An excellent choice for our stopover in Twizel. The room was exceptionally clean and surprisingly spacious, offering all the amenities one could need. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming(though the office closes at 7pm, but you could also give a call first and the reception leaves the key for you). Its location is also a major plus – being very close to the center of Twizel made it convenient for accessing supermarkets, restaurants, and petrol stations. If you're looking for a comfortable place to rest while passing through Twizel, it’s definitely the best option.
We stayed in room 2, and it was very quiet. However, it's worth noting that if you being one of the closest rooms to the parking area, it might be susceptible to noise in the evening. Therefore, for any early sleeper, it would be wise to request a room further away from the parking area when making your reservation(like room 1 or 2).

The room was beyond what I expected from a Motel! Everything was clean and the furniture was modern and aesthetically pleasing. The room was spacious and comfortable. A full kitchenette in the room available. And a washing machine in room as well - a bonus with laundry powder provided. A lovely bathroom with a large shower. I used to work at a “5-star” hotel and honestly this place was much better, very impressed! The staff at reception were absolutely amazing! Very friendly and open for a chat and helpful too. I had the misfortune of bumping into a car in the carpark. And the staff at reception firstly reassured me that it was all gonna be okay and assisted with getting in contact with the other guests of the vehicle. Then went out of their way to message me a week later.
Nothing! The only improvement I could recommend would be for the shower - as there is no door or curtaining (at least in the room I was in) and easy for some water to spray out onto the floor past where the glass ends. Although, this could be for disability accessibility now that I think about it :)

Everything! The owners had guests in mind when they appointed each room. It was very clean and comfortable in each space. The bedding was comfortable. The space in the great room was open. The kitchen had everything we needed. We didn’t have bikes with us but there were numerous bike racks available around the property. Parking was convenient. It was my favorite place we’ve stayed during our month long New Zealand holiday.
Nothing!

Fully furnished kitchen amenities, which included pots, pans, and a variety of knifes required for food preparation. Dishwasher provided which made cooking and dining in a very pleasant experience. Big and clean living space. Newly renovated! Lovely staff who were so welcoming and gave us recommendations on what we could do around Twizel area
There's a particular odour that we noticed in the toilet. Can't quite identify what is it but quite similar to the smell of paint? Maybe it's present because the place looks newly renovated.

Extremely helpful staff, showing us where we could lock our bikes, giving us additional laundry powder for washing clothes and a drying rack on top of the dryer. Room very bright with 3 windows. Kitchen well set up up with utensils you will need for a meal. Supermarket 5 mins walk away. Very clean rooms and all built recently so everything is new and works. Very comfortable stay would recommend. We were cycling the Alps 2 Ocean trail and this is directly on the route too 😃

Beautiful comfortable, clean and new unit. Had everything I needed. Super comfortable bed and lovely bathroom with a good shower.
Almost everything was perfect. If I had to find any faults it would be that the outside light didn't seem to be able to be turned off so there was some light seeping in around the curtains at night. Also, only one plunger coffee sachet provided and no fresh milk. Maybe there would have been milk available, and more coffee if I had asked, which I did not.

Wonderfully appointed, clean, very modern - seemed new, close to a shop. I had a really lovely, comfortable stay here. Stunning drive up to Mount Cook
It was probably one of the most expensive places (cost per night) I stayed in the whole of New Zealand, barring Queenstown. Which for a small town a 45/50min drive from Mount Cook seemed a bit much (although I hear there’s a leading rowing place nearby so that might explain it). Anyway, was still cheaper than staying up at Mount Cook so…

It is very new, clean, spacious, big bathroom, and a kitchen--even with a dishwasher! I liked that they provided salt and pepper!
This whole area is officially designated a "dark sky area" but this motel (and only this place) was lit up like a Searchlight! For that reason I would not go back and I would not recommend this place. Owner’s, I encourage you to use dome lighting and sensors for the lights outside each room, instead of leaving them on all night.

The room was very clean and we really appreciated having a washer/dryer. The kitchen has all the equipment you need for a short stay - pots, pans, cutting boards, cutlery, etc. The location of the Alps Motel makes it super convenient to get to Mt. Cook National Park. In addition, the owners of the motel are extremely kind and were very helpful when we had questions or needed something. I would stay here again if I were to come back!

During our nearly two-weeks-long trip, we stayed at a different hotel almost every night and this hotel is easily our favorite stay. Not only was the room incredibly clean and modern, but it was also spacious and had a laundry machine (detergent and drying rack provided for free) as well. If we had more leeway in our traveling, we may have stayed one more night. Also, the owners were absolutely lovely people. I highly recommend this hotel!
