The early morning game drives were the best. Knowledgable ranger, a plethora of animals. We had ponchos and blankets in our vehicle. I love how the people in vehicles bond over this shared experience. The Boma supper, buffet meals and well planned couples massage are just some of the reasons we booked again.

Front reception staff could be more welcoming on arrival.

The facilities are amazing, modern bush, combined with luxury without being over the top. Dinner is served in The Boma on the one night, this is an incredible experience with fire pits, open skies and comfortable dining area. The restaurant with outside patio is the eating area for breakfast, lunch and dinner not in the boma. A vast variety of foods for most eaters, allergens are listed on the food labels. A smorgas board of food options, something for everybody, buffet style. The staff are very pleasant and efficient at clearing plates from the table. 2 game drivers per day are included in the package, the Guides are very knowledgeable and keep in constant comms with each to share sightings. Sundowners are set up on the afternoon drive with drinks and local snacks, morning coffee & hot chocolate with snacks are set up with the morning drive. A very nice touch.

The current road works between Bela Bela and Mabula Game Lodge, which has nothing to do with the lodge. The stop and go added on 30 mins to our travel time and other guests had an extra 2 hour travel time. Just noted here to alert travellers to factor in extra time. The road works should be completed by August 2026

Food was super good! The reception with the apple pie tea was special. Staff very friendly.

The room did not look like the photos I received on Booking.com I expected a veranda and a larger room... The aircon did not work properly. The toilet is loose in the floor. Saturday afternoon a cleaner just opened the door while we were sleeping... not acceptable! Sunday morning when we returned from the game drive at 9:00, there were already 2 black refuse bags on our chairs outside. My husband had to remove it in order to sit outside... made us feel unwelcome... check out is at 10:00, why leave the refuse bags on our stoep? Very unprofessional.

I think I can probably write a whole thesis of how great this place is. Had the best time there and was treated like a royalty without exaggeration. Everything is so well organised. Had amazing safari experience with super knowledgeable driver - definitely an experience I won’t forget. The place is so well maintained, close to nature- it’s like a retreat. The food was beyond amazing - everything was delicious and the staff was paying attention to the smallest details. We had to depart super early in the morning to catch a flight to Zimbabwe and the receptionist was so lovely to pack us breakfast for the road. The staff will go above and beyond to make you comfortable and make sure you have everything that you need. I’m amazed,I’ll definitely be coming back and for longer period . Perfection is not even doing justice to the place and the staff.

We liked everything. The staff was so friendly and helpful! The rooms were spotless. The Lodge was very well organized. The game drives were spectacular!!! Our guide Moneya was so knowledgeable and a tracking sleuth. We learned so much about the animals, the environment, SA conservation, plant life, bird life, and preservation of endangered animals. We cannot wait to return.

Nothing.

Beautiful & tranquil location. The suite we stayed in was amazing. The breakfast and lunch offerings were delicious. The best part of my stay was the spa. The treatments were amazing and reasonably priced. We also enjoyed seeing some animals while driving the quad bikes.

The supper offering could have been better. The service during the first night was very slow, it seems as if they were short staffed. It rained during our stay and it was disappointing that they did not even have golf carts that could assist us moving from our suite to the dining lounge. So we had to walk in the rain and did not enjoy that experience.

The lodge was exactly as the pictures, the staff was exceptional. Special shout out to Salamina at reception for her warm welcome, Joseph and James at the bar and of course Job our ranger. Job was honestly very warm and knowledgeable of almost every animal and bird we came across, had to google a time or two and he was spot on! Will come back.

We paid all board which covered for all the meals on the days we were at the lodge, but we received a surprise R850 charge for the new year's eve dinner that was not even communicated to the residents. The was no written communication or announcement at reception, just a charge at reception. Poor management on that part as it left most guests disgruntled and helpless as the reception staff were only doing what they were told.

Place was very lovely. Would definitely go back with the kids next time because they have facilities to keep them entertained. Food was beyond expectations, the service was really great from all the staff members, and the sunset game drives were epic!

The rooms are quite close to each other and because the roof is thatched you could hear if people were speaking in the adjacent rooms. We didn't have a problem, but because we're loud we had to be conscious not to distrub the neighbours.

The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making my stay even more enjoyable. Every aspect, from the amenities to the location, was thoughtfully designed to ensure comfort and convenience. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a perfect getaway. I can’t wait to return.
