The property is beautifully landscaped and the buildings are set apart from each other so there’s a sense of spaciousness with gorgeous, lush common areas. I LOVED the very low exterior lighting. Just enough to see where the garden borders are but not so much that the stars were blocked out. I loved that there were pet waste stations all over the place; it really gave a vibe that my dog was welcome there. The “partial river view” from my room was only “partial” because the river is half hidden by a terraced garden, which was not a problem for me at all; not like if it was blocked by another building. The view was beautiful! Incredible value for money!
It’s just a bit old and the interior finishes could do with some updating but that’s not anything to “dislike”, necessarily. The room had a little bit of a musty smell when I arrived but it cleared out once I had the air running for a bit and opened the windows. The only real issue I had with the room was that the aircon unit is very loud so I had to turn it off at night to be able to sleep. In very hot or very cold weather, this could be an issue for people who are noise-sensitive in this way.

We had a nice, quiet room with an excellent view of the river. It was a good location. The king bed was comfortable. It was large and spacious with a small kitchenette area so that we could make tea or microwave popcorn in the evening. There was a full size fridge for our convenience as well.
The shower stall in the bathroom felt cramped but otherwise clean. We had plenty of hot water. We wished there could have been an easy chair in the living space so we wouldn't have to always sit on the bed to watch TV or read. The pillows with the bed were quite hard and lumpy. And we were a little surprised by how small the TV screen was.

the flower gardens were incredible very nice room and brow from the balcony
the next door “business” (bar? restaurant? )played such loud music from 7-10 pm the 2 nites we were there, you could hear it in the room with a heavy base vibration. although the first nite was a wedding, my guess is this is a common occurrence. it sounded like a loud concert w not just the music but the audience as well. the manager told us this they quit at 10pm. Seems like they can’t do anything. maybe check out the noise ordinance for the town. and ps: I like rowdy concerts but not next to where I m staying.

We stayed two separate nights. Both rooms had lovely views and the rooms were comfortable and thoughtfully and attractively arranged. We even had a beautiful live plant in our room. But the outstanding features are the grounds(!), the views and the STAFF! The grounds are so lovely and very natural to the setting overlooking the river. We encountered several staff members and each was smiling, warm and welcoming. We felt individually recognized and not just someone passing through. It's really quite a remarkable place - and we could afford it!! We came through from Colorado en route to Seattle and we felt we'd like to come back to Hood River just to stay at Westcliff Lodge for our vacation destination. Dining at the hotel next door was an added pleasure but we liked staying at the West Cliff Lodge. Also, we had a dog with us which was only an extra $10 a night. They have a lovely dog area and you can't even tell any dogs had ever been there! Remarkable! There are several buildings on the property each individual to itself. I had looked carefully at the pictures provided and was well satisfied with my choice.
I can't think of a thing. The rooms aren't "opulent" but they are very pleasant with plenty of room and well appointed.

Immaculately clean rooms with lots of thoughtful details, like wrapped wine glasses and a wine key/bottle opener. Room had plenty of space and included a desk, full-sized table and chairs, dresser (with clean drawers), microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. Really enjoyed our private balcony overlooking the courtyard. Property was extremely well-maintained and the grounds were beautifully landscaped with amazing views of the river and gorge. Office staff were very friendly and the complimentary organic coffee and tea were delicious. Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back!
We loved everything about the Westcliff Lodge but be aware that the hotel is conveniently located off of 84, which means you can hear the highway noise. However, the rooms are well-insulated so we could barely hear anything inside and had no problems sleeping (even though we’re light sleepers).

We loved it here, we really wish we could have stayed longer than 1 night. The location is incredible, and we had a view right over the river and a balcony to enjoy it from. Its so quiet and tranquil which is incredible as it's really not far from the road. Super easy to find. The grounds are gorgeous and lush, very well kept. lots of bird flitting around, including eagles. Feels like an idyllic hideaway. Our room was lovely. Huge and very clean with comfy beds, plenty of plug sockets and nice lighting. We also enjoyed the folder with information on how the business has grown and developed from a standard road side motel, the the beautiful site it now is.
Nothing, loved it.

The room was large, comfortably furnished, and had a fantastic view. I was particularly impressed with the high level of cleanliness in the room. The grounds are like a park. Really lovely. Great water pressure, lots of hot water. We will definitely return.
We were planning on the kitchen that was listed for the room and turned out to be just a mini-fridge. So that was disappointing. We booked through a third party so it may have been their error in stating that one existed. The only other disappointment was the pillows. Mine were like big wads of foam chunks; perfect for a stiff neck and no good at all for comfortable sleeping.

Beautiful and relaxing stay! This is probably one of my favorite hotels we’ve stayed at. We had a beautiful view of the river and stayed in the winter, so got treated to a couple days of snow. The little kitchen was perfectly equipped, wifi was excellent for remote working, and the little heater in the bathroom was a nice bonus! They also give out a $50 voucher to use at a list of restaurants or shops around town if you stay for two nights in the off season. We really appreciated the little touch and enjoyed a night in town eating and walking around the little shops. Can’t wait to come back again and stay longer!
Nothing!

The place is so beautiful. The garden is full of beautiful flowers and well taken care of. The views over the river are unique. The room was also good and clean. Beds were comfy. It is really worth it to pay a little bit more and have a room with views. I think it makes a completely different experience. The Indian restaurant at the entrance is also a good place to eat. Spicy but sooo good. You can order to go and eat at one of the picnic tables with views.
We loved everything but it is overpriced, like everything in that area. It's far from downtown so you need a car to move.

This is perhaps the cleanest place we’ve ever stayed at!!! It is located at the edge of the cliff overlooking the Columbia Gorge. We were in a king kitchenette, non-pet unit, which was one of the furthest buildings from the front, with a wonderful view of the river below. It’s amazing the type of detail you can see in a facility that’s taken care of in this manner. Not only was the room spotless clean, but you noticed all the small details- such as a fact that there were no scratches or dings in the doors or walls. The kitchenette cabinets had high-grade self-closing doors and drawers, as well as small bumpers on the wall next to the cabinet door, so the handle wouldn’t leave a mark. The kitchenette was very well stocked with dishes, utensils, and pots and pans. We stayed at other places with kitchenettes that had nothing which made them effectively useless. Obviously, Westcliff has anticipated the needs for their guests; you could stay here comfortably for a week cooking for yourself. These are the type of details you do not normally see in a hotel, and it just showed the attention to detail. The room also had a live plant on the table as well as binoculars and a book for identifying birds. Everything is just so well done that it’s hard to believe it’s listed as a two star hotel. It is truly a gem……
No complaints. My only (minor) suggestion is to add some salt and pepper packets to the kitchenette units.
