where do I start? The hosts were so friendly I felt no request would have been an issue. All very relaxed. Food was excellent, as was the banter. Location fabulous, short stroll to shops and bars. We were lucky enough to have a harbour view which was very much appreciated. Now I know why Heatherlea got such a high rating on Booking.com, worthy of all good comments. Our room had every facility anyone could look for, even a dressing room. Honestly, I would recommend this property in a heartbeat, worth every penny and a lovely treat. Definitely coming back. Thanks to our hosts, you were lovely.

Debby was a warm and welcoming host. The homemade full english breakfast was absolutely delicious and there was a great amount of choice. The room was designed to be homey and cosy yet have every amenity one would need provided - incredibly comfortable. My stay was too short if anything - would highly recommend!

There's little I would have on improvements. If I were to nitpick to find something, I would say a more powerful warm shower would be welcome, especially when you've spent a day rambling the neolithic monuments and the beautiful but windy landscape of Orkney.

The room is like a small apartment. It has everything, and the owner of the house thought of everything needed to give the feeling of a homely room. The bed is so comfortable and cozy. The armchair by the window is pampering and so is the cozy cover for the cool night. The bathroom is sparkling clean and the soaps smell so good! The owner of the accommodation is pleasant and welcoming and kind. She helped me a lot in planning my trip, and in general answered all my questions and it was very pleasant to talk to her. The place is just perfect and like it was taken from a book or a movie.. It met all my expectations and much more!

This place is an absolute gem. We were welcomed like family and made to feel very comfortable. The room was spacious and fitted out with quality finishes making it a very comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. The parking was easy and a small fridge was a nice touch. The breakfast was fabulous - my only regret is that I wasn't feeling well that morning and couldn't eat it all.

friendly and accommodating landlady- I had asked to go on the reserve list as I was keen to stay here in Kirkwall, Debbie contacted me when a room became available and I was not disappointed. Very clean, beautiful spacious room inc a separate dressing area and mini fridge. Bed super comfortable. great Scottish breakfast. Literally everything had been thought through to make it as easy and convenient stay as possible. Debbie also made me up a packed lunch as I was doing a Rabbies tour and I can say it was the envy of the bus 👍 5*, would recommend.

We loved everything about the property. Debbie was the perfect host. Our room was so comfortable and every detail was appreciated. The vanity was a perfect place to get ready, the shower was great, and the fridge was so useful. Your breakfast was delicious and perfect every morning. The location to town was perfect. Just a 5 minute walk. The parking in front was so convenient. Absolutely perfect stay!

If I ever find myself in Kirkwall again, I'll definitely stay here. I stayed in a big, probably recently renovated studio room with its own entrance, and basically didn't want to leave the room. The breakfast was amazing and the host the loveliest person. I slept well and was very well fed also!

Easy to find. Nice welcome note with my key. The room was clean and lovely. Fantastic facilities, tea/coffee, bathroom, spa slippers/robes. Bed was very comfy. Breakfast was really good with a good selection of hot/cold. Host was very friendly. I'll be booking again on my next visit.

I cannot speak more highly of Debbie, Bruce and Findlay at the Heatherlea B&B. Our experience was fantastic; before we got to Orkney Debbie contacted me to check our arrival time, to ensure she could accommodate this. The room was lovely, very clean and the bed extremely comfy; just what we needed after a busy day of sight seeing and trying the local gin! The attention to detail was great, bottled water and fresh milk in the fridge, slippers and robes if required, toiletries also, wine glasses and ice bucket, the TV also had access to Netflix etc. Each morning we got a cooked breakfast, which again was great. There was also cereals, toast, orange juice, yogurt and fruit available. The location was brilliant too, extremely quiet each night, however a 3 minute walk to the harbour where there’s pubs and places to eat. Make sure you book a restaurant in advance as we really struggled on the Saturday evening to find somewhere. Both Debbie and Bruce were welcoming and friendly, any questions you had about the local area, they were more than happy to answer. The Heatherlea really sets the bar high for similar accommodation! Thank you for such a great stay!

Such a pleasure to stay at this property. Debbie has be so thorough and thoughtful in her room preperation with many added touches to add to our comfort. Breakfast was great and so nice to have a bowl of fruit consisting of berries and grapes each morning. The cooked breakfast was exceptional. A lovely experience to meet and stay with Debbie at Heatherlea.
