Location to Ferry. Large towel was helpful.

Very small room, no hairdryer. A biscuit with tea would be nice.

Breakfast was okay but I/we've experienced better in other independent and national chain hotels. Dinner likewise. Staff were excellent. Very friendly & helpful.

Appears a tad tired in places & would benefit from some investment in upgrading/decoration. Spider webs on ceilings indicate a lack of attention. Shower was hit or miss...becoming cold both mornings, or taking a long time to heat, then go cold. Downstairs bar: having purchased a couple of drinks to sit outside in the excellent weather, I went in to get more only to be shown the bar tenders watch (6pm exactly) & told he couldn't serve as it was...6pm!!! A bit pedantic considering it was 6pm on the dot (on his watch). Flexibility & common sense is required here! A very old building that's now showing its age & lack of investment. Pity, because it's ideally positioned - though free parking in the adjacent public car park is a lottery & very limited.

Ideal location, middle of town centre. Clean and tidy. Good meals, standard hotel meals, with a choice of restaurants even an italian. Dirty linen was taken away and clean towels brought next day.

In tower room of hotel, due to weather was a bit too warm. Had to open windows, but due to music festival, quite noisy from hotel area outside eg picnic tables / sitting area. Only one key was supplied so if one person decides to go to hotel room, the other had to wait until the other came back. Rickety lift.

Nice enough room which was clean and well presented. Staff brilliant especially "sudsie" the pot washer who was a load of fun and John at reception who also was a laugh a minute.. I hate stuffed penguin types of staff and these guys made my day. If I have one small problem it's the water temp..... Ran a bath but it was only tepid. Shower in morning also a tad chilly. Food good and quick and efficient service. All in all we enjoyed our stay here.

As said, the hot water was not hot and as I suffer from the cold it kinda put a downer on my stay...

Based myself here for 2 nights whilst walking the Cowal Way. Prices for hotels en route were unaffordable for a solo walker. Great location 5 minutes from the pier for ferries and buses. Single room was warm, had hot drinks and a TV. Ensuite small but functional Very reasonable price for a single walker. I don't normally eat at hotel restaurants but after the first night, decided it was so good value that I would eat there the second night. Italian/Spanish menu - good sized tasty portios at a very reasonable price.

Lift was very slow but that's a minor dislike

I asked for a room with a river/sea view and the room I was given was exceptional from this point of view. It was on the 2nd floor and on the front corner of the building, with excellent river/sea views in both directions.

Apart from the stunning views, the room itself, along with much of the hotel, is rather jaded and well past its prime. The mattress was sagging, mould was beginning to appear on the bathroom ceiling (I'm used to that but other people would not be happy), the carpet was worn, the lift creaked ominously. The restaurant is very small and the food is just adequate - not what I would expect from the premium hotel in town.

I had occasion to stay in Argyll hotel on 24th December and 31st December 2022. The building is architecturally pleasing. I was delighted on both occasions to find that the heaters were already on in the rooms, and the rooms lovely and warm. Everything was sparkling clean. The shower had very good water pressure. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I had dinner in the restaurant both times and the food was tasty. I ate breakfast there on one of the stays, and the full cooked breakfast was very good. This is a boutique style hotel, in a historic building. The price was very reasonable. Don't expect five-star levels of amenity - you'd pay several times as much for that. There is free WIFI for internet and it was rock solid (I had a little trouble connecting, but that is the fault of my new laptop, not the hotel's WiFi). I had a comfortable stay which met my needs perfectly, staff were nice, and I'd happily stay there again.

On my second overnight stay, Room 119 had only one hanger in the little wardrobe. This was not a serious inconvenience, however!

Location is really good, right in the heart of Dunoon. We had dinner in the restaurant and everyone’s meals were nice. Room was clean and quite big. Nice outdoor seated area to have drinks/food. Staff were all friendly. Only negative was it took ages to be served in the restaurant, waited about 30mins from when we ordered our drinks and food was about 45 minutes. Overall we enjoyed our stay and I think with a few small changes it could be a really nice well run hotel

Staff were very welcoming and let us have early check in which was much appreciated. Room has an amazing view in two directions of beautiful scenery. Bed was comfy, pillows soft, excellent provision of tea, biscuits and bathroom soaps etc. Bar was well priced too and such a great location for exploring the area with a bus stop just outside, ferry across the road and taxi firm not far away.

The bathroom light did that painful kind of extreme flicker to get on, that means going to the bathroom in the middle of the night does wake you up a lot. Have to consider the age of the property though in which case the light is completely normal.

The location of the hotel is great right in the centre, plus there is parking for motorbikes just outside the main door. The guy on receiption was very helpful and a very pleasent to deal with and helful. Good sandwhich shop over the road.

Breakfast was way too pricey and heard it wasn't great or worth the money so glad we didn't pay for it. The drinks in the bar are a little pricey, lower them and people will stay in instead of going round town.
