Comfortable bed and a good shower. Newly refurbished. Breakfast was good. Very close to everything worth seeing and doing in Wimborne. Good soundproofing.
Some traffic noise but not unexpected. The pay and display car park needed a visit at 8am to renew the parking fee. Some design concepts looked good but suggested that the designer hadn’t tried staying in a room. Dark decor needs better lighting for things like shaving and putting make up on. There was no bin in the bedroom. There was nowhere to put items like toilet bags in the bathroom. The spare loo roll was on the hook on the bathroom door. None of these issues would stop us staying again though.

I recently had the pleasure of staying one night at The Lion Head Pub in Wimborne, and even though it was a short visit, it left a lasting impression. The room was spotless, cozy, and tastefully decorated—ideal for a peaceful night’s rest. Everything felt thoughtfully arranged, from the plush bedding to the charming countryside touches that made it feel like a true home away from home. But the real highlight? Breakfast. It was absolutely superb. I opted for the full English, and it was everything you’d hope for—crispy bacon, golden hash browns, perfectly poached eggs, and sausages that were clearly high quality and locally sourced. The toast was thick-cut and buttery, and the coffee was rich and freshly brewed. It was the kind of breakfast that sets the tone for a great day. The staff were warm and welcoming, making me feel like a valued guest even during a brief stay. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality really stood out. If you’re passing through Wimborne and need a comfortable place to stay with a breakfast that rivals any café in town, The Lion Head Pub is a fantastic choice. I’ll definitely be back for a longer visit next time!

Well equipped bedroom with substantial furniture - like the rest of the pub - but, on balance, too much furniture to the size of the room. Our superior room had separate loo and shower, but there may have been more actual usable space if they had remained as one room - both the loo and shower were quite narrow. The bed was too soft for us but I accept that's a personal preference as many would enjoy the enveloping comfort of a wallowy bed.
The food was acceptable without being stunning. It varied from excellent to good, e.g. chicken and ham pie in the evening was excellent but the fish and chips was only good. The breakfast was the same mixture of excellent and good.

The room was great, could have done with a dressing table and some lights we’re not working
The breakfast was terrible. Poor quality products and eggs Benedict served on a burger bun not what it should be. We were pressured to order our breakfast the night before and give a time we wanted it, this made us uncomfortable and felt that how would we know what we might want the night before. On the morning we wanted some extras added to the breakfast but was left with no one to be seen to ask and we were not asked if this was still what we wanted.

Recently refurbished and very clean, well set out and comfortable. Excellent shower, very comfortable bed, and a well presented breakfast. Staff were helpful and cheerful. All in all, a very good and reasonably priced hotel.
It is where it is --- on the intersection of a busy road a couple of hundred yards from the centre -- so road noise was inevitable but not too intrustive. Decor is very tidy and well executed but a tad dark --- but then again, Wimborne is the home of Farrow and Ball!

The staff were charming. The room was large and had everything one needed.Spotless bedding and bathroom. Loved the table with ground coffee, cafetière etc. One lamp was missing a bulb but it was replaced when we reported it. Also, the staff member who showed us to the room kindly carried one of our cases up the second set of stairs.
The sisal carpet on the stairs and in our room, and the bedside table were stained. Liquid soap containers were empty. We were up in the attic and the stairs up to our room were steep and narrow. One had to take care not to hit the sloping ceiling when passing the end of the bed towards the bathroom.

Nice fluffy towels, good sheets and quality bathroom products. Very obliging staff and a first class breakfast. Bottled water in room, as well as tea and coffee etc. Room nicely decorated and comfortable.
Our room was very noisy, as lots of traffic from three directions whizzed past, often well into the evening. Our summer stay meant that our windows were open, so we really noticed the traffic and the refuse collection first thing in the morning. Our room was right at the top of the building (and tricky to find), so the three narrow flights of stairs wouldn’t be suitable for everyone. I’m not sure what the solution to these problems might be, as there’s no possibility of a lift in such an old building. Triple glazing might not be possible to reduce the noise. Such a pity, as the hotel has so much going for it. I don’t think the issues raised would stop us from staying again.

Friendly staff. Cean, comfortable room. Beautifully decorated throughout. Lovely full english breakfast. Close to town centre.
We stayed in the Chablis room, disappointed there was no mirror in the bedroom. It would have been nice to have had a small mirror over the sink in the separate toilet and a hand towel. (There was room for a mirror and towel ring). A box of tissues and small rubbish bin would also have been useful. The large shower head did not have much pressure and water was directing all over the place. Not the best flushing toilet.

Dinner in the restaurant and breakfast was very good, and the coffee excellent. Good quality tea/coffee/hot chocolate in room. All the products you might need in the bathroom. Fresh, clean bedding and very comfortable bed and pillows.
Could hear the music from the pub and restaurant below. Could also hear the traffic into the night and early morning as located by the roadside at a mini roundabout. I'm a light sleeper and used to quiet nights, so the background noise may not disturb other guests quite as much.

OMG !! We are definitely coming back! What a lovely place. So convenient for visiting family that we will use this "pub with rooms" instead of the other local "pub with rooms" where we have also stayed. The room was huge, the location is fabulous and perfect for being nosy and people watching. The complimentary bathroom toiletries surpass all others anywhere else we've stayed. When we came down for breakfast, what can I say! very pleasant atmosphere, superb staff, exceptional choice of food including croissants, crumpets, toast, jams and honey etc, cereal, granola's, fresh strawberries, yoghurts, grapes, bananas, apples and oranges etc, 2 different options of milk and 3 fresh fruit juices to choose from. Then there was the cooked breakfast menu. My mouth is watering just remembering it all. Full English, vegan and vegetarian options also. You could add extra's and then there were all the breakfast sandwiches to choose from and the best bit for me was ..... omelette. I hardly ever see omelette on the menu lately and The Minster Arms had a choice of 4. Also there were things like eggs royale and eggs benedict. I hope you can tell how impressed we were!!!!!
The lunch menu was quite limited, that's about the only thing I can say which is even slightly negative. That being said, the triple cooked chips are out of this world!!!
