Room facilities very wrong. No tea and coffee making facilities etc These need to be corrected

This is an exceptional, family run hotel. Beautiful setting and worth getting a lake view if possible. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast on terrace with lovely views of the lake. Rooms are clean and spacious. There are lots of good restaurants in town which is only a ten minute stroll away. Also top class restaurant in hotel. Do take a boat to the little island in the lake and do the quiet pathway. The chapels on the Sacro Monte site are also well worth exploring.

If you come by train try to arrange a taxi to pick you up and take you to hotel.

We loved our stay at this lovely hotel. The staff were so helpful and car park very good. We walked to the historic centre easily every day sometimes 3 times! We could see the island from our balcony. We had a kettle, fridge and tea and coffee. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. View from dining/breakfast room stunning. It rained a lot but umbrellas were provided. We went to the Alessi outlet in Omegna and drove to Stresa in the rain to have a look at lake Maggiore. Bed was comfortable and lift a bonus. The palace in the old town is a great place to eat and the owner is so generous with tastes of liqueurs! I’ll put in a photo of the food!

Beautiful rooms, beautiful view ( if you book tje lake view). 5 mins in to town, down a few steps, many restaurants at your fingertips and we didn’t have trouble getting tables however we do eat a bit earlier - around 7. The staff go above and beyond. On our last day we were leaving early, the beautiful lady on reception ensured we had a breakfast early in the morning and organised a taxi for us to get to the station, you wouldn’t get that service anywhere else. Worth every penny, if a lovely relaxing holiday is what you’re looking for then just book!

LOVED EVERYTHING about the property, however if you are travelling, please look properly in to how you will get there and get home!

The hotel is beautifully located with fabulous views of Lago D'Orta. Lovely room with two balconies and breakfast choice really excellent. The majority of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Spotlessly clean. Well tendered gardens and good parking. We would stay there again.

We had a problem and were unhappy with the way it was dealt with and thought the response was simply unprofessional.

This is an authentic family run italian alpine hotel. Our room 314 was SUPERB with fantastic views of Lake Orta and the island from a good size balcony you could sit in private . The room was typical italian alpine - NOT contemporary. Fabulous size and really nice bathroom with jacuzzi bath for two and a separate shower. there was also a bidet. The staff were very friendly. We ate in the restaurant every night ( 3 night stay) and had the set daily menu (40 euros per person for 4 courses), the quality of the food and the presentation was outstanding. There is a lovely pool but we did not swim in it. It is a very shot walk, slightly downhill into the centre of Orta.

Should have stayed longer!

Hotel La Bussola is in a fabulous position on a hill above the small old town of Orta San Guilio. The views are spectacular across the lake and to the little island of Isola San Guilio (which you can visit by regular boat shuttles from the main piazza for €5 return). The staff at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming, and whilst the rooms are a little dated, everything you need is there, and the outlook and beautiful pool, make up for it. The buffet breakfast (with hot & cold options) and dinner are taken on a wonderful terrace overlooking the lake. There is also ample free parking within the hotel grounds. The old town is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Rooms are a little dated

This trip was my third stay in La Bussola which accounts for it not exceeding expectations. Originally I'm sure it did and that's why It's my "go to" hotel for Lago D'Orta. This was my first experience off-season, so I missed the pool, Terrace breakfasts and dinners with the sparrows and did find the waiters less friendly--but understandable. The slight disappointment would not deter me from going back even off-season. It's a lovely hotel, well-situated--near enough to il centro to make it extremely convenient and comfortable.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly before and throughout our stay. The food was to a high standard and served on a lovely terrace overlooking the lake. The position of the hotel, including ample car parking, was excellent.

The pool is lovely but although advertised as open from 10am, the first couple of hours were often taken up with cleaning etc. Although we recognise that most people preferred to use it in the afternoons, it would have been nicer to access it earlier in the very hot weather we enjoyed.

Lovely hotel (possibly slightly dated, but that was part of its charm!) with outstanding views and only a 10 minute walk to Lake Ora and the town centre. The staff were very accomodating and friendly with lots of advice. It is possible to have dinner on the terrace adjacent to the restaurant - we would recommend that - very goood food and superb views.

Nothing, it was a very nice stay and we would stay again if in the area.
