We had an issue with the physical key in the lock for our room, and the staff went above and beyond to help and make it right. I don’t consider this event a negative. It’s a charming older building (that is still updated) with these small hiccups. The staff were friendly, professional, and genuinely nice. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. I was disappointed I slept through the first days visit as I was recovering from jet lag.

This has NOTHING to do with the hotel, I just wish the sidewalk on the main road went to the little turnoff for the hotel. We were there for a wedding down the road, and while I felt safe walking at night (less cars), I felt like it was better to take the walk along the lake during the day to be away from the traffic. While beautiful it was a bit longer. Again, this was not an issue with the hotel, just something to keep in mind if you do not have transportation. We also took the train from Milan and that was a bit more challenging than I anticipated. I was not familiar with the routes or the stops. It would be helpful to coordinate a taxi ride with the hotel ahead of time to get from the station to the hotel.

The staff were all friendly, professional and very helpful, particularly at the front desk. The lakeside location is the highlight! We swam in the lake and the pool. There are kayaks, paddle boards and bikes to rent. (Also, a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room). The walking path along the lake is wonderful and it’s a lovely 10-15 minute stroll to several very good restaurants in Pettanasco. The breakfast buffet was fabulous. There is a beautiful dining room for dinner, and four-star restaurant was an unexpected bonus, as was the live music on Sunday nights.

This is a lovely hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, particularly Simone and Martina at the pool bar - they made us feel incredibly welcome and were a lot of fun. The location is phenomenal and I'm not sure it can be beaten! Great selection at breakfast, with excellent coffee, and all the food we had onsite was delicious. Our room was fine, but outdoors was so beautiful we were barely there anyway.

Stunning location overlooking the lake and mountain, our room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable. The hotel is definitely quite dated but kept quite clean so I didn’t find it to be too much of an issue. Personnel were very friendly and helpful! We didn’t use the swimming pool or any facilities so no comments on that.

It was not very pleasant to see cheap instant coffee in the room in a 4 star hotel in Italy. Food for breakfast was ok and not very varied, mostly from packed commercial stuff.

The Approdo is superbly located by the Cinderella lake, Lago D’Orta. Rooms are clean, comfortable, quiet and the staff very helpful. The Buffet breakfast catered for all nationalities with a great choice of food. Staff at the pool shack made an iced espresso that kept the energy levels up. Can’t fault this property.

Great leisure facilities with outdoor swimming pool and being right on the lake for easy access and rental of SUP and other things. Nice walk by the lake into the nearest town (15 minutes but take a torch). Breakfast buffet with lots of options. Restaurant looked nice but we didn't eat there. There are a few (maybe three?) places to eat in town but suggest you book. The external restaurant we went to (lake side of the main road) was OK but quite brisk service and charged us for mineral water we never received. Our room was big and the bathroom with shower was too.

There was no curtain/blind in the bathroom and even though it was fairly protected with the road and steep mountainside facing the bathroom it was a little uncomfortable. Breakfast was a little chaotic (because of number of guests). Might be good to ask people to pick a time slot in advance? Clearer signage to the lake pathway would be good. Lots of noise from people walking past in the corridor but maybe this is them being loud.

Fantastic open air 30m pool beside the lake - swim in either, an idyllic setting. Modern very spacious hotel, large veranda with lake view. Extensive breakfast buffet including all the barista coffee you can drink. Very clean, tightly run, staff very friendly and helpful. Plenty of free car parking on site. Municipal boat ferry calls at the hotel jetty.

There’s nothing to dislike about this hotel!

This is a really nice hotel in a very picturesque location and it is not so touristy as some of the other Italian lakes. Everything was superb and made for a lovely break on our road trip, unfortunately it was only 2 nights . I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Wish we had stayed longer.

We weren’t very impressed by the hotel restaurant which wasn’t good value for money and the food was bland, it’s rare not to have a good quality meal in Italy!

Location by the lake. Clean rooms.

Most of the hotel was spotless but the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed for days and had lots of dust, crumbs and hair on it. Didn’t see it cleaned in the almost 2 days we were there. Breakfast needed more staff on to cope with the busy spell.
