An excellent location and just s short walk to the famous signpost. This was a spur of the moment decision to visit and the host was very helpful and considerate advising me what to see and turning on the electric fire on prior to my arrival so the room was beautiful and warm. A comfortable bed and a very clean and nicely decorated room and a very reasonable price. A great walk from the lighthouse to the twin stacks with wondeful alpine like flowers, although my x 10 magnification binoculars were not powerful enough to clearly see the puffins.

Nothing really.. You will have to share a bathroom (there are two) but given this is a hostel and given the great value for money this is not an issue.

Gordon and his family were great hosts. Gordon found us at the local Hotel, where we were for dinner, just to say Hi, because he was'n at home, when we arrived. I wrote him in advance, and the contact was very kind and helfpul. He also said in advance that the local hotel served Dinner til 8 pm. Very helpful information. The room was really comfortable and clean. Breakfast was really great and we often talked about it later. If you dont like shared bathrooms or dogs , its may not the right place for you to stay. Otherweise i really recommend it. Its a special place for stay overnight. I Hope i come Back one day. Thank you, Gordon

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in John O’ Groats! The host was very friendly and kind, always ready to help. They even came to pick me up from the bus station, which was so thoughtful. The atmosphere in the hotel was warm and welcoming, and I felt very comfortable throughout my stay. Everything was better than I expected, and I recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for such a lovely experience!

Gordon was the perfect host. Friendly and kind and informational about the area. The bathroom was fantastic, and the breakfast was amazing, So much choice. The room had a lovely view and the dog who i believe is called Ellie was gorgeous. Overall a very good atmosphere. A wonderful end to our NC500 journey. I cannot say enough about how great hamnavoe is. Especially when greeted by a cat outside the window in the morning

This is the perfect hostel. There is absolutely nothing anyone could complain about.

Lovely greeting by Gordon and his cute little dog. I was shown to my room and very much appreciated being asked if i had managed to eat any dinner yet and informed about breakfast the following day(i was also asked what time best suited me for breakfast which was nice!!!). Bed was very comfortable, use of a tv which was great and a fab little tea/coffee/snacks table. Breakfast the following day was continental (tea and coffee, toast, choice of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, cheese and pepperami). The lady serving breakfast, i didn't quite catch her name, was so very helpful and made sure i had everything i needed. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting John o Groats.

The owner is a lovely man, always sings to himself and in a good mood, it is contagious🙂 The room is simple but clean, comfy and warm. The shared bathroom is nice and the kitchen is very much stocked and really easy to prepare any meal. The location is great

lovely Continental breakfast to start you of in the morning. The bed was so comfortable and the room was nice and warm. I loved having the wee added extras, having a chocolate biscuits with my cuppa that was left and there was also fruit so thankyou for my lovely stay.

There nothing that I didn't like apart from the northern lights didn't show but I was stargazing and they were beautiful

The host is a friendly elderly gentleman, who looked after me well with plenty of useful advice (eating out, buses etc). In spite of the incorrect information on Booking.com about the breakfast, he offered me something for the morning.

During my stay, I learned that Hamnavoe means 'Safe Harbour'—and that’s exactly how it felt. The room was warm, spotless, and inviting, and Gordon is a truly kind and generous host. I felt right at home and would absolutely book again.

The location was ideal to be able to explore the area. The views from my room were great. Gordon is a perfect host and gave me ideas for places to visit during my stay. The little dog Ellie is adorable.

Shared bathroom but I was aware of this before my stay and it wasn’t at all bad.
