This complex of single rooms and apartments was in the centre of Reefton with lots of cafes, two grocery stores and town museum within two blocks. If you want to overnight, reserve well in advance as there isn't much alternative except for freedom and paid camping.

Parking is difficult if you have a big vehicle. We unloaded our car in front of the unit and then moved it to a street location. While it didn't bother us as we had experienced this before, the shower is very basic - a shower head and drain with a curtain to close off that corner of the bathroom. Just saying area has biting insects - bring your bug spray!

Historical building set in what feels like an old style film set! Reefton is a vibe and this motel fits so well into it! Staff were so welcoming and beds were comfy and clean. Grocery story right next to the motel and a true to style pub minutes walk away. We loved our wrap around balcony!

Our personal preference would be to have a more modern decor and sofas but understand keeping with the more historical feel. A heads up about the possibility of the siren would have helped so we weren’t caught off guard when they went off late at night. Shower is on the smaller side for those tall travellers amongst you!

We stay in the older part of the motel but they have done up the important bits like the beds and the bathroom. The TV and radio were new too. They are probably working on the carpet and the couch to match the other updates as they get a chance as the other rooms had been done. The people were so friendly, you really couldn't ask for more.

Location was excellent and close to everything you needed. The hosts were outstanding (lovely and friendly and happy to assist with ANYTHING). The staff that kept out rooms clean for our 3 night stay were lovely too and did an exceptional job for us.

We did just have a little difficulty on 1 occasion with the door to unit 5 - we had trouble unlocking the door to gain access as the lock seemed to have moved a little. We got there in the end but could maybe do with a wee look at.

We travelled to Reefton on motorcycles through very strong rains, arriving at the Lantern court was a pleasure, the heating system was very welcoming, not taking long to dry our gear. the owner met us with a welcoming smile and even allowed us garage storage for our bikes. Great place to stay.

Obliging staff who went the extra mile to make me feel welcome even though three of our party couldn’t be there due to road closures. My room was cosy warm when I arrived.

Everything was just perfect. There wasn’t anything I wasn’t happy with.

Fantastic location in the heart of the village, close to the shops and the river/walking track. Rooms were clean and tidy and had everything you would need for a short or longer stay. Hotel manager and all the employees were friendly and welcoming.

Motel was in walking distance to supermarket, 2 pubs, Gin Distillery an Main street for café.

Maybe being told about uneven floor an story behind it. Was like being back in Christchurch earthquake days

Excellent location with Supermarket on the opposite corner. Our unit was huge - 2 bedrooms, separate kitchen. quirky, old building. [Uneven floor!] Loved sitting on the patio with an evening glass of wine. Parking within sight of the unit, Comfortable bed and large bedroom. Friendly staff, kitchen well equipped. Very safe and secure with high tech door lock. Laundry available,

No issues with the accommodation. Was one of the more expensive units in our three plus week holiday in the South Island.

Great location and super owners - very friendly and helpful. Liked the cubby beds for our kids - super cosy.

Double bed was not the most comfortable for two big adults but overall the motel was excellent - clean, great location, excellent set up
