great! We've stayed before and would love to stay again.
I would always urge places to think about guests who apply makeup when thinking about their mirrors, lighting, chair options etc. And especially consider those who wear makeup and glasses who need to be close to a mirror. A moveable chair, full length mirror and good, non-harsh lighting is perfect for that. But clearly that's quite fussy, we had a great stay!

Accommodation and staff were excellent The only downside was the food on the Sunday evening . I know Sunday lunches are served most of the day but unfortunately two of our friends has lamb which was probably the end of the supply and there was not very much of it .It all felt a bit dried up . Should have complained but didn’t so I suppose it’s my fault . The Sunday menu we were given was not the Sunday menu on the website from memory so disappointing . Would I stay again , probably yes but I might look around the area to see if there are alternative places to eat on a Sunday.
