We have been here before and had high expectations, which were if anything surpassed on this visit. Originally we had booked for 2 weeks earlier but had to cancel when our car broke down (we were using Chartres as our half-way stop on the journey back to England); then had to come back to France 2 weeks later to collect the car from Blois and had a frantic two day trip, of which the night in Chartres was the midpoint. And everything about it was perfect: the super-comfortable room with a view of the cathedral, the terrace where we finally sat down for a kir on a balmy August evening, the restaurant with its menu with matched wines, the huge soft bed with lovely linens, the fabulous breakfast the next morning. The light show was the cherry on the cake - can’t credit that to the hotel but it was lovely. Overall it was just what we needed at that juncture and we were incredibly grateful to all at the Boeuf Couronné for a marvellous little stay.

The hotel looks lovely in the photos we did have sercure parking we booked it online but the hotel didn't receive our email but the lovely lady on reception gave us a secure parking spot. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel is right in the middle of everything

The room was nice but a little small but the bathroom was tiny we were on the second floor plug sockets were hard to get to unless you moved some furniture

Very near to the cathedral and other attractions. Beautiful and comfortable room with view of the cathedral. Nice furniture. Excellent breakfast. In-house bar and restaurant. Private parking. Great cordiality and sympathy.

The evening meal was excellent. However it was not quite as good as the one we had 4 weeks before. This could have been caused by the large banquet in the next room. Food quality at breakfast was good but many items were left unfilled, eg. butter, bacon and scrambled eggs.

The rooms are small but comfortable, and the location perfect. Plumbing noises are annoying in some rooms.

Location was excellent and the room very comfortable. Loved the addition of the elevator, travelling internationally can mean heavy bags! The staff helpful, and generous about the parking facilities

The team didn't communicate our dinner requests across all changeover team so that was a bit tricky and we wound up having to find our meal at another location, which was a pity.

the bathroom was closet sized and the toilet was the worst I've ever seen - to flush you have to push a button (there are 2) and it starts to fill, then stops, and you have to push the other button to get it to flush....it doesn't matter which button you flush first - it works the same with either one.

Very helpful and friendly staff, the restaurant was excellent, would eat there again even if we weren't staying at the hotel. the room was comfortable with a good view of the cathedral. The location to the centre of town is only a short walk away. The use of the private parking is a must and it was only 80m away from the hotel.

The ensuite bathroom in the room was a little cramped, could have done with a little more space.

The room and bathroom are small - but not a problem because who wants to spend a long time in your room when the city and cathedral are so beautiful?

We asked for and paid extra for rooms with Cathedral view for the nightly illuminations. Our rooms were exceptional as far as the view went. We had a bullseye view of the Cathedral all the time, and during the nighttime illuminations, we were able to view the festivities for over an hour after we returned to our rooms. This hotel was beyond our expectations and I have been recommending it to all those I tell about my trip. The staff was cordial, taking our bags when we arrived before check-in time and keeping our bags after we checked out but still had two hours before train time. They acted like they were happy to accommodate us.

Nothing could have been better

Great location as a base to explore the town. Restaurant is on site but a separate business to the hotel but great food choices and attentive staff. We stayed 2 nights and both nights the weather was beautiful so could eat dinner outside to enjoy the live entertainment, pianist and singer/guitarist.
