The location is perfect, right behind the cathedral. The hotel was a former monastery, and the building itself is very beautiful. I drove (rented car) there, and was able to park right in the courtyard of the Hotel, beside the main door. I will advise to those travelling by car, that there was a traffic restriction bollard (which google maps didn't show, and confused me greatly) which was in force and stopped access. I found out that you can hit the intercom button on the pillar, state you are a guest of the hotel, and the police will lower the bollard to allow access. Hope that helps for anyone in the same situation!

Location to cathedral was great. Main reason we visited Chartres so being almost on the doorstep proved a huge plus. The room was basic which we expected but was spacious and clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The view from the window was lovely . Birds singing, swifts flying around en masse. Very relaxing. Staying here certainly enhanced our aim to relax, recharge and gain a spiritual boost. No tv in the room. Breakfast was continental style but varied choice and very good quality. Pleasant service each morning. We are planning to return to Chartres and will definitely stay here again if possible.

Nothing, really. Missed access to a kettle in the room though there was a coffee machine near reception for a small charge.

This property is very difficult to describe - architecturally beautiful, fantastically positioned to see the main sights of Chartres (100 yards from the cathedral) - and yet also decidedly functional… You get the feeling almost immediately when entering this place that it is primarily designed for visiting groups (particularly spiritual groups), which is fine of course, but helpful to be aware of. Rooms are the most basic I’ve seen, bed, chair, desk - but again, somehow beautiful in their simplicity. We had a garden view room which offered us a view of the famous labyrinth and rooftops and river. In terms of location, this place couldn’t be more perfect!! We had the absolute joy of seeing the evening illuminations (starting at 11pm) - all within a 5 minute walk of the Hotel. Parking was free, abundant and easy! Please don’t be put off my others comments about driving to the property - it requires a very short exchange with a local police officer to lower the bollard and allow for access to the pedestrian street - but no problem at all!

The following weren’t issues for us, but may be helpful to know for others: There was a significant wait to check in (even at 4pm) - there appears to be only 1 member of staff and a policy of leaving a note on the door to say ‘back soon’. We would probably have spent some time sitting in the garden, so more could be made of the outside space - currently there is no provision for this. The famous Labyrinth in the property is overgrown and unloved. Which is such a shame.

A beautiful and historic building next to the Cathedral . The Breakfast in the cloisters is a lovely experience in itself with good simple breakfast items which were very fresh and a lovely lady working there. The Breakfast room/ cloisters are beautiful and it is a great way to start your day. A tranquil and relaxing place. This was my third visit to this hotel. The building is beautiful, the beds very comfortable, the atmosphere is very peaceful and I hope to return.

No complaints really. Don't expect luxury and "frills" this is a place for simple comforts and a very relaxing place to be. The rooms are small which is fine by me

Hotel Saint Yves was a beautiful, historical building located right behind Chartres Cathedral, and in walking distance to many restaurants and cafes. We had a very spacious, comfortable room with an exciting view of the spires of Chartres Cathedral. The breakfast was delicious with many options, and the ancient stone walls of the breakfast room made it an interesting place to eat! The location cannot be beat; we could walk to Chartres Cathedral in two minutes.

We did not have clear, concise directions to reach Hotel Saint Yves. We had great difficulty in finding the vehicle entrance to the pedestrian area of Chartres which is where the hotel is located. A map would have been very useful.

Great location, right next to the cathedral so very central. There is a free parking at the hotel which is great for people travelling by car. The rooms were clean and very quiet. Overall great stay.

The town had lots of construction, so it was difficult to drive around. Also, the hotel is located on a hill and it's not easy to access/drive right to its parking. In order to access the hotel we had to pass through a borne, which we didn't know how to do. We had to find a different parking place and call the hotel, so I guess these instructions should have been shared in advance. The last 200 meters were slightly stressful because of this, otherwise - great place to stay.

I'm a tour guide and retreat planner, and my group of 17 women stayed here for three nights. This hotel, their service and their delicious meals was the one place during our 10-day tour that was most enjoyed by my entire group. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly. Every meal was perfect, and their location is the most ideal - centrally located on the main street and right near the elevator that takes you up to the sanctuary. I will most definitely be booking this place again, and highly recommend them for anyone visiting Rocamadour.

This place is right next to the cathedral. They have a movable post in the street that you go up. You use the phone to call the office and they will lower the post so you go up. They have parking but it is limited so get there early if possible. Once you are there leave the car as you can walk everywhere. Lot's of restaurants nearby. Very helpful staff and the place was perfect for my stay. The room was fine and very comfortable. The breakfast was like most with coffee and rolls and such. All in all a very nice stay in Chartres. I highly recommend this place.

You can't beat the location, 2 minutes from the cathedral. The private parking was a key draw for us. The hotel is located in the pedestrian area and you need to go through a security bollard. Be sure to read the hotel's instructions before arriving. The room had a great view of the city and country side.

Nothing that we didn't like really. This is a hostellerie, not a 5-star hotel, so accommodations are basic, but functional. It's not that we didn't like it. We did! Be prepared though for less fluffy towels, two hard wooden chairs instead of comfy ones and no coffee makers, etc. It was very comfortable though in it's own way.

Located a few steps from one of the grand cathedrals of the world. Room comfortable and very clean. Breakfast (extra charge) is to kill for. I will dream about the warm fresh croissants and madeleines for the rest of my life.

I walked from the train station with a backpack and roller suitcase and it was a slightly uphill walk, good thing it was only a few minutes' walk. And the laundry two minutes away was closed for indeterminate reasons ("France") the first time I tried to wash my clothes. But the hotel doesn't control everything, does it? Oh, and it rained one day...
