We stayed at Paraiso Guest House for 2 nights. It was such a good choice. It is around a 5 minute tuk-tuk ride, or a 10 minute walk from the main street in Ella. The walk is indeed along the railway track, but trains are few and you'd hear them a mile off! We wouldn't really fancy the walk in the dark due to the uneven surfaces. If you can, absolutely go for the king room with mountain view and balcony. The views are just stunning! The balcony is private and has seating and a table. Just sitting there with a cup of tea (or a nice cold beer (available)) was just a dream. A bit like a jungle lodge, listening to the surrounding wildlife. The photos on Booking.com are real. The owner and his family live on site. They are lovely. He arranged for us a day trip by tuk-tuk (by his uncle?) and we saw all of the 'must see' places: 9-arch bridge, tea plantation/factory (a real one!), buddhist meditation temple, various viewpoints. The owner also gave us a celebratory cake as it was our wedding anniversary and arranged a cookery class with Matey Hut (a small restaurant on the main street. Does the best rice and curry ) recommend that! Bed was large and comfortable. Walk in shower room was modern and efficient. Breakfast was European one day, with fruit, egg, toast etc. The 2nd similar, but with hoppers/egg hoppers. Very tasty. He also arranged transportation to our next hotel upon our departure. We enjoyed our stay a great deal. It is worth staying for the views/surroundings alone but it is certainly close enough to the main street (where we dined each evening). The family was friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable. But the views....Wow!

This was probably our favourite place we stayed at on our three week tour of Sri Lanka! Great views, great room size. Very functional with regards a fridge, plenty of wall sockets for charging phones etc . Complimentary water. Great shower. The breakfast was delicious and set up with view. The selection of food and the taste was really special, especially the wee sweet coconut pancake rolls! Having said all that - even better was the family who own/run the place - they are all so warm and friendly - helpful with local knowledge and directions. Great english speakers. They can give you a shortcut to the main 'town' area that makes it an easy walk. I cant speak highly enough about this place.

- great location close to Ella town (10 mins walk along the train tracks) but far enough away that it was much quieter - the first breakfast so delicious! - laundry service was reasonable - beds were comfortable, rooms were clean and the staff were all welcoming and professional - they helped to arrange transportation multiple times, which was extremely helpful! - they had hand and foot towels! This seems to be rare in Sri Lanka

- the downstairs bedrooms have glass doors. The lights left on in the family bedroom were so bright! I kept being woken up when my eye mask would fall off. Small curtains to cover the glass would be so helpful - the hotel could be noisy. While the location was very quiet at night (trains only pass around 1x hour during the day), you could hear people walking around and sometimes dogs barking at night. Every noise echoed in the hotel, making it easy to hear everything

Great location, about 5 min drive into the main town and street. From the outside pulling up to the guest house, it doesn’t look like much, it’s up on a hill & it seems they are doing some renovations or expanding up top on the upper half on the building . But we had the room with the tub inside and the room was pretty much like a mini apartment, very big size. There was a little kitchenette and a huge bathroom with shower and tub and also a big balcony with an incredible view of the mountains. The family that runs the guest house is extremely nice and helpful. Nice breakfast in the morning with a view. A little pricey for the area I believe from what I’ve heard after, but I think it is worth it for the amazing view and nice room. At night the whole sky was filled with stars!! :)

10/10 recommend this property! The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable and the views were beautiful! Dhana and everyone else at the property were friendly and helpful. We arranged an airport pick up and a Yala safari transfer to Mirissa with Dhana. This made our travels so easy and would definitely recommend. We rented a scooter as well and he made everything very simple for us answering all our questions and giving great recommendations.Amazing hospitality! The internet was also strong and quick. If you’re looking for a fantastic place to stay you just found it!

I loved having floor to ceiling glass door and wall, directly looking at sunrise. This is probably the only place that I have ever stayed in where I could watch sunrise in bed. And that view! I could never get tired of it. The bed was comfortable, and the place was clean.

The decor was a bit tired, and the bathroom felt basic (although the shower worked perfectly well). In general, the corridor and communal areas are a bit shabby. However, as soon as I entered the room I felt in love with the view and my private little terrace.

Beautiful location, a pleasant walk in to the town and a great starting point for Ella Rock. It's super quiet at night and the sunrise and morning sounds were amazing, even better that you can watch it from bed! The room was very clean, the hosts were fab, super helpful and the breakfast delicious!!

Only very minor things - the room could do with a lick of paint, and despite the air con working well it looked pretty tired. For the money everything was very good, still worth the 10/10 score 😄

The view at Paraiso is incredible. The walk was very good from guest house to Ella on the train line. The hosts and staff are very kind and helpful. Breakfast was great and different. just one night not enough to enjoy the view. surely we'll come next time to Paraiso again....

when room lights turn on with open balcony door in night time some small fly Insect coming to room, This is not bad thing but that is nature. keep mind that close the door when rainy days but not every days.

The view from the king room was absolutely incredible. There was a shortcut walk to town on the train tracks approx 10-12 mins, very easy to do and quite flat, or you could get a tuk tuk for around 500. The breakfast included each day was very much appreciated and the hospitality was very kind. I also recommend taking a room with aircon (king room) because it still is a bit hot in Ella so this was another bonus of this property!!

We stayed in Ella for 3 nights. This was our best accommodation of our whole vacation in Sri Lanka yet. Dhana and his wife were the best host we’ve had, he is willing to do everything for you. He made the room up nice as a surprise for my girlfriend. It has the most beautiful view high up in the mountains and within 15 minutes walk across the railway you’re in the center. Dhana also recommended us to go to the ‘Diyaluma falls’ (we’ve never heard of it), but this was one of the fun things we did in Ella. Dhana arranged everything; our ride and a personal guide (who was really friendly). I really recommend booking this when you’re in Ella!

There is nothing we didn’t like. We would have loved to stay here longer :)
