The rooms are not fully renovated as described on the hotel’s website, but they have been refreshed and are clean and comfortable. The property appears to be family-run, with clear effort made to provide a reasonable level of comfort within practical limits. The surroundings are pleasant, and a variety of amenities are available within a 5-minute drive to downtown Bayfield. The on-site restaurant is quite good, and I appreciate the effort to maintain quality despite fluctuating demand, ranging from busy long weekends to quieter weekdays.

Loved that we didn't have to rent separate rooms for our family of 5. The kids loved the loft part of the room and the fact that there was a sink up stairs meant they didn't have to come all the way down stairs to brush their teeth. All the staff we met were helpful and friendly!!! They all get a 10!!

The play structure didn't seem strong enough for my 8 and 10 yr old. It would have been nice to have something they could play on as well. The coffee maker in the room was good if you only like coffee. I would have liked to see a kettle to make tea as well. The one other thing was we came back very late one night and the sign for the hotel wasn't lit and we drove past the hotel.

My friend and I booked here for a single night on a motorcycle tour of the coast of Lake Huron as we heard Bayfield was one of the prettiest small towns. We were disappointed in the straight and boring route from Sauble Beach to Bayfield (mostly Highway 21) as there were no views of the lake. There was also a thick, heavy, misty fog (possibly some smoke?) that completely blocked our view of any possible sunset over the water once we got to Bayfield... but I digress. These things had no impact on our stay at The Ashwood Inn. Check in was a breeze!! Loved the location of our room and ease of entry, that the doors were already unlocked and that they had both inside and outside access. ♿ This was AMAZING for unloading and loading our motorcycles!! Even though this hotel is older, it's fairly well kept. The room was clean and spacious, loved that there was a COLD mini fridge w/ freezer and microwave in our room. Decent size table and chairs, a large dresser, a huge closet and a luggage rack gave us TONS of space to spread out our gear. We did find the beds quite hard, but the pillow choices were decent.. I loved the beautiful red Muskoka chairs (so comfortable!!) and the provided ashtrays outside. Happy with the quality of the bedding and the 2 extra blankets in our room as the bedding was quite damp feeling, likely from the air conditioning. A dehumidifier setting might be available on the climate control panel, but I didn't see one.. We just turned the heat on for a bit to help dry the room out a little. I do wish I'd have read my text message (or had future knowledge) about the option to have a hot meal waiting in our room upon arrival, as we were late getting in and too exhausted to go into town so we missed dinner... either way, that is such a great service to offer!! Actually, the text updates and information were very thorough and greatly appreciated!! (Oh, how I despise email now!

The location is great, right next to the lake, 5 min from the village which is absolutly wonderfull. THe hotel is clean and the family suit we had was really above our expectations! Service is mostly by text message and very efficient. We have had a small issue with something not working in our room, after the office closed, in 5 min someone was there to help us. Each time we had contact with someone it was friendly and professional. The environment was very quiet and we found the beding descent.

Clean and basic place to stay when visiting the Bayfield area. Have stayed previously, so we liked it well enought to return as it is good value for the area. We liked the fact that our room could accomodate three people very comfortably (we had a loft room with three queen beds). Nice trail behind the hotel for a quick morning walk. Beds and pillows were comfortable. A five minute drive from the centre of town in Bayfield (could be walkable if you're up for a short hike).

Clean, safe, and good location.

At 2am Saturday night, a loud boom woke me up, and then very loud, constant noise continued. I got up to investigate. Right outside my room, there was a big, white box (Generator?) making the noise. On until 6am. Very disruptive to sleep. And then at 8 am Sunday morning, the staff began leaf blowing. Avoid rooms near check in.

Nothing everything was good . The people were excellent and very warm . They gave us an early check in and they gave us any late checkout

Location was perfect. Quiet at this time of year and within an easy, few minute drive to Bayfield and a short drive to Goderich. The beds and pillows were comfy. Added bottled water was a plus. Also a microwave, small fridge and coffee was available to use. Contactless check-in was easy and hosts were friendly and provided great communication.

The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. The unique room layout is excellent for a family (main bed downstairs and loft area above for kids), especially teens who want some privacy. Beds are so comfortable even our kid who is an early riser slept in and said it was because of this. The whole place is kept very clean. The restaurant food is delicious! The pool and sauna are wonderful. He wooded area behind the hotel has lovely walking trails and a delightful wedding venue. Last time we loved having s'mores at the fire pit, but this time the weather got in the way. This was our second visit and we will be back, for sure.

Pool was supposed to be open from 8am but at 8.45am was still closed. I suspect this was because everyone was checking out after a long weekend and they assumed no-one would use it, but I was looking forward to a morning swim before departure. Not a huge deal though.

Pool had a cover so had to call to have it removed … and no staff at front desk … Tv diffucult to figure out turning on etc . No one at front desk to ask
