The chalet had recently been upgraded and was lovely. Stunning location with views over the sea and blow holes . Very comfortable bed and sofa , great shower , it was warm and quiet . We had a problem with the internet speed < 1 and very intermittent but to the owners credit her said we could use the internet in his cafe in town and he gave us a glass of wine to say sorry . It’s how an organisation deals with problems that sorts the good and the bad . He did well and his colleague Valerie was very helpful and understanding . We had a good evening in the cafe with a good meal and live music so we were very happy. Thankyou Patrick
The poor internet . He needs to have a chat with his tech support . The provisions were not good. No water, very little milk for tea. He also needs to provide info on the fact that there is No supermarket in the town or for miles so guests need to advance purchase .

The studio was very quiet, spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and well-equipped kitchenette. Noted that some of the kitchenware is not the usual standard generic stuff that you find in motels but is actually quite decent quality. The bathroom was a good size, with a separate toilet. Lovely outlook from the balcony which you can sit and absorb the greenery surrounding you. The location was amazing, with a very beautiful lookout of the coastline on the motel grounds. Only a short drive to all the attractions in Punakaiki (Pancake Rocks, Blowhole, Truman Track). We had never experienced a contactless check in before but it went smoothly. We really enjoyed our stay here and were quite pleasantly surprised after having read some of the negative reviews for this motel.
Very minor issue but there was no soap in the shower recess.

Fantastic location, secluded and peaceful. We could hear the ocean and had some friendly wekas hanging outside our cabin. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchenette was well appointed. The cabin was very cosy and comfortable.
We stayed in the Bush Cabin and the cleanliness of the cabin could be improved. A broom to sweep the floor when needed would have been great. The bathroom handle was broken. While the cooking facilities are limited (no oven), the stovetop cookers were sufficient and the kitchen contained all the things we needed for self catering.

We arrived a bit late, around 7pm. But it is self check in, convenient to collect key from the reception. The pancake cafe they recommended was tasty and full of fun after visited pancake rocks 😆
The heater isnt warm enough, but the motel should have know this issue as they already prepare the electric warm mat on the bed. A bit chilled when getting up in the winter. The room should have view but all blocked by trees The supermarket closed very early, just remember to buy enough if u prepare to cook in the room.

This lodging exceeded expectations in every way. Check in was a breeze and the room we were in was more like a tiny log cabin. It was so charming!! There was a deck in the back and also a separate area next to the room where a green space extended to a point with was a picnic table and chairs. There was everything one could possibly need. Our biggest gripe is that we foolishly only booked this for one night.
The point with the table and chairs had a clear view in one direction, but the sunset was blocked by large bushes. Also beware of mosquitoes. They are very aggressive in the evening.

We had a very comfortable stay here when we visited the nearby Pancake Rocks in Puakaiki. The unit is very well furnished and the owners have clearly put a lot of thought into making sure that visitors have a comfortable stay. It looks as if the owners also own the Pancake Rocks Cafe but unfortunately as we arrived late one evening and left fairly early the next, we weren't able to talk to them to tell them how much we enjoyed our stay. There is a very welcoming Tourist Information Centre (run by the Department of Conservation I think) near the Pancake Rocks entrance which looked as if it had just been opened. As we found throughout our NZ trip, the staff in the TIC were very friendly and helpful.

Easy self check-into our comfy fresh and clean Lockwood style studio cabins. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay especially the amazing lush natural views of the stunning surroundings from our deck and the location we were in. Only a short drive away you'll find the best little quaint tavern with friendly locals and staff that serve the most tastiest fish'n'chips. Across the road from Punakaiki rocks entrance is a neat café that serve the best pancake breakfast to start your day. Our room served it's purpose for us as we visited many of the local attractions. Another highlight for us was listening to the distant ocean waves at through the night time which was like white noise for us and made for an amazing sleep with the exception of the noisy wekas outside screeching. Overall the perfect stay which we definitely plan to come back and visit again. Thank-you :-)
We really enjoyed everything that was on offer in our lovely room, however it would of been nice to of had a few more coffee sachets as we only had two and we're coffee drinkers. And the other was the soap pump dispenser wasn't working so we had to take it off each time we went to wash our hands. The liquid in the dispenser was very watery too!

Location - a bit out of the main village with twisty highway between. I wouldn’t like to walk between them but great for a car. Parking - in front of lodge. Wide and easy access Restaurants - pancake rock cafe close by in the village. Good food at a decent enough price. Staff - no contact check in and out. Super easy. WiFi speed - 69 mbps down and 39 mbps up on average and was pretty consistent Amenities - Small kitchen for basic snacks and light cooking. Bed / pillows - Large comfortable bed, plenty of pillows and blankets. Noise levels - You're in the treetops, so you're gonna get the sea, trees and nature sounds. Was awesome! Temperature - Would have been nice to have an Aircon as it did get a little hot, but overall was fine. Shower - Consistent water pressure and temp, was clean and did the job. Overall comments - Was a nice location if you have a car, very nice balcony which was the perfect place to listen to nature and read a book.
Would have been nice to have an aircon.

The Blowhole cottage has an amazing view of the ocean, beach and blowhole walk. The location up on the hill was a bonus for the view. Lovely little cottage.
When having a shower the drain was blocked. Took out the shower trap and it was so full of hair - hadn't been cleaned for a while. There were no facecloths to have a wash with. Could have had a microwave dish in the kitchen so something could be heated in the microwave.

It was clean and provided all the necessities for a family to be self catering.
The difficulty of finding where to park etc in the dark. There’s not any signage to assist, and as it’s self check in this was tricky after a long drive. Also our names weren’t on the self check in place so it was a bit confusing. The pictures of the view were misleading so hopefully they will be updated soon for others.
