An excellent location for anyone seeking good budget accomodation close to Greymouth, The owner was very helpful with good communicaton. Fresh clean bedding supplied at no extra cost unlike other more expensive cabins on my motorbike tour. Plenty of towells and good functional shower. This place is not flash but the basics are done well. The best value budget accomodation on my south island tour. Thank you.

The alterations to this old building were a bit shoddy, but the room cost was appropriately inexpensive, so there is no expectation for luxury. Overall a good experience and a good sleep here.

10 minutes from greymouth, comfy beds and well stocked kitchen. Two shared bathrooms one with a bath, shower, toilet and one with a shower and toilet. Parking round the back and easy to find. Friendly staff. A bit confusing as to how you check in so an email prior just letting you know would be great.

The only thing that is potentially a big flag would be there is a bar attached to the building and if there is an event and band on its so loud. They shut up shop by 11pm so will suit most and if you fancy a beer then you'll ove it BUT if you are hoping for a quiet early night and there is a function on this is not going to happen or if you were hoping to get kids to bed early they will be having a melt down.

The room was actually perfect for our needs - two of us needed to go at 4am to Punakaiki the next day and two didn't leave until check out. Because of the way this room was setup, we were able to leave relatively quietly at 4am without disturbing our friends. We liked the private bathroom as well, and the kitchenette was very handy, though we didn't use it very much at all! The property is older but has some nice charm and is a good, quiet, comfortable stay that we thoroughly enjoyed. We would come back.

The kettle in the room looks a bit yuck! The door handle of our room was also about to fall off on the inside. It would have been nice to have a door or curtain even between the two spaces in our room to separate the double bed from the two twins and kitchenette. The deck at the back entry feels very flexible...!

Staying at Brunnerton was great! John (the owner) makes sure your stay is going to be pleasant and is ready to help with anything is in his hands. Best deal for pribate rooms around. Nice big house with complete kitchen equipment and cosy living room, we stayed for 2 nights and back for an other 2 after going hiking for few days. John let us leave the car at his place too, so it was in a safe space.

Location is not in town but if you have a vehicule is less than 10 minutes drive and very quiet town. Easy to hitchike too!

Affordable place to stay not too far from Greymouth, Punakaiki and Arthur's Pass. We stayed for a night, and John was very kind and helpful during our stay. The rooms were a bit cold as we couldn't get the heater working, but was quickly fixed. The kitchen and lounge area is very homely and luckily we were the only ones using it during our stay!

The window in the bathroom did not shut properly which meant it was very cold in the bathroom, and there was a cold draft coming into the bedroom

A lovely place to stay! John, the owner, is genuinely warm, accommodating, and makes you feel right at home. We were pleasantly surprised to arrive during an open mic night—it felt like stepping into a cozy European tavern. The lodge is in a great spot for travelers wanting to explore Greymouth and the West Coast. Highly recommended for a affordable and comfortable stopover.

The host is a relaxed and friendly person. We had a room with bathroom and kitchenette and everything was clean. The kitchen contained enough equipment to cook a full meal and do the dishes. It is not a modern place, but for what you pay you do get good value.

It is a bit far from town, but fine if you have a car. Wifi signal was good, but the internet connection itself would drop sometimes.

The staff are very helpful especially the main man. Very friendly and goes out of his way to chat with us. We even ran into him at the local pub and he chatted with us then😁😁😁. The facilities are clean, comfy room and has everthing we need. Would go back to stay if we're ever on the west coast again. Please extend our thanks to them.

Close and convenient to the start of the Paparoa track (starting at Blackball) The room was very reasonably priced and the room was comfortable. The staff were lovely and we used John’s taxi service to get us to the start of the track and then pick up from the other end which saved us some money. Would definitely recommend for Paparoa track walkers.

Great location, close to the start of the Paparoa Trail. In a beautiful location - lots of greenery in the garden which the rooms look out on to. Very comfortable bed. Space to re-assemble my bicycle. Loved the dogs :-) Very accommodating host - went above and beyond to help get me to and from the ends of the trail. So friendly and helpful.
