Very good value for money. Great location. Fully refurbished exceptionally good single room.

Difficult to find the iMap location is wrong. Some simple directions are needed.

We were attending a Submariners Association memorial weekend ( Friday to Sunday), as a group. The hotel and staff are lovely, what a beautiful area, I loved the sea view.

Although it was a lovely room ( sea view), the wash basin hot water was erratic, not much sometimes. Also we couldn't work out the shower, but managed to get a bath. We did mention this to a staff member. Others in our party mentioned about lovely musical entertainment on Saturday night , In previous years. But sadly the entertainment was not enjoyable . Everything else , room, meals, location and the staff was great.

Breakfast was a very full - and vegetarian, as I had asked. Cheerful, chatty waitress. I could take coffee out to lovely garden with good wood furniture and sea view. Also good to have lift to room on 2nd floor. I discovered there are local buses (being 80+ years, free bus travel) from the depot near ferry terminal from mainland, both very close to the hotel.

Another guest told me about the excellent deals (e.g. DBB 2 or 3 nights) they have, so I was disappointed not to have been offered those. I would definitely go back if I could use these (only during certain months and unfortunately single supplement).

When we arrived on the Saturday we booked breakfast for two mornings, also we asked if we could have dinner that evening, we were told no there was no evening dinner on the Saturday so asked if we could book for Sunday. Yes we were told so booked a table for 7o'clock Sunday evening. My partner went at 6 o'clock on Sunday to see if she could look at a menu and was told there would be no evening dinner but they could order us food to be delivered. We told them no we didn't want a carry out, they then proceeded to give us a phone number for their sister hotel The Argyll and told us to phone them and see if we could have dinner there, we asked them to phone and they said no.We returned to our room and booked a table at the Argyll and had a lovely meal, wish we had just stayed there now.

Location was excellent - esplanade was practically on your doorstep . The sea view from the room was wonderful- it was such a lovely way to start the morning . The hotel had beautiful gardens to sit in , whilst having a refreshing drink from the bar and enjoying the view. The staff were also amazing and so helpful.

The room that we had was so amazing and I would not have wanted to stay in another room- however it would have been better if it had a walk in shower as my dad struggled to use the bath with the overhead shower - although it did have handrails. Unfortunately we were advised that they have no sea view rooms that had walk in showers. Not much to do in the hotel at night , entertainment wise- but in fairness, it might just have been the nights that we stayed there - as were only there for 3nts -

Location was great, right next to the beach front and walkways. 11 am check out was good

Hotel a bit dated.. website made it look as if it has an italian restaurant and a beer garden. We tried to book dinner but told us there was a coach party in. Told us we could go to a sister hotel which I did not want to do. Anyway they booked us in. No Italian a set meal which was lovely. Had trouble finding directions to the hotel, we ended up reversing down a one way street..

I have stayed here before. It is a budget hotel with small single rooms (as expected) at a much lower price than any of the other places nearby that were available on my required dates. While being a little dated and in need of redecoration, the rooms at the Esplanade are very clean and everything works as it should, including a kettle with tea and coffee. The 2 members of staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is just a bit dull and uninspiring. However I would rather have this at a budget price than pay 3 times more for somewhere more exciting.

The staff were wonderful and very kind and helpful. We surprised our relative and the staff helped with the surprise and made us feel very welcome. Beautiful hotel with 5 star service, spotlessly clean. Sharon and Robert were brilliant entertainers as well as the Piper and Lauren the Highland Dancer. Thank you Suzy, Grace, Clare, Deeksha, Swetta for an exceptional hotel stay. Tracey and Barry xx

Nice views from the front, comfortable beds, tv in the rooms, nice staff. A nice hotel .

You could do with a signpost from the main road. Murder to get into it as it’s all one-way in and out. The entrance from the road is like a small road and past you before you know it and you need to turn to try and get in again. There are still stairs to navigate in the lower half of the hotel if you want to sit in the garden so keep this mind . Restaurant will not open if the deem there is not enough guests staying.

Staff were helpful. Location was fine and a short walk to town centre.

Room 340 was on ground floor and everyone entering hotel, sitting in the gardens or walking past were staring in the window. No privacy. Bathroom was tiny and shower not working very well. NOT a deluxe room as described. Breakfast was not worth the money. Parking was a tight squeeze.
