This was a fantastic boutique hotel with stunning views over the Port of Valparaiso, The rooms were beautifully furnished with antiques from the heyday of Valparaiso in the late 19th century. The public areas were spacious and again atmospherically decorated and furnished in period style and there was a large balcony to relax on and enjoy the view. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and arranged a safe parking place for us. Breakfast was served for our small party in a lovely dining room. This was undoubtedly the 'find' of our trip to Chile and is a hidden treasure of Valparaiso!

I loved to stay at this place. Karim, Pablo and the rest of the personal were professional, friendly and helped me with everything I needed. The hotel is set in a typical victorian mansion from Valparaiso and it's located in the heart of the historical district. It has breathtaking views to the sea and the cerro from the rooms, terraces, and patios. There are a lot o common spaces indoor and outdoor were you can have your breakfast, work, or chill out. The coziness of the place makes it perfect for digital nomads, artists, or couples looking for an inspiring place. The breakfast is home made and delicious and you can enjoy an expresso or a cup of tea at any time when you stay for working while enjoying the bests views of Valparaiso. Another this that is important if you are visiting Valparaiso in winter is that the hotel has central heating.

Lovely hotel - excellent location, rooms well equipped, comfy beds, friendly helpful staff, great breakfasts. We had 2 rooms - a mountain view and a sea facing suite. The suite was fantastic with a large veranda overlooking the bay (best views). The mountain facing room was a bit smaller but also excellent. Close to attractions and area safe. Would definitely recommend.

Would have preferred a kettle / making facility and fridge in the room - needed to go to communal area. But that is a minor issue and overall our stay was amazing!

I almost stayed at another hotel, but so glad i booked Alcontraluz. I believe the space is two houses combined, and is a lovely refuge with lots of welcoming and tastefully decorated spaces to sit and enjoy a bit of peace. I had a room with a great view of the street and mountains, then across the hall was a terrace with beautiful view of the ocean and city. Win-win! Great location with restaurants, shops, cafés all close by, and of course, all the street art the city is famous for. *Very*comfortable bed and pillows to sink into. Best i experienced during my whole time in Chile. Water/tea/coffee available all day, breakfast served until noon! Karin was very friendly, with great recommendations for restaurants in the area. Pablo treated us to a moment of generosity and conversation that was really special. There was another woman in the evenings who was nice too. Thank you all for your professionalism and understanding of hospitality!

I wish there had been a TV in the bedroom, but there is a sitting room on the main floor that has one. Everything was mostly clean, but found a couple of neglected areas.

We went with friends to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. I spoke to Karin about organizing some things for the big day. She was very clear and professional. Everything when perfect. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The view was amazing, really good breakfast and the location was great.

1. We only had one bin and that bin was used in the bathroom for toilet. It would have been really nice if we were in the room. 2. There is no internet/WiFi connection in the room. We had to go outside the room.

Excellent location walking distance to everywhere. Sea view room cost a bit more but worth having if staying several nights. Lots of common seating area on every level. Good breakfast with eggs made to order. Quiet except for neighbor's dog loudly barking all day long (thankfully stops at night).

A few thing s in the room don't work right. Bed a bit too soft, neither bedside lamps work, toilet keeps running - easy to fix but almost have to check it every time.

It was a fantastic location in a lovely old period building which has much charm. Would not have wanted to stay anywhere else! Felt very secure in this hotel in a city which has areas of extreme poverty. The staff were very helpful, welcoming, smiling.

There were very minor issues where some easy maintenance is required (steel security bar in bath had been torn from wall, curtain over glass entrance door hangs badly, needs adjustment).

Such a fabulous place to stay!! The staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful and the location is perfect. It’s really near loads of great streets to see street art and pop up galleries and brill places to eat. The room was really big and had a sunny terrace (morning sun) overlooking the water. It was also great at night seeing all the twinkly lights. Despite its great location, it was super quiet and if we didn’t set our alarms we would have slept in. The breakfast is excellent and healthy. Eggs, fruits, yoghurts, breads, cereals - sounds very standard but it was much better than that! And you can either eat inside or on the terrace overlooking the water, under a parasol. Loved it. Also, the staff are so lovely- we arrived early and we could store our bags in a secure room to wander about before checking into our room which was great. Rooms have a safe too. Highly recommend

It was a lovely boutique hotel (a converted old three-story home), with wonderful staff, and a tremendous view of the sea from the third floor terrace. The breakfast was varied, delicious and well presented. The location was in an interesting area of Valparaiso. I would definitely stay here again.

I parked on the street in front of the hotel and was provided with information of a parking lot two blocks away. I took my chance and it worked well for me to park on the street. While having a designated parking spot next to the hotel would be great, I don't see any other alternative except parking on the street as I did or the parking lot a little distance from the hotel.

Beautiful old house with amazing view of the town. The staff is super friendly and will try to help with your every request. Breakfast is toasts, egg and sin spreads. Coffe and water all day. The beds are very comfortable. Nice placement, walking distance to restaurants

Its the price to pay for such a old lovely building but its not very sound proof. Wish the bathrooms had vents and some place to put the hand soap.
