I got a free upgrade, which was very much appreciated. The location is great. Very lively area without being noisy. Only a few minutes walking from the train station, night market nearby too. Great swimming pool and complementary breakfast.

I made a reservation via Booking, thinking it would be automatically charged to the cc i used when booking. However, upon check-in, they said that I had to pay cash at the reception. Since I was short on cash, i couldn't, so they made me pay 5% extra. I have been traveling for a few weeks already, and it is the first time they have charged this commission. The lock of the door was not working properly, and the bathroom had no light. I didn't stay much in the room, so It didn't bother me much at the end

The staff at this hotel are particularly helpful. Initially I was wondering whether I would enjoy the stay, as I wouldn't normally book a 2* but this hotel is a real find and an absolute bargain. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, and in terms of value for money,1000 bht per night, including a reasonable breakfast, you will struggle to beat this. Seems I'vebeen wasting money on overrated 5* places all these years

There wasn't anything I particularly disliked, perhaps the only negative would be the bathroom is my room was a bit tired, though very clean. I think i had one of the older rooms which have not been part of a current refurb project.

This really is a smashing place. However there is currently a huge extension being built meaning there is a lot of disruption whilst being built. The pool was dusty and the noise was a lot The room we had should overlook the pool but the new building was in front so could not sit on balcony area When finished I’m sure it would be fabulous but right now it was a spoiler as we could not lie and relax after a day out

The location was fantastic. I booked a Studio River View room. It was spacious and clean. The pool was nice, although I only used it once as I’m not a real pool person. Included breakfast and other meals were very nice, with lots of choices… but I only eat Thai food when in Thailand! 😂 The staff were very friendly and helpful. The availability of scooter hire at the guest house was great, although it is only a very short walk out to the street for plenty of choices of shops, restaurants and bars. I was very impressed with the accommodation and can’t believe it is only 2 stars. I would definitely stay here again!

Nothing I didn’t like, really. Only issue was that the room uses a key to open the door, not a swipe card. The card for the power is attached to the key. Twice, I forgot to take the key with me and locked myself out but staff let me in, no problem. It might also be nice if there were instructions in English (maybe other languages) on how to use the TV and change setting for English subtitles etc. as the TV menu was all in Thai. Only minor issues… and I will just have to learn my Thai.

The Guesthouse was lovely. It was situated close to the train station, just on the riverside and you could see the sunset over the river. We also had a room with the riverview that was amazing in the morning and evening. The swimming pool was amazing, it was very nice to stary there and chill on some hot days. The rooms were quite big and clean. Restaurant was quite ok, food tasty. It had a lot of European/American dishes as well as Thai ones and quite an impressive selection of vegetarian (with some vegan) dishes. Breakfest had limited choise though.

Some of the staff were really nice and helpful, some were not that friendly. The materess was quite hard, but I guess that is the case in most parts of Thailand. AC in our room was not working properly during the last night, but we had no chance to say it to the staff. Deposit for a key to the safe was suprising.

Everything here would be equivalent to a 4 star hotel. Great location to all attractions around Kanchanburri itself. 15 minutes walk to the Bridge, rail station 10 minutes in a tuktuk to Riverside Quay.. Room was large with AC, bathroom clean, large swimming pool. Staff very friendly, breakfast pretty good. Walking street 1 minute away

Great location for bars, restaurants and attractions, very helpful and friendly staff, nothing any trouble to do for you. Has a great food menu. Offers a wide selection of tours to all the local landmarks. Would definitely come back.

There was an extension being built during our stay, it was a little bit too noisy first thing in the morning.

A great place to stay in Kanchanaburi in a good location for everything . Rooms are very clean and comfortable, the food here is excellent they have a great menu with international dishes available too , breakfast is free for some of the rooms with a set menu , but also have bigger breakfasts available at a good price and delicious 😋. The staff here are very friendly and make you feel like part of the family , Patrick a Thai worker here is always happy and very helpful . There is also a great swimming pool here too which is great to cool off with plenty of new sun loungers . For me this place is a home from home I won't want to leave 😄. Thanks again to all the staff at Phongphen for making this place so good 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️.

We had originally booked a cheaper room, but unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable. So we were able to upgrade to a pool room which was much more comfortable. The pool was lovely. The staff were really helpful, organising a trip for us, advising on what to do etc. Breakfast is basic but good. Excellent value for money.

The room was spacious maybe a bit outdated but it had necessary amenities. The staff were so helpful and lovely and the food in the restaurant for both breakfast and lunch was nice. The area was great we were able to walk to activities nearby and taxi was very cheap anyway.

The only issue was the pool was getting work done around it so it wouldn’t be a very relaxing experience if you had planned to stay by the pool all day as the work was very noisy.
