We had a wonderful stay at Jan and Ian’s, such a lovely couple and beautiful bnb! The room is very well appointed, the private bathroom just down the hall has bath and shower and a separate toilet, and they provide robes to go between your room and the bathroom which we found very thoughtful and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing with fresh fruit, home-made toasted muesli (so good!), juice, coffee/tea, toast, jams, and a choice of eggs and/or bacon. It’s an easy walk from the centre, and there are several restaurant options nearby. We spent a day at Karamea from here which worked really well, and Jan gave us great tips of what to do and where to go, both in Karamea and on our way to Hokitika (we really enjoyed our stops at Constant Bay, the Truman Walk and the pancake rocks). We will most definitely stay at Ian and Jan’s again when visiting Westport!

Nothing, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Easy walking distance to the centre of town; very comfortable queen sized bed and amazing breakfast. A very friendly, helpful, informative and hospitable couple. Unexpectedly we were faced with catching a bus at 7am and our hosts got up early to have breakfast ready for 6am and dropped us off at the bus stop. We liked Westport and enjoyed the walk to the seal colony at Cape Foulwind.

AWESOME Breakfast, very hospitable, great hosts, clean, tidy, thoughtful hosts, close to amenities and lived up to all expectations and its reputation. Friendly folk that were very helpful.

Only a very small matter in that the lighting in the bathroom didn't shine on the face for shaving but i did it by feel. THIS PLACE IS REALLY GOOD AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Our first stay in a Homestay. Lovely Ian and Jan made us so very welcome,making us an afternoon cup of tea,just like home. The house is immaculate,clean and comfortable. We had our own table and chairs overlooking to beautiful garden. Our breakfast was beautifully presented and so much choice. Even had Feijoas,my first taste this trip! The hosts were perfect. We certainly would stay again!

We had a lovely stay with Jan and Ian in their homestay for the night. The beds were comfortable, the rooms spacious. Jan and Ian were lovely hosts, we had a nice variety and quantity of breakfast for us in the morning, and they even contacted us to ask for arrangements for returning items that we left behind.

The private bathroom for the second bedroom is down the corridor opposite Jan and Ian's bedroom, which felt a little awkward, but the rooms are private and do have locks, so that would just be a personal issue.

Hosts were warm, friendly, and welcoming. Lovely home with beautiful gardens. Our room was very private, exceptionally clean and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful with cold and cooked choices. Even gluten free bread! Hosts gave us valuable travel advice. Location was very convenient to town, brewery, restaurants, beach and all conveniences. Would highly recommend.

Our stay here was absolutely wonderful! Everything was excellent - the room, the property, the town, but most of all, Jan and Ian who run the place. They are the friendliest, most welcoming people you can imagine: they couldn't do enough for us - making us feel totally at home, advising us about where to go in town, where to eat, preparing a fantastic breakfast for us. We've had some marvellous experiences in NZ, but getting to know Jan and Ian was definitely one of the best!

The breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious. Homemade museli and ginger spiced rhubarb a real winner. The bacon and scrambled eggs were very tasty and a fabulous way to prepare for my traverse of the Lewis Pass. The cleanliness and comfort first class. Easy parking immediately outside. Both Jan and Ian warm, friendly and helpful. They are very welcoming.

Hosts were welcoming, friendly and generous. The house of the homestay was spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed and spacious bathroom, with separate toilet and shower room. Everything provided. Fantastic breakfast options and dietary requirements catered for. Easy parking right near the front door. We highly recommend this homestay.

We didn’t dislike anything!

Havenlee Homestay should be called Heavenly Homestay because that was what it was. Our hosts, Jan and Ian, were charming and made us very welcome. The facilities, cleanliness and breakfast were all fantastic but it was the attention to detail that impressed us the most. It was a real home away from home. Highly recommended!
