Roger was the perfect host, always on the lookout for ways to make your stay even better while not being intrusive. Not forgetting Lou, the gorgeous and very friendly greyhound who we also miss after a three night stay. Lorelei is a large and extremely comfortable early residence built by a doctor. Each room has an ensuite bathroom while there is a large shared sitting room (open fire) and breakfast room (warming firebox). The excellent continental breakfast with toast is included in the tariff (cooked breakfast for a small extra charge). Free wine beer and soft drinks are supplied plus fast WiFi. We visited during the cold winter months but were never short of heat - this was a great find.

Great place to stay for a couple of days in Portland. Centrally located, beautiful house and gardens. This B&B is just 2 blocks from the Portland waterfront, walk/strolling distances to shops and cafes. Roger was a wonderful host, and a fantastic cook of the fresh breakfast in the morning. That is If you wanted a cooked breakfast, because options on the continental b/fast were plentiful and could keep you going all day, (Bacon& Eggs was a treat on weekends, so we went with the cooked options). Absolutely charming B&B and we would not hesitate to stay here again. Everything was as expected but it was the 1% that really made you feel welcome. Guest felt welcome to relax in the front room, dining area or veranda. Weather over the weekend was lovely, so we did not get to experience the feeling of sitting in front of the cosy fire in front room. Guess we will have to return in the middle of winter, which we will. And because i don't trust glowing or perfect reviews, there was a possum in the beautiful gardens on the property. This possum was either being aggressive or armorous towards the other habitants of the trees, and the violent shaking of the palm tree near the front entrance in the early evening startled me that one time. So, if you have fear of possums......you going to have to deal with it.

Nothing, other than the angry or lustful possum as mentioned above. Everything was perfect for a weekend getaway (for us, not the possum......but maybe this was a getaway for them, in which case, each to their own).

A beautiful Bed & Breakfast full of charm! The house and its Victorian-style early 20th-century decor are wonderfully preserved. The host was incredibly kind and attentive, making the stay even more enjoyable. The other guests were also very friendly, and there were plenty of lovely conversations in the cozy living room or over breakfast. Another highlight is the stunning Cape Bridgewater, a fantastic beach nearby, perfect for swimming. I was able to borrow beach towels from the accommodation. The home itself was stunning, our room utterly beautiful, Breakfast was great - excellent granola, choice of teas and coffee, fresh fruit, etc etc. There was a choice of a cooked breakfast too, for a very reasonable cost. There were complimentary items, such as wine, soft drinks available. Our host, Roger, was very welcoming, and we felt comfortable enough to invite friends there to meet up before we went out for dinner.

We couldn't fault anything, and have stayed in many B and Bs in Australia, Scandinavia, and Europe.

Lorelei is a very special stay. The house is stunning. I wish we had more time just to sit and enjoy its beauty. The room was spacious and super comfy. Roger the host is very friendly. It was so nice to be welcomed more as a friend than a paying guest. The breakfast provided was more than adequate but we paid for the cooked breakfast. It was great value, great quality and kept us going for most of the day. We really enjoyed Portland and our stay at Lorelei. I hope we get to return again soon.

I would have liked to stay longer.

What a gem of a find, gorgeous old house and conveniently located to everything. Our host Roger was amazing and the amenities were excellent. The room was spacious and the bed was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The extra touches including providing beer and wine and soft drinks and breakfast made it even better value for money. And the cooked breakfast was amazing. I cannot speak highly enough of this place and recommend anyone thinking of visiting Portland to use Lorelei B & B as a stop over.

Nothing it was amazing

Amazing service from Roger the owner. He provides Breakfast in a well set out dinning room with the option for a cooked breakfast which he makes and serves quickly. The open fire burning in the lounge at night is a perfect place to sit back on the leather couches and enjoy a quiet red, port or coffee. This does not even mention the beautiful home with high ceilings which is too hard to do justice in this review

Only a minor thing if are a mad footy fan and want to watch the footy the TV in the lounge could be a bit bigger. But then again if your are that dependent on your footy don't go away.

What can I say… Everything. It’s a lovely restored 110yr old house. Our host was excellent; welcoming & facilitated all we needed. Room (no.1) we had was huge with four poster. Lots of areas to sit and relax with a free glass of wine! A lovely experience, would absolutely return there in the future.

Nothing. The only issue we had was with Portland. Finding somewhere to eat in the evening can be difficult in the week so plan ahead.

The host Roger was very accommodating and welcoming, the minute I arrived, I felt comfortable. The breakfast had a great range to choose from, Juice, yogurt, fruit and muesli to a hot cooked meal, the coffee was also fresh. The location was quiet and easy to find, overall a fantastic stay, I will definitely stay again :)

There was nothing I didn't like at Lorelei, my stay was fabulous.

We found Lorelei as we were passing through Portland on our coast road trip & needed a place to stay. It was so warm & cozy & Roger is such a kind & gracious host. The room & bed were comfortable with everything we needed. I liked having our own bathroom & not having to share with other guests. Breakfast was good in the morning & the conversation with Roger & the other guests was nice. It will definately be a place we would return & as a Travel Advisor, would highly recommend to my clients or anyone else.
