We were given a cup of tea on arrival after we had been shown our room. The room itself was comfortable, clean and warm. The hotel is close to the town centre and has parking, which was very convenient. The table service at breakfast was prompt and excellent and the breakfast itself was delicious with plenty of choice. We had keys to the room and the front door so we could get in late when we wanted to. The staff were helpful and on the last day they said it was no problem if we wanted to keep the car in the car park if we wanted to go back into town.

There was a cupboard in the room, which was just inside the door and not used for anything. However it wasn't clean and tidy inside and could do with a bit of a clear out. Having said that, it didn't affect our stay in any way.

All I needed, but not really 4-star in the Tudor annexe. I wondered if the rooms in the main building offered more. I feel most people would say/wonder this. But it was quiet when I was there and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional, and the staff were very pleasant. I did not use any of the other services on offer.

A few cobwebs on ceiling above the bed. Bottom of the radiator in the bathroom a bit tatty with some rust coming through peeling paint. The shelf above the sink slopes, so it is fairly useless, and the shower wand holder slips. The shower screen needed constant readjusting to ensure you were not flooding the floor. With regard to water on the bathroom floor, I would recommend some form of beading along the bottom of the bath panel to prevent water running under the bath, something you have to take care to avoid.

Lovely breakfast but would have liked the option of muesli with fresh fruit and yogurt but it was an either or situation so a bit restrictive. Staff welcoming and helpful. Tea-making facility in room although a decent sized mug would have been preferable to tiny cups. Quiet location and pleasant interior and handy off-street car park. Excellent shower.

Bed mattress was U-shaped, hard and uncomfortable so back ached after 2 nights on that. Curtains didn't block the light so hard to sleep. Quite dusty especially in wardrobe.

The hotel itself was lovely. Very old fashioned furniture but it was like that throughout the hotel so it was beautiful. The breakfast choices were exceptional, the cooked, English breakfast was delicious and hot. The location was also excellent, close to the shopping centre and the cathedral and gardens.

The room was a very creaky room, from the floor to the bed! The room itself looked very clean but when we arrived I was looking for a plug next to the bed on the right side, I found a very dirty tissue behind the bedside unit and it was still there when we left even though I mentioned it to a member of staff. Overall though I would definitely recommend.

Everything about this charming hotel was great. We felt welcome from the second we arrived. The person who checked us in gave us lots of details about the town, where to go what to see, good restaurants etc. The room was lovely with comfortable beds and everything you need. Breakfast was superb with a wide choice and personal table service which is much preferably to the help yourself buffet style breakfast Parking was included at no extra cost

We had showers and my wife had a bath and at the end of the day the water was luke warm. Next morning it was fine.

This is a beautiful and charming hotel. It is clean, comfortable and quiet and it has all the lovely wood floor creaks that an old home should have 😉. It is conveniently located to all the Bury sites, shops and restaurants. Also their Breakfast is amazing!!! Coffee is great and I loved the fresh berries and yogurt. If you are looking for a modern hotel with an elevator, gym and swimming pool, this place is not for you. But if you love charm, amazing staff and a great breakfast every morning then you have the right place !!!

It is quite difficult getting large bags up the spiral stairs but the staff are kind enough to help 😀

The breakfast was fantastic. It was very delicious and so nice to have a full breakfast and not just a continental breakfast. Thank You. The location was perfect for me- walking distance to town and all shops. The room was so quaint. Only thing I wish it would would have was a regular chair in the room and not just a stool under the desk. A chair would have provided support for me. The Hotel was so quaint and charming. I loved it.

Nothing. it was so quaint. Maybe an elevator. But not a compliant - The host took my luggage upstairs to my room. Very Very accommodating.

We enjoyed our stay at the charming family-run 14-room Chantry Hotel. The hotel was proving very popular. The Hotel and our room were crisp, clean and fresh, and nicely furnished in an antique-type style that suits the location. The bed, sheets and pillows were super comfy. Breakfast is beautifully cooked and the staff are efficient and friendly. It is next to the Green King brewery and the nearby Dog & Partridge serves excellent food and beer. The carpark is free. A shortish walk takes you through the beautiful Cathedral grounds into the beating heart of Bury St. Edmunds.

The rating is AA 4-star for residential accommodation which seems fair but do not expect a 4-star hotel. The facilities do not include a lift to upper floors or air-con in bedrooms. The restaurant is only for serving breakfast, but there are loads of good places for lunch and dinner in Bury St. Edmunds. The room rate was £185 per night when we stayed, perhaps a bit on the high side.

The room was clean, really well presented, and I had a lovely view of the Abbey from my room. The bed was so comfortable and spacious, which was really appreciated as I was there for rugby related reasons and having a comfortable bed was sooo nice at the end of the day. It was also very warm whilst I stayed there so I was pleased to see that a fan was already in the room for additional cooling if needed. Location wise, it was about a 20 min walk from the station which was pretty straightforward, and the hotel was really well located for local sites, eateries, and so on. Breakfast was good too with a nice range of options. I had something different both mornings I stayed there and the options were filling, cooked well, and yummy. Staff were very friendly and lovely to talk to.

Actually cannot think of anything to write here as I had no complaints at all through my stay

My partner's work took him to hotels all over the UK land the world. He notices detail. The wooden stars on the wall in the breakfast room - made by a member of the family - a warming touch. The 240/120 volt shaver socket. The perfect poached eggs. There was little that was not excellent.

Very few hotels have enough horizontal space for laying out toiletries in the bathroom. Our room lacked that. There was a low-level 'throb' from, we think, the street light outside the window. Probably not much you can do about it.
