Lovely property in a beautiful setting within easy drive to many attractions. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts catered for all tastes and were perfectly cooked and presented.

We stayed in Mews room 1 which was very small for a double. The only mirror was in the bathroom, which was very inconvenient because for obvious reasons there was no power point for anything other than an electric razor. The hotel caters for Weddings and I can only imagine how frustrating it would be{it was for me} for a guest not have a mirror to get ready by. How about putting a table top mirror next to a power point and/or a full length mirror perhaps attached to the back of the cupboard door which was close enough to a power point.

This was our fourth trip here, twice near Christmas and now twice in summer. We loved the grounds, room and restaurants, the new decor was nice but we loved the previous tartan carpets especially at Christmas. The ancient, giant fireplaces are so special. Also, a Cockerell plods around crowing, very entertaining and friendly.

Breakfast wasn't very nice this time, despite the one member of staff's best efforts. The sausages were entirely grey. The waiter was stressed out, so I didn't send them back. I asked if the pool was heated and the member of staff said yes. It wasn't. It was freezing. Even during the heatwave we were there for. Made my disability worse.

What we loved • Character & setting: Ravenwood Hall’s historic building, four-poster bed and period décor give it real charm. Surrounded by woodland just off the A14, it feels peaceful yet is only a short drive to Bury St Edmunds for dinner or sightseeing. • Clean, comfortable room: Our superior double was spotless, spacious and came with an ensuite bath/shower and a welcome fan for the July heat. • Friendly, hands-on staff: A room-mix-up was sorted quickly and apologetically by the manager, and every bartender and waiter we met was chatty and helpful. • Extras that add character: Giant garden games on the lawn and a resident cockerel roaming the grounds made the stay memorable. • Good breakfast: Bed-and-breakfast package included freshly cooked hot dishes plus a tempting continental spread.

What could be better • Outdoor pool maintenance: We packed swimwear but a windy day left leaves floating in the pool, so we skipped a dip—worth a quick daily skim in summer. • Food variety: The restaurant menu looked a little limited; what we saw being served looked good, but more choice would be welcome. ⸻ Would we return? Absolutely. It’s not a glossy five-star resort, but Ravenwood Hall’s unique character, pleasant staff and tranquil location make it a great countryside base. We enjoyed our stay and happily recommend it to others.

Beautiful old building in extensive grounds adjacent to the A14 but very quiet location. Stayed in main building which I think was a better choice than in the outbuildings especuially if there is a wedding at the venue on the day of stay. Nice swimming pool and lots of tasteful areas in the shade. Lovely bar and restaurant areas for evening meals and breakfast. Would certainly stay agaIn .... Cheddar the cockerel who wanders the grounds is a joy but does have a very good pair of lungs! Staff members all exceptionally helpful.

When busy overnight an early morning litter pick would be a good idea ....

Sammy was very welcoming and we loved our room and the decor - clearly has been redecorated very recently. Everywhere was very clean. We were the ‘VIP’ guests, chosen by the hotel, for the weekend so we got a lovely additional hamper with snacks - that was a lovely touch! The breakfast was great on the Saturday morning (the Sunday morning clearly was a different chef as the breakfast was a lot smaller!)

The only thing was that were was no full length mirror (I was getting ready for a wedding) and so had to use the one small bathroom mirror. Food was also a bit pricey!

We stayed here with friends whilst attending the National Vintage Tractor Run. The breakfast menu offered a wide variety of choices, including smashed avocado and poached egg on toast, porridge, and a traditional fried breakfast platter. Additionally, there was a buffet of pastries and continental breakfast items available for those who preferred a lighter option. The room was comfortable and clean, complete with an en-suite bathroom. Sammy took excellent care of us at the bar—his customer service was truly outstanding.

The coffee at breakfast could have been warmer. However, that is just a small point to an otherwise enjoyable stay.

When you first enter the hotel the smell of a log fire makes it feel very welcoming and homely, was greeted by a lovely gentleman named samy, who took us to our room. Our room had been refurbished and had everything that was needed for a comfortable night stay. We had booked diner at the hotel for the evening and the food did not dissapoint, the lamb shank is a must for any diner, everything was perfect from starter to desert, samy our waiter went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was memorable. The new owners of this property have transformed this hotel into a warm welcoming hotel, myself and my partner would highly recommend a nights stay for any occasion, we will be certainly be returning. Thanks to all the staff for making our anniversary an enjoyable one.

Beautiful surroundings for relaxing in, especially outdoors if weather is warm. Nice walk through woods and alongside the hedgerow at the side of a field, up to Rougham Church, which too, was beautiful. We also called into ‘Roots cafe & shop’ that was just a few minutes walk away within the big estate. Most staff members were very welcoming and helpful. Food was tasty, if a little expensive. Nice choices for breakfast. The bed was really comfortable (we were in the Oak Room).

The staff we're lovely and food excellent. Really value for money. We got a taxi into Bury St Edmunds, and at £10.70 each way, it was brilliant between the 3 of us. We will be visiting again. It was like going back in time with all the comforts.

The only thing that needed attention was the side bedside lamps. Which l informed the staff about changing the bulbs as lamps were a little unstable. But it didn't cause any problems at all. A brilliant stay over. Thank you 😊
