Writing as a part time wheelchair user and walking stick user. This feels like a home and a group of people just enjoying each other's company. As a smaller hostel, the family running it do a fantastic job. Lots of travellers come back here and I can see why. You feel at home and like you are very welcome to come back. Very colourful and clean. Staff and guests were very friendly and the free shuttle service from the station was a game changer for me. I came as a last minute thing and informed the team of what I might benifet from. Jacinda wrote back derailing exactly the steps and ramps and what might be tricky for me so I could navigate it and work it out. Making access is really clear for me. Thank you would love to stay again! Beds so comfy and clean really nice vibe of the whole place.

I loved the place! The staff were like parents taking care of their children, they took my gear for me to another room when they got the news that there is another available spot in the female room. They're super caring, nice, funny and chill at the same time. They also welcomed my friends from another hostel and let us take the bikes for free. The hot tub for 5 dollars in the evening is super relaxing and the hostel is also full of things to do such as comfy Tv room and board games. It is just amazing, I would recommend it to everyone.
Nothing, just the fact that I had to leave

The first thing I noticed when I entered Global Village was how clean it was. It just gleamed amongst the vibrant colours, artefacts, cosy rooms with sofas and benches and tables and chairs. Then I met Jacinda and Paddy the owners. What truly lovely hosts. Nothing was a problem. They are just so kind and chatty and down-to-earth. The beds were fresh and comfortable, kitchen big and clean and well-equipped and the shred men’s/ladies showers and toilets were sparkling and beautifully appointed. This place could be anywhere in the world and it makes you feel like you’re part of an adventure. Don’t worry about party animals. All ages mingle nicely and there is a great equilibrium there that makes you want to stay longer. It’s close to New Wotld supermarket and town centre. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll get to give Buddy the gorgeous beagle a tummy rub. Just book it :)
No downsides whatsoever.

Very cozy hostel with a very nice owner. Loved the free Kajak. Kitchen well equipped and big. Rooms lovely with their own light and charging for mobile phones at the bed. I did really enjoy my stay.
A bit far away from the center and very early cleaning times. The kitchen is closed every day from 10:30 - 12:30 am which is a little annoying tbh 🙈 but I guess that's the price for the early check in hours

Absolutely amazing, best hostel we’ve stayed in. Was so clean, very well equipped kitchen with sharp knives, spotless bathrooms. They had bikes you can borrow, kayaks, you name it. Great location and great chill areas and comfortable balcony which we had drinks and chatted to other guests on. The bed was quite firm and be sure to bring body wash as there’s none available, but I would still rate 100/10. Was a bit sad to leave tbh

It's a truly unique and beautiful hostel where you easily fall into deeper relaxation. To start off with, the whole place is a piece of art! Every detail is made and cared for with a strong sense of quality and thoughtfulness. The kitchen is an inspiring place to cook, the fridges are clean, the knives are sharp and the pans are in perfect condition. There's fresh air flowing through the hostel during the day and warm air from the heating during the night. I feel like there's no end to all the good things I could say about the Global village. I guess I'm just very happy there's still gems like this around, where it's not just about the money, but about creating a beautiful place for travelers to rest, play boardgames, music and forget about the time for a while...

One of the coolest hostels I've stayed in, really nice social areas, big clean kitchen, lovely outside areas. The host was very friendly. We got a private room even though we booked a dorm which was really nice and beds were comfy.
There were a couple of signs around the hostel that each said something along the lines of 'You can use the toilets whenever you need, even if cleaning in progress' and 'You can use common areas after checkout, just make sure to leave keys back in time' One of the ladies cleaning seemed upset that we were using the common area/kitchen after checkout (I was just making a cup of tea & eating cereal). Also my mum asked if she could use the toilet and she was told "they've just been cleaned" which seemed quite harsh as she was really desperate to go and this contradicts the signage. Despite this I loved the hostel and maybe we were just being too disruptive!

The most amazing hostel I've had the pleasure of staying at during my four months in New Zealand!!! The owners are amazing, super friendly and helpful I stayed there for 1 week and I had the best time ! The Kayaks and bikes are free which is amazing! Everything is super clean and just a nice atmosphere :) I would definitely recommend to go there if you are in the area.
