Nathan in reception and behind the bar was exceptional. He was professional as well as a genuine a stand out staff member ,nothing was too difficult. As well as the room being beautiful, clean warm and quiet. Punakiki scenic resort was fabulous.

The breakfast was overpriced and of poor quality.The coffee tasted like mud.the staff member on in the dining room was flustered and racist.( labels had been moved on the prunes and dates and she said oh the chinese did that) This not ok ,her interpersonal skills were very poor. ALSO we ordered sorbet that had paper stuck to it!

- Ocean view suite had an incredible view, I had a gorgeous sunset and it was amazing listening to the angry ocean on that particular evening - Room was immaculate and very well appointed, great size bed facing floor to ceiling windows & door - everything was spotless as was the bathroom - Room was spacious, had everything you needed to stay in and have a great evening with the kitchen, but I chose to eat at the restaurant & bar - All windows had magnetic fly screens which was a great touch, you could leave all the windows open without worrying about being eaten by bugs - Reception and bar staff all super friendly and helpful

- Bar was amazing, Brekky was amazing - but the gnocchi arrabiata I tried for dinner, as someone whose a keen cook with an Italian missus, was cheaply made and almost tasted like it came from a jar…. If I was the owner I’d look into that

Location, Location, Location Staff friendly Breakfast ok (nothing special but not bad)

Room (ground floor) smelled a bit damp / mouldy. Dinner was horrendous, food tasteless and kitchen staff / chef needs to be replaced Too bad having such bad tasting food in an amazing location like this. The experience of a dinner in this location could be so great but then is so disappointing due to lack of professionalism and skills. Salmon entree got served without the salmon, braised lamb shank wasn’t braised but boiled instead, no or way to less seasoning and just no love in the food they create. Such a shame. Service was ok.

What a wonderful hotel in an amazing location. The booking.com description undersells what it's really like. Worth the extra money for a beach front room. Great quality meals and lovely attentive staff always on hand and pleased to help. I travel light and self laundry on site facilities were just what I wanted. Punakaiki rocks are a short distance away and a quality attraction not to be missed. Thoroughly recommend staying at this excellent hotel.

Been here once before, but on this occasion stayed in a room up on the hill with a balcony and an excellent view overlooking the beach! Awesome location in the Punakaiki and not far from local blow holes and other amenities! If you're lucky enough, the sunset on the beach is a must see opportunity. The room is spacious enough, clean and the beds are nice & comfy! I enjoyed my stay, so did my kids and I reckon we'd be keen on coming back!

The restaurant is nice enough, the staff that served us were great but the menu was a bit small and slightly underwhelming, as well as a bit on the expensive side! A few more choices for evening meals and bigger portions would get a thumbs up although the quality of the meals were decent enough!

Lovely large room with a huge bed, and a spare single bed. Handy to have a kitchenette. The view of the sea from our room was awesome. And having a balcony was a nice feature. Big bathroom as well. The scenery of the bush surrounding the accommodation was just perfect. We had dinner at the restaurant and walking the entire walkway and through the “tunnel” which was lit up was awesome. I loved it.

Very nice location to the ocean. the Front desk attendants were terrific in helping us move to another room. Restaurant staff (Zoe and Bonn) were exceptional with their service. The food was excellent.

When we had the large sliding window open, the road noise disrupted our comfort level. We moved from our initial room (310) to room 508 and that was a much better. I suggest booking a room in the 500-level if you prefer less road noise.

Beautiful location, lovely rooms and friendly staff. Useful there’s a restaurant attached as not too much around for food.

Only things were the shower had a couple random hairs on the wall and wasn’t draining properly so was also a little bit slippery. The kettle and coffee plunger also had crumbs in them which I cleaned out. I also would’ve liked if the little kitchenette had some cutlery and a microwave, there’s not much for food around so would be nice to have a cheap option in the room as I didn’t end up going to the restaurant as all the mains were $40+ which is steep considering most restaurants have options around $20

The staff are absolutely fantastic. Ethan and Yash in the evenings did an outstanding job looking after everyone in dining room, bar and reception, outstanding team work.

Not a complaint but would like to mentioned the cooked breakfast was cold and most items had dried out. However continental breakfast was beautiful with many options.

Very nice view and placement outside of the town. Very comfortable bed and we'll equipped kitchenette.

Stuff was very young had problems speaking English, restaurant couldn't provide me with a table despite making a reservation because the "kitchen was too busy" (I can imagine those poor souls scrambling in there). Bar was very basic as well. Whole thing was too expensive for the overall quality provided.
