I stayed in the room called "Winter Romance". I liked the wallpaper and blue/white LED lights. My room was large with a big, comfortable bed. I also had a large, attached balcony with a comfy chair. The room had air conditioning and a mini fridge. The bathroom had a separate shower and tub. Shampoo and body soap were provided. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure. There is a washing machine you can use but no dryer. The hotel is walking distance to many restaurants (highly recommend Bakers Brunch). The train station is a 25 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi ride. They called a taxi for me when I checked out.

We loved this GuestHouse! It is so charming, beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, and the Manage who greets you is kind and welcoming. The shared facilities are terrific and it’s like staying in your own home. We used these the evening we arrived, and I went down for an early coffee. The rooms themselves are lovely, quite large, and like the common area they are beautifully decorated. I highly recommend staying at the 1999, and we will return there again.
Nothing….its perfect!

We stayed in the VIP Deluxe Room which was great. Very clean and quiet with comfortable beds. Friendly staff. The location was convenient as well with numerous eateries just around the corner. The night market is just a pleasant 10-minute walk away.
Breakfast would have been nice. There's a McDonalds (bleh) and vegetarian breakfast buffet within 5-minutes walking distance. If you have an early start for Taroko Gorge, you'll need to plan accordingly.

The room was large, with a large bathroom, seemed very clean and overall the entire place seemed very clean, modern and new. Would be great for solo or couples. FYI - It is a walkup, no elevator and you need to remove shoes while in hotel
I had some issues at check in with miscommunication from booking, staff etc but it all got settled. Of course after I thought it was settled I received constant messages from Booking which was annoying and not really the hotels fault. Outside of that there were no real issues. I will say I booked this hotel because of location but the location, to me, wasn't that great but it was a quiet road.

It's a beautiful and cozy hotel (building), big tables, comfortable sofa & chairs, tea bags and coffee machine at lobby. We could study/work/read at lobby before check in time and in the evenings during the stay. The staff are very friendly, ready to help but never disturb the guests. The room is comfortable, with big openable windows and well equipped lavatory. The location is good, with lots of restaurants nearby and 10min walk distance to downtown, night market, and the beach park.

A really charming B&B with cute, distinctive rooms and decor in a great part of Hualien. I walked to the night market and there was a great row of restaurants just around the corner, including an incredible cart that does rice balls for breakfast. (They typically sell out before 9am!) I enjoyed the spacious bathroom with soaking tub and the view from the room and balcony over the treetops and rooftops.
Travelers should be aware that this property doesn't have all the amenities of a big hotel. There is no elevator; my room was up two flights of stairs, though the host kindly carried my (heavy!) suitcase up when I arrived. The front desk is not staffed 24/7 though they communicated well about this before check-in and I was even let into my room early. At check-out, I ended up being on my own to find a cab to the train station, though this was due to an atypical personal emergency and the host was very apologetic and did communicate when I reached out via What's App. Visitors are asked to leave their shoes downstairs and change into slippers upon arrival -- not unusual for a B&B or home in Taiwan, but may be a change of pace for some Western visitors. Just good to know!

This hotel exceeded my expectations! The owner speaks English and was very helpful. The Auntie who cleans was so sweet and made sure we had what we needed. The beds were comfortable. The shower had great pressure. Free washing machine usage was a major plus. It was easy to walk to restaurants and the night market from here 🙃Would definitely stay here again!

Great stay with a fantastic host! Everything is very clean, rooms are spacious, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The host is awesome and ready to help with any questions. While breakfast isn't provided, there are excellent breakfast spots nearby. Plus, you get free coffee, tea, and cookies, so no complaints :) Highly recommended!
Just keep in mind that it's about a 20 min walk from/to the station

Funky and comfortable with a nice sitting area downstairs. Good coffee and tea available for free. Nice quiet area with lots of restaurants nearby.
I stayed in the Balloon room on my own which was ok, but it would be a bit cramped for two people and luggage. My friend had the princess room which was spacious

Our stay at 1999 B&B in Hualien was delightful! The accommodation was comfortable, and the highlight was the inclusion of a bathtub, adding a luxurious touch to our experience. The staff was friendly and attentive. Central location in a quiet street. The cleanliness and attention to detail further enhanced our satisfaction. We highly recommend 1999 B&B for a fantastic stay in Hualien.
