We stayed in a suite which was spacious and well presented. The hotel staff are excellent. The hotel is nicely decorated. The restaurant is managed separately, but is equally good. It is clearly popular with non hotel guests and was busy. Food and service were good. The hotel has parking and is well positioned with a 10 minute walk into the centre of the town where there are many restaurants and bars. We liked the town very much. It is about a 45 minute drive from Cognac, which has some lovely old buildings and streets and is also worth a visit. We would stay here again.

My only criticism is that the wooden decking outside our room and at the restaurant is in serious need of some jet washing and treatment.

The room was lovely and it was a very comfortable bed. It was a bit difficult to keep the spray from the shower from going on to the bathroom area floor. The breakfast also was really good - actually the best we'd had in France over ten days. The staff were helpful and courteous - all that could be expected and more.

As mentioned, the shower was a bit difficult to control and I ended up switching from the hand held shower to the overhead rainfall shower by mistake and got my hair soaked when it wasn't required. But otherwise, so nice to have some water in the fridge and a nice refreshment tray waiting for us.

We had a wonderful ground-floor room that opened onto the garden. It was very peaceful and being able to walk straight out to swim in the pool was outstanding. But, highlight of the stay was the evening meal which was outstanding. If you're a Wes Anderson fan, the cast of the French Despatch stayed here during filming and there is some lovely memorabilia in the bar.

The room was just beginning to look a little tired in the corners. You'd have to look though.

The hotel is beautiful inside and out! We stayed for one night to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday. He had broken his ankle so I was looking for somewhere we could just enjoy the surroundings rather than exploring. The staff went out of their way to make our stay special and were considerate of his reduced mobility. The room was very clean and comfortable, and enormous! I think it is the nicest hotel I’ve stayed in. We ate at the hotel restaurant in the evening which was exceptional. Breakfast was also great, continental with the option of boiled eggs. My only disappointment is that we had to leave! Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Friendly staff. Lovely room. Very dog friendly. Excellent on-site restaurant. Good position being a close walk to the old town and walls surrounding it. They even have a swimming pool in the grounds although when we were there, the weather wasn’t really conducive to its use.

Everything is lovely but they need to rethink their position on Electric Vehicle Charging. We came here a while back and EV charging was FOC. Now, it’s the same chargers but the hotel is charging 1.00 euro per KWh. This is little short of extortionate. The hotel would be better served to invite a Car Charging company to provide chargers with the fee paid to them. Around 40 cents per KWh is normal. Some chargers ask for 30 cents, others 50 cents. 50 cents we would pay. 1.00 euro we won’t, especially given that we still have free charging miles on our Tesla at a Tesla charger, which is close to Angouleme. This is simply a matter that needs to be addressed and in no way reflects on the Hotel, which is quite lovely.

Beautiful building in a great location. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the pool area was great - very relaxing and didn't feel like we were in the centre of town.

We didn't feel the breakfast was worth the money, and the room decor felt a little dated for the price.

The location was amazing, right at the edge of the old town but with the birds and trees it felt like the middle of the countryside. It was a five minute walk to restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is beautiful inside and out. A real find for us. We will definitely be back. The staff were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful!

Location is great, easy walk to town center. Pool was nice as well, extra points for conditioning which was very nice ( and also not common ) considering the extremely hot weather. Receptionist was very nice and patient ( I speak very little French ) and was accommodating.

Fabulous location and hotel very well presented. We had a warm welcome from Lina on reception who was very helpful, professional and charming throughout our stay. The room was specious and very comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast and the pool facility.

The hotel is beautiful and in a central location. It is a former abbey and is picturesque but a 2 minute walk into the town. The restaurant was excellent for dinner and the breakfast was also great. We loved the pool and the beautiful grounds. It was great heading into town for shopping and drinks and then returning to be this oasis
