Cara was a great host and the accommodation was very comfortable. We were warmly greeted, the room was spacious and very clean. The property was very peaceful and is a 3 minute walk to the Seaview hotel where we had a great meal. Further down the road is the John O'Groats village (still walking distance) with souvenir shops, distillery, brewery, camp ground, ferry and public toilets. Cara provided a wonderful continental breakfast with fresh baked bread, plenty of cereal to choose from, yoghurt, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

There is no shower. Bathing is either by bath or hand held shower sitting in the bath.

We had such a lovely time staying at Puffin Cottage. Cara is a wonderful host who has really thought of everything. We kept going back to feed the animals throughout our stay - it was too much fun feeding them! The space is really homely and cosy which made it easy to settle. In the morning, we ran to Duncansby Head Lighthouse and soaked in the amazing views. Then, we came back and enjoyed a great breakfast laid out by Cara. The cottage is a very short walking distance to the main town and to the local pub where you can grab dinner/drinks. 10/10 stay, would highly recommend to anyone staying in John O' Groats!

Everything was really good. Bedroom was immaculately clean and very comfy. Bathroom which is shared with the other bedroom was also very clean. Breakfast was help yourself continental type with a lovely fresh loaf of bread and an egg boiler to go with the toast. Also good range of cereals, jams etc. The location was great, very easy to find and quiet and a short walk to a restaurant where we could get dinner and then another short walk down to the harbour with the famous JOG signpost and a nice micro brewery and pub next to it. The landlady was extremely pleasant and helpful. The petting farm attached wasn't really our thing but would certainly appeal to many and the animals did not create any untoward noise or smell. Would certainly recommend staying here and we will if we are back up there again.

Cara is a lovely host. She is warm and responsive, very kind and asks after her guests. The home/guest section is simple and no frills, the room and shared bathroom are clean and tidy. Beds are comfortable and the space isn't too small. Breakfast is provided, it includes fresh eggs from the farm, and the farm she runs is for her rescue animals. She runs a shop right beside the BnB selling lots of local and homemade products. The BnB has a good location, easily found and a walking distance from the local brewery and distillery.

Walls are a little thin, the bathroom and one of the bedrooms share a wall and when both are occupied there is not much privacy for either. Bathtub could do with a shower curtain although one might still have to stoop since half of the tub has a low roof above.

It’s great what the owner is doing with the property. Interesting to see the animals in petting farm.Perfect location for John O Groats visit. Proximity to Duncansby Head and Stacks. You can see lighthouse from room. Nice home-made bread. Advice from owner re local restaurants.

Room smallish and shared bathroom (but no problem as we knew in advance). Public transport to this remote area is limited so advice to other travellers using public transport is to be very organised. We got bus on departure (one every two hours to Thurso). Bus driver told us official bus stop is at the harbour but fortunately bus stopped for us near Sea View hotel.

The accommodation met all expectations prior to booking. The room booked had typical British charm. The hostess was extremely accommodating and super friendly. The surrounding ambiance, the farm, is also an attraction and a welcome change from the usual touristic hotel monotony. Initial concerns about the bathroom, which has to be shared with other guests, proved to be unfounded. It was no problem at all. A lovely stay that certainly deserves an extension.

The room is very cozy, furnished with charming details and a very comfortable bed. You can see the lighthouse light in the distance from the window, which is great! Amazing breakfast with delightful tableware, lots of homemade treats and local products. Another highlight is the warm, helpful host and her petting farm. Would definitely book again!

it's a bit inconvenient that the window in the shared bathroom cannot be opened.

The hostess was very welcoming, warm and friendly. The accommodation is just a short walk from the town up a quiet street, and only a short walk from a local hotel where they have a restaurant.The beds are very comfortable and one of the best I have slept in. I would definitely recommend puffin cottage for a quiet and comfortable stay. There is also a petting farm if you have small children.

There was no cooked breakfast only boiled eggs which you use an egg boiler yourself. There was cereals and fresh bread, fruit juice and coffee. There was yogurt and jams on offer. There was no shower only a bath and it was a shared bathroom with one other room.

Loved all of it, what a fantastic experience being around the lovely animals and being able to get up close to them, they were so friendly! The place itself was great, comfortable room, great breakfast - loved the egg maker option, and the farm and gift shop is brilliant. We wouldn't stay anywhere else if we return to John O'Groats in the future - thank you Cara!

Cara was a lovely host. Rooms were clean and so comfortable with cute decor. Beds very comfy. Breakfast was super cute, laid out lovely with freshly baked bread, delicious. The animals were amazing, so nice to be able to go round and feed them all and pet them. A lovely cosy stay with a quirky edge. Would fully recommend. The farm shop sold great produce and locally made crafts which were beautiful. Both pubs within walking distance.
