This is a great peaceful place a few km outside Cat Ba, away from the noise of the town. The environment is very beautiful, immersed in the nature and close to the mountain. The bungalow is very large and clean. The family is extremely helpful and does everything to make you feel at ease. We ate there every night and the food was very good. Thanks a lot for the herbal foot bath we were offered every evening!! We recommend the boat tour they propose, it was really the highlight of the journey in Cat Ba. To move around you need a scooter that we rented directly at the homestay. We definitely recommend to stay at Trang Chau.

This has been my favourite place to stay in Vietnam so far! 😍 It’s a beautiful homestay run by the most amazing family. They are so helpful and kind. The little bungalows are simple and spacious with comfortable beds, hot water showers and a kettle / tea making station. The little pool outside is a lifesaver on a hot day. The free breakfasts each morning have great variety (although I ordered banana or mango pancakes every day 😂) and there’s water refill in the restaurant too. It’s genuinely a little oasis, and it was such a delight coming home every day! I just rented a scooter and took that everywhere which was easy, and to be honest - once I had been in Cat Ba town once, that was enough! The coconut ice cream in town was great, but my favourite part of the island was actually driving the inland road through the middle of the island. Our homestay host recommended it, and we found so many little gems and beautiful places to explore (including the National Park) The homestay family go above and beyond, and even made us herbal foot baths one night. We were sad to leave!

This homestay was in a quiet, peaceful location on Cat Ba (you take a ferry or speedboat from Got Pier to Cai Vieng Pier then taxi to Tran Chau). It was a short taxi to wherever you needed to go! We had a 'Bungalow with Garden View' for us and our 2 teens - our room was a great size with 2 king beds. The room and bathroom were clean and a great size! Breakfast choice was v simple, but all you need! Great smoothies and juices! The pool is quite small, but great to cool off in if needed. We loved our stay here and Tuyen was amazing at organising everything for us in his cool, calm manner! Nothing is a stress or problem. We changed our minds a bit on things last minute and he sorted it with no worries or problems! We booked a Bioluminescence Plankton boat tour with him and multiple taxis - just be prepared to wait a bit for them or book them ahead of when you need to go! We also decided to book a 'private boat' to cruise Lan Ha & Ha Long Bay ourselves - we didn't want to be on a cruise or tour with other people as we wanted flexibility - we literally spent 4 hours on a v small traditional Vietnamese fishing boat with a fabulous 'Captain' who spoke no English....it was one of the highlights of our trip!!! My son and I hiked Ngu Lam which was amazing - v v hot, but amazing! We loved the foot spa in the evening at Tran Chau too - than you for an incredible 3 days, we loved it!!!

The rooms are housed in small bungalows and are located in a very lovingly designed garden. Our room was clean and the size was okay. There was even storage space. Air conditioning and fan worked well. The food in the associated restaurant was very good and the prices for it were also very okay. We also made a night trip by kayak to see the bioluminescent plankton. It was great. The breakfast was also very good and the evening herbal foot baths for which you can sign up are highly recommended. All the staff were very friendly and made us feel absolutely welcome. The best thing was that the facility is outside the city and thus far away from karaoke bars and the street noise. Very suitable for people who like to enjoy peace and quiet.

Unfortunately, during our stay there were also a group of people in the complex, who listened to very loud music in the evening and were not particularly considerate in other respects. We were lucky that this group only stayed one night, so the rest of our stay was very relaxing.

The homestay is situated on a quiet street a short drive from the main town, against a serene backdrop of jungle/karst formations. The individual bungalows are set in beautifully maintained gardens around a small swimming pool. Our bungalow was clean and well equipped with a comfortable bed, private bathroom with hot shower & AC unit. The owners were very welcoming and we ate several times at the homestay as well as enjoying the free breakfast. We also rented a scooter which was in decent condition for a reasonable price. We were pleasantly surprised to be offered a free herbal foot bath which was very welcome after a long hike in the national park. Very happy we stayed here over the main town, which is currently under construction.

Place is very peaceful and far from the city centre, but because of that the only sounds you can hear is nature. If someone like to walk a lot it is possibile to go to city on foot (but it is quite a big distance along the road), as an alternative owner can call a taxi for you. They care a lot about their guests. There is a restaurant where breakfast is served, but you can buy there lunch/dinner as well. Food and drinks are delicious and cheap. Whole day cruise to Lan Ha Bay we booked through hotel was amazing and well organized, they picked us up and dropped off in the hotel. They offer free of charge tea foot bath in evenings.

Air conditioner was quite loud, so we had to sleep without it running.

This was our favourite homestay since being in Vietnam. Tuyen and Ni were perfect hosts and made our time so special. They went above and beyond helping us plan/ book our activities. The food is also delicious! The area is nice if you want a more remote stay away from Cat Ba town. But it's still really easy to get around via bike, Mototaxi, taxi, buses etc. Would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves returning to Cat Ba :) Another absolute bonus was the foot spa offered every evening- such a nice way to end the day especially after a long hike in the national park. They also have some pet dogs/cats and there was a newborn puppy during our stay who was very well looked after. The only criticism would be that the beds are quite firm and not that comfortable- but given how great the place is otherwise we didn't mind! Thankyou so much Tuyen and Ni!

We loved the wonderful hospitality including tea upon arrival and hot foot baths in the evenings.The staff was also extremely helpful in booking our transfers and day trips. We loved the mountain views and quiet setting. It was convenient to have a restaurant on site and the prices were very reasonable.

It was not the easiest to get around to the sites on days we hadn't booked tours. The local bus does pass nearby to bring you into the center but the schedule is not that reliable. Taxis on the island are more expensive and Grab does not work. Be prepared for some noise overnight (especially roosters and frogs). On cold nights in the winter there is no heating in the room, however, we were given a thicker comforter blanket for the bed.

The garden home is very beautiful, a little oasis. I regret booking further accommodation otherwise I would have staid longer. The owner Tuyen helped also with anything we needed. He booked our travel from Hanoi and it was the best bus company we have yet used. He also helped us book a boat trip, which exceeded expectations. Trust his recommendations! The food was so delicious, some of the best food I’ve had yet in Vietnam, and the price was so good. Everything is priced very fairly from food to renting a scooter. I would love to stay here again.

The bed was a little uncomfortable.

Perfect location about 8min drive from Cat Ba town, away from all the construction sites. Very peaceful. It's possible to rent a scooter or a bike at the homestay to get around. Very tasty breakfast, best banana pancakes we had in Vietnam :) Comfy and clean bungalow with a small porch. There's also a small pool with clean water. We loved the complimentary herbal foot bath in the evening. Very friendly owners who make you feel like home and try their best to help you with the oranization. We booked a Lan Ha bay daytrip with them and loved it - no crowds, no self centered selfie maniacs, great guide. We also bought bus tickets for our onward travel to Hanoi directly from the homestay and the bus picked us up there, so no need to worry about the transport to Cat Ba town. We loved our stay so much that we extended it for an additional night.
