This family run hotel and restaurant is close to the old town high street on a side road. Most of Dubrovnik is up steep stairs but I was so happy to stay on flat ground. The rooms are beautifully decorated, with flowers on a side table, good lighting, and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable with soft pillows and crisp linens. Lovely soaps and creams. Breakfast is taken in the restaurant. It's not a buffet but you can order eggs a la carte, choice of juices and hot drinks and a plate of fruit and fresh bread and preserves. All prepared with care. Attention to detail goes for everything.
I had issues with the wifi connection which I found very slow but my son did not have the same issue and it may have been linked to my phone.

We really loved the staff of the hotel and restaurant who treated us like family. Mario greeted us when we arrived at the hotel, served us a wonderful breakfast, and prepared a takeaway breakfast when we departed early the following morning. Martin provided exceptional service for our dinner at Fourty-four Restaurant downstairs. David was charming when we saw him midday. The manager Damir was also great and saw us off the morning of our departure. These wonderful people made us feel so welcome and made our stay at the hotel exceptional. But that's not all! The hotel was wonderfully situated close to the centre of Old Town Dubrovnik. The room we had, "Glow", was generously sized and had the most wonderful stone walls. The modern bathroom was lovely. Wifi worked well and was plenty fast. Breakfast is included for guests from 8-10 am and there is no fixed breakfast menu. Mario prepared breakfast at our request including some of the best cappuccino in town. Forty-four Restaurant on the main floor provided an exceptional dining experience and while we tried another restaurant on our second evening, we wish we had dined at Forty-four Restaurant a second time. The hotel and restaurant were immaculately clean, testament to the care of the staff of this family run business.
We loved everything but travellers with mobility issues should know the rooms are accessed by the stairs. This was not an issue for us. Also, the central location means it is a bit noisy in the evening and quiets down later - my observation would be this is common for almost all accommodation in the Old Town. Apple Maps shows the wrong location for Guest House 44 and Forty-Four Restaurant. I submitted a correction. Google Maps shows the wrong location for Guest House 44, but the correct location for Forty-Four Restaurant. Not a big deal, we asked a local for guidance.

I had the best time in Dubrovnik, in part, because everyone at Guest-House Forty-Four greeted me from the moment I arrived and throughout my stay. I felt like a member of the family. Travelling alone for the first time was no problem because of everyone at the Guest-House. The manager/owner greeted me personally and showed me where the property was located. The location was top-notch. I cannot wait to return with my husband. The trip was so memorable -- what a magical and surreal little city. Kudos to everyone working there -- I felt lucky to stay at this hotel. I ate dinner both nights at the hotel -- superb. Thank you everyone! Cheers, Leigh-Anne from Los Angeles

The hotel is bang in the middle of the old town so you really feel like you are staying in the centre of it all. Upon arrival we were greeted by the manager who was super friendly and welcoming. We were made to feel at home immediately. We arrived hot and slightly exhausted after a difficult journey and were surprised with a complimentary glass of wine. The room was very nicely appointed and the bed super comfortable. The shower was very effective, the room was a good size, private and with a really sweet terrace where we sat and enjoyed our wine. Breakfast the following morning was very good and the waiter super friendly. We only stayed one night but it was exactly what we had booked in terms of location and quality of the accommodation.
Given the price of the room and the quality of everything in it, we were surprised not to have a proper coffee machine. It really would add to the calibre of the guest house to pop a Nespresso machine in each room. Sachets of Nescafé really are not acceptable in a hotel of this quality. Secondly, and it is not the fault of the hotel, but being in central Dubrovnik is noisy so ear plugs are essential. The hotel is bang next to a rather lively Irish pub which plays loud music late into the night and bizarrely early in the morning too. Glass clearing at circa 5.15 am also not much appreciated. Hence, although we loved the location and the staff and the room (bar the coffee machine) we would probably choose to stay outside of the old town in the future as we need our sleep!

I have just checked out of this beautiful boutique hotel. I have traveled all over the world staying in luxury 5 star hotels like the four seasons, aman, etc. This is one of the most charming boutique hotels with the most personalized and attentive service we have ever received. It is tiny, 5 rooms, and family run. The manager, Damir, goes above and beyond for the property and guests. We had a family of 7, and upon check in, and seeing all of us with all of our luggage, ( we just spent a week on a Moorings catamaran seeing the islands), he upgraded us to a 4 story, 3 bedroom apartment that literally was a “palace”, just because he thought we would be more comfortable! This palace was unbelievable, and gorgeous!! The location of the property can’t be beat. It is right in the center of the walled medieval city and old town of Dubrovnik. The restaurant is also the best in the city and one of the best meals we had during our 12 day stay in Croatia. A lot of the restaurants in old town are the same, but their restaurant is much more upscale with better food quality and presentation. The waitstaff are also exceptional. Our server last night, Martin, was amazing! The chef is great and the included breakfast is quite special as the morning service staff were so accommodating and professional and they will make you whatever you want. The manager personally met us at 5 am to assist us getting to the airport for an early flight. We loved our stay here and will never forget how special this property is along with the incredible people who work there. We absolutely loved it and it was a perfect end to our trip to Croatia!

Just amazing. Beautiful rooms in a beautiful location. We stayed in the ‘silver’ room which was spacious and cool, beautifully decorated with a lovely private patio. It is obvious how much care and attention has gone into making this place so authentic and special. All the staff were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The food in the restaurant was amazing especially the Black Ravioli and vongole. One of the best places we have ever stayed. Would love to return. Thanks for making our stay so special.

Fantastic location, lovely room with a massive comfy bed. Right in the heart of the old town so really easy to pop in and out between visits to the sights. The owner and his staff were brilliant and friendly. I couldn't have hoped for more. Breakfast was great and the food in the restaurant was excellent.
The coffee was a bit cold one morning:-😃

It was amazing vacation! The location is perfect-in the heart of Old Town. Breakfast are delicious, staff always smiling and helpful. The terrace is spacious and well hidden so you can enjoy the view alone. It’s a family business so the owner is so involved! He came to greet us by himself! 10 out of 10 experience! Would come back for sure!

fabulous location if you are planning on staying in the old town of Dubrovnik. Paula was an amazing host and met us from our transfer to escort us to the accommodation. Breakfast was at an alternative location only a short walk away with amazing views across the harbour. The restaurant was amazing and definitely worth booking. The images on site are an accurate reflection of the accommodation. 😊
Nothing to dislike. I note that others have made mention of some noise-which was not our experience-there was atmosphere from local town but when windows and shutters closed you had great sound proofing
