What an experience to stay in an actual castle in Scotland 😁. Beautiful place and gardens. Food was delicious

I still don't understand why people have to bring their f#@+ing dogs?????? Sitting in the bar having a nice drink before dinner and surrounded by dogs 🤬. There is a lot of people who don't actually like dogs! Is there no health regulations in the UK because there is in Australia? I couldn't stay for after dinner drinks because there was no room left for humans. 🤬. By the way the dogs also sleep in the rooms. 😳

The setting was a true getaway from work, and the staff was wonderful. I will never make fun of Scottish food again. It was delicious. Please send my compliments to the chef. Every alluring dish presentation made me want to share it with my wife so I could take a bite of hers. We had the most charming experience. The grounds offered beautiful views while hiking. Loch Fyne was crystal clear and accessible. And, the weather was perfect for springtime weather. The locals insisted this was highly unusual. Steve Ludwick

This is a comfortable hotel with a warm welcome and friendly, approachable staff. The restaurant offers good views of Loch Fyne and the surrounding countryside, which can be enjoyed while dining on the deliciously Scottish food on offer. There are 3 public rooms where you can relax for a while, along with a library and a well-stocked bar. The food is to a high standard. There's also a children's menu. There is a good selection of drinks on offer. The breakfast is also good with plenty on offer as a buffet and a cooked breakfast made fresh for every guest, served with a smile. Our sea room was satisfactory, with plenty of storage space for hanging clothes or using the drawers. A point of note is that the room could benefit from a refresh. However, the toilet and bathing room were to a good standard The grounds around the hotel offer short walks to the seashore. We plan to stay here again with more car club friends.

A point of note is that the bedroom could benefit from a refresh. A very minor item; no Guinness in the bar even though there is a Guinness dispenser on display.

The staff were lovely and very welcoming. At breakfast, the bacon and black pudding was delicious. Overall the hotel is comfortable and welcoming. It has a lot of old world charm.

We had booked for dinner, bed & breakfast and whilst we were informed about £30 evening meal allowance per adult, we weren't told about the 15 minute slots alloted for meal times. When we arrived, most of these had been already taken, which didn't make for a very relaxing stay. We felt very sorry for the guests in Room 1, which is next door to the boiler. They did not sleep well due to the noise of the boiler and water pipes. Perhaps that room should not be used for guests.

The castle (a large manor house actually) is in an amazingly beautiful location, right on loch Fyne, with acres and acres of woods and gardens. There are small beaches where you can skip rocks or dare to feel the frosty water but for the most part just looking out the window or sitting on the patio and enjoying the view is enough. The bedrooms and bathrooms are fairly large and exceptionally clean. There are many places in the house to relax, read a book, just look out the window or enjoy a class of wine. The bar and bartender were excellent. We felt very well cared for there. The dining room is gorgeous with those amazing views. The menu is small but very creative and the food is exceptionally fresh. I would return here tomorrow or anytime.

Unsalted butter.

Stonefield Castle, built in 1837, is a beautifully preserved historic residence turned hotel. Just a few minutes from Tarbert and about 10 minutes from Kennacraig Ferry Terminal (gateway to the Hebrides, including Islay), it offers stunning views over the bay. We stayed in Room 30 – spacious, comfortable, with a modern bathroom and a cozy bay window overlooking the water. The historic interiors, with original antiques, create a very special atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent, with freshly prepared regional dishes and spectacular views from the glass-fronted restaurant. Breakfast combined a small buffet with cooked-to-order local specialties. A perfect place to relax in a historic setting – and an ideal stop before heading to the islands!

Beatiful spot and the sun shone... Most of your staff very helpful and pleasant... Just the one waiter at dinner on the Monday evening seemed a bit full of himself, and condescending to us, to be honest. Dinner was delicious though!

Driving up to Hotel from the ferry at Tarbet... Missed the turning twice.... Could do with a sign indicating Stonefield, particularly when it sits so far back frim the road. P. S. Dont ask Alex for an alarm call, as he forgot....

The property and grounds were beautiful. This is somewhere you could step away from the noise of the outside world and properly relax and rejuvenate. Our stay wasn't long enough to property explore the grounds or eat here, but what we saw means we will be returning next time.e we are in Scotland.

We needed more time.. this accommodation was chosen since it was close to the Ferry. So we arrived at around 8PM, left 5AM the next morning. This was a wasted opportunity since we couldn't fully enjoy the grounda or facilities. We will be coming back

We came off the late ferry from Islay on a work trip, so only had one night at the Stonefield Castle Hotel before travelling onward. I wish we could have stayed longer as it is a beautiful hotel in a fabulous setting. Our room was very comfortable with a fabulous view over Loch Fyne. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious, with plenty of options. Staff very helpful and friendly. Brilliant value for money.

We missed the turning in the dark as not very well signposted coming up from the south. Apparently the sign got knocked over in an accident. Need to fix it.

Stunning property in a great location with beautiful views. Staff extremely pleasant and very helpful. Beautiful interior Christmas decorations. Even though my wife had celebrated her 60th birthday the previous day, the receptionist upgraded our chosen room to a suite at no extra charge as a surprise for her.

The only disappointment was breakfast which had been overcooked. After raising this issue with the waiter and then the receptionist at check out the cost of the two breakfasts was reimbursed without hesitation. Despite this we would not hesitate to return to stay again at the property as our overall experience was amazing.
