Walking to town and everything. Great outdoor space! Amazing artwork

People coming to the room without knocking. One said he was housekeeping after opening the door before 10am on the first day for a two night stay. The other one didn’t knock and didn’t mention who she was, just asked if there was something left on top floor. I’ve slept really well but my partner thought it was noisy early in the morning. After all it’s an hostel, can’t expect to be quiet.

We really liked it there. Great staff, super friendly and helpful. Everything is nicely decorated/painted. Its very spacious. The bathroom and showers have been very clean and looked super new. Our room was (12) was very quiet. The surfboard rental and transport to the surf spot was easy. Well organised. We would have loved to stay longer. We felt very comfy and cozy in our room. Not only for "young backpackers". As a mid 30s couple great as well :)

The family rooms are great! Everything you need is there. All linen, blankets, and towels provided which was a bonus! Super friendly and helpful staff! Great atmosphere, colorful and quirky, we really liked the whole vibe of the place!

The family room bathroom is like a wet room, and when you have a shower the water goes EVERYWHERE, could do with one of those rubber water stoppers that prevent the water from flooding into the rest of the bathroom. On a good note the water pressure in shower was really good!!

Bathroom with nice big showers just across from my room. Friendly staff and great surfing lesson. Kitchen was really clean and had a big table to eat. Loads of communal outdoor seating and comfy sofas.

Cooking area in Kitchen was very cramped when making dinner but was nice and clean with space to eat.

-The location is great -Plenty of heating if required, the rooms are very warm -The common areas such as bathrooms & showers & kitchen are reasonably clean and the kitchen is very well equipped -Nice and quiet during my stays -Office staff are friendly

The only thing I can mention is that they don't provide hair dryers for rent, and I had to remind them to change towels, other than that was awesome 😊 Will definitely come back again

The self catering kitchens have improved since I was here previously, and there is also a kitchen serving evening meals, mostly pizzas I think, which is well thought of. I love the outdoor spaces and the beautiful murals. It’s quite quirky, self contained, and yet the town centre is very close by

Lovely homey feel. Beautiful paintings everywhere. Lots of plants, great TV lounge, overall very cozy.

The music playing in the common areas all day long. It's audible in the rooms as well and is honestly really irritating. Also, please fix the cutlery drawer in the kitchen, it gets stuck often.

The atmosphere of this place is second to non. It is chilled, relaxed and offers all you need for a backpacker stay. Bed was comfy, if a little wobbly. Multiple kitchens on site, and cleaning facilities right behind.

Was limited showers and toilets for the number of guests, just prepare to be patient.

Amazing hostel, with a good location only a few minutes walk to the supermarket. The pizza is great and the staff is very friendly. I also really enjoyed the surfing option.

The beds were a bit too small for me and the room was too small for all the luggage.

Had an absolute fantastic stay at Bazil's. Didn't intend to go as far north as Westport, but due to lack of lodging elsewhere we ended up in Westport at Bazil's... FANTASTIC!!! Would book there again for sure. Funky and fun property. Laid back atmosphere. Eclectic but clean and tidy. Will take advantage of surf lessons next time. Definitely hit up Whanake Gallery & Espresso Bar and The West Coast Pie Company... both Stellar!
