An excellent choice of breakfast. All freshly prepared. Bread is homemade and top class ingredients used throughout. Our evening meal was also beautifully cooked. We both had a local lamb steak which was cooked to perfection with seasonal vegetables. Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream or cream to follow. Emiko our hostess was friendly and welcoming making us feel very much at home. We stayed in Ennerdale, a large double room with a good sized en-suite and sitting area. There are walks up Black Combe directly from the Wayside. The bar contains the largest collection of whiskies that we have ever seen. All in all it is an excellent b and b. We will certainly stay there again on our next visit to Cumbria.

We had a wonderful time at "The Wayside and Whiskey Barn" in Whitbeck. Our host Emiko was super efficient, professional and knowledgeable. She was so welcoming and friendly. There was also Doreen the lovely helper. We had great chats and laughs 😃 The place: Charming, so clean and impeccably maintained. I couldn't believe the attention to details such as the bedding and fluffy robes and slippers. The food. One word: delicious 😋 😜 😍 😀 Everything is sourced locally and cooked 🍳 fresh by Emiko. I can't wait to return hopefully next year. Look at the photos and honestly 😍 If you want a good time out of this world book ...If you appreciate Whiskey, well no better place to go.

Wonderful b&b. Nice property that is very well cared for. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. The room was spacious and the bathroom had a large soaker tub. The bed and bedding were comfy as well. Overall, a nice property.
There are no services nearby. Restaurant on the property was not available on the night we stayed. So we picked up food along route at Libl and ate it in our room. Worked out okay. But I probably would not have booked if I knew there was no dinner available. Also, the bed had a foot board. My husband and I are 5’8 and 5’10. We both just fit the bed. But anyone taller will have their feet against the foot board. I would definitely request a room without foot board if you are tall. There is also a small amount of road noise, if you are a light sleeper, I would request a room on the back of the property.

Fantastic hosts - offering whiskey tasting even after we arrived quite late - a wealth of knowledge about the drink - sharing knowledge about the Lake District - taking care of every little detail that makes a stay worthwhile - thanks a lot.

We arrived at the Wayside and whisky barn on our motorbike after a long ride up from Cheshire for the Dave Myers (Hairy biker) commemorative ride. We had a very lovely welcome from Emiko. Check in was very straightforward, she showed us to our lovely room, room 1. The photos did not do it justice. Emiko has very high standards but this does not make the stay uncomfortable. The accommodation was immaculate, beds so comfortable We didn’t eat dinner there so can’t comment on that. We did have breakfast which was lovely and Doreen the lady that served our breakfast couldn’t do enough for us, you can tell she enjoys meeting people and enjoys what she does. We had a couple of drinks in the bar, that is a lovely comfortable space. Dan, Emiko’s husband is also very welcoming, chatting to me and my husband for a long while (shared interest of motorbikes) Just a lovely stay, will return again for a longer stay in the future. Beautiful location too. Thank you so much.
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.

The property itself is beautiful and positioned amongst scenery that is breathtaking. My room had a free standing bath as well as a shower which was lovely, as well as a skylight that brought the outside into the room.
There are a lot of rules. You have to book in for dinner at least 5 days in advance, otherwise there may not be dinner available. That could be made clearer. Breakfast is only served between 8-930, which is neither early enough to support an early start, nor late enough to allow for a decent lie-in. And you are made to take your shoes off before going upstairs to get to your room, which felt very strange and not really supporting the relaxing experience I was after.

Lovely staff, clean and comfortable. Annex was gorgeous and breakfast perfect - good quality and very well cooked. Barnie (temperamental Spitzoodle) was welcomed and loved his treats. Location is fabulous for exploring the western lakes combined with the coast, particularly good for people who like the quieter areas. Lovely walks direct from the door up to the fells and down to the costal path.
Nothing! Only thing we would change is our own planning - if we’d have known how good the food was, we would have booked more evening meals in advance as the local pubs are few and far between and were nowhere near as good as the food on site!

Excellent stay at the The Wayside and Whisky Barn, stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the comfort of the hotel and the location. Emiko and her staff look after you with excellent service, great food and are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about things to do and see. Lovely location next to the Black Combe that we climbed when the weather wasnt the best but still loved the adventure. Highly recommend staying here.
Nothing, all was great and enjoyed our stay.

We had a fantastic stay. The room was spacious, really comfortable, and luxurious. Emiko was a fantastic host, giving us lots of helpful information as well as providing whisky recommendations. It is a paradise for whisky lovers! The evening meal we ordered in advance was beautifully prepared and Doreen was warm and friendly and made us feel very welcome. It is perfectly situated for some beautiful walks and beaches. We particularly enjoyed walking up Black Combe, which was visible from our room. Highly recommended!
